I open my eyes and see that my bedroom is filled with light. What time is it? I roll over and pick up my phone but there's nothing but a black screen. I forgot I turned it off last night. I hold down the power button and wait for my phone to load. I don't hear anything in the living room. The guys must still be asleep. A bright light brings my phone to life and I see the time. It's after noon. I can't believe we all slept in this late. I decide to check the other message I received from Jett.
Please call me.
I close the screen on my phone and get out of bed. I don't want to wake Boston up. I get dressed quickly, putting on a pair of denim shorts and a blue t-shirt. I open my bedroom door and peek out. Zane and Mason are still sleeping. I slowly walk out of my bedroom and pick up my keys off the kitchen counter. I need coffee. I'm sure everyone else could use some too.
It's a quick drive to Moe's Coffee and back. Although there was a long line I got in and out fast. I open my apartment door with one hand and hold the drink carrier in the other. As I open the door, I see Zane and Mason looking up at me from the couch.
"Morning Evy" they say in unison.
"Morning guys. I thought you all could use some coffee so I made a quick run" I say.
"You didn't have to do that. Thank you" says Mason.
"Yes, I definitely need coffee. Thanks" says Zane.
I pull their coffees out one at and time and hand it to them. Zane immediately takes a sip and leans back on the couch.
"Morning guys" Boston says emerging from the bedroom. "Wow, you got coffee? You're awesome!"
I laugh as I pull her coffee out and hand it to her. "I could have already told you that".
Everyone agreed to toast for breakfast, or better yet an afternoon snack. We sat around the living room for a while drinking our coffees and eating toast. It's almost 1:30 in the afternoon, but everyone is still trying to wake up.
"So tonight is a big night. Tonight is the night we're going all out. No holding back," Boston says.
I look at her surprised. "What do you mean?"
"I mean you're twenty-one. You've got to have at least one crazy night, right? I found a bar in Atlanta that we're going to. Have you ever seen the movie Coyote Ugly?" she says smiling.
"Yes, why?" I ask.
"Well, it has a bar top that you can dance on. You don't have to, but its there in case you get enough liquid courage," Boston says laughing.
"Dude, I'm down" Zane says happily.
I look over at Mason. He's sitting on the couch, slowly shaking his head from side to side. "Whatever Evie wants to do is fine with me. It's her birthday".
I walk into the kitchen and lean against the counter. I probably shouldn't go to a bar, in the city, late at night. As soon as the thought crosses my mind, so does the memory of Jett telling me not to drink. I turn around and look at Boston, Zane, and Mason whose still sitting in the living room.
"Okay, let's do this. I'm ready to have some fun," I say.
"Yes! That's the Evy I like!" Zane yells from across the room.
"Well, we have some time to kill before we leave tonight. Maybe we can go around Atlanta and sight see? I would love to see the skyscrapers and we probably need to grab something small to eat before tonight. You don't want to go to the bar on an empty stomach or too full," Boston says plainly.
