Bad Boy Pt. 2

Continuation of the previous one-shot.

Jungkook was on his way to the lunch room. It was the Monday of his fourth week at his new school, and he was really tired. Luckily, he had lunch with Taehyung next, and he was excited to see him. He couldn't help it; he'd taken a serious liking to the bad boy. He knew Taehyung probably didn't feel the same, but he let himself believe that maybe- just maybe- he did. This thought kept him going, put a smile on his face and a bounce in his step, so he held on to it.

As he was passing the boys' restroom, he heard a voice call out to him.

"Hey, new kid!"

Jungkook turned around to see a guy he didn't recognize approaching him.

"Oh, hi... my name is actually-"

"I don't give a shit what your name is," the guy snapped, getting up in Jungkook's face.

"Look, I don't know what your problem is, but-" Again, Jungkook didn't get to finish.

"My problem? This is about your problem! You show up and you're suddenly all over Taehyung; you're practically smothering him! Can't you see he doesn't want to be around you? Worthless hoe!" He shoved Jungkook against the wall with his last sentence.

Jungkook grunted as his back hit the wall, his breath escaping his lungs. He would have fallen down if he hadn't felt a sudden pain in his stomach. The guy had punched him in the gut. He hunched over in pain, panting.

"You don't deserve to walk these grounds, you know that?"

Another punch, this one in his side.

"You don't deserve to be alive, worthless piece of shit."

Another punch. Jungkook was crying now. This guy was right; Taehyung didn't want him around. He shouldn't have been so clingy. He deserved every punch he was getting.

"What? You're gonna cry?" The man asked, mocking a baby-voice and sticking out his bottom lip, "If only somebody was here to save you! Too bad nobody cares about the sad, ugly new kid!"

Another punch was landed on his nose. Jungkook felt a searing pain, accompanied by blood running onto his upper lip. A dozen more punches were landed all over his body, the pain filling his head to the point where his mind was blank aside from the bruises and blood.

"You-"

The bully's words were cut off suddenly, and Jungkook felt his presence being removed from the space around him. He couldn't see, though, since his eyes were shut tight.

"The fuck are you doing?!" A familiar voice yelled.

Jungkook looked up to see Taehyung pushing the guy who had attacked him, shoving him to the ground. For all the time he'd known Taehyung, he'd never seen the boy this angry. He was normally just cold and collected; right now, he was practically fuming.

"I was making sure he would get away from you," The guy replied.

"When did I ever say I wanted that? Huh? Or are you just being a selfish bitch?!"

"I was-"

"I don't wanna hear it!" Taehyung slammed his foot into the guy's ribcage. Not hard enough to break it, but hard enough to really, really, hurt.

The guy cried out and scrambled away, getting to his feet and starting to run.

"And don't fucking come back!" Taehyung yelled after him.

Jungkook was sitting on the floor now, lips parted to breathe through his mouth. His nose was filled with blood now, which was slowly oozing down his chin. Taehyung knelt beside him.

"Jungkook, are you okay?" His usually gruff voice was softer now, lowered to a murmur as the hostility drained out of his aura.

Jungkook blinked slowly and took in a breath.

"Taehyung... I- I'm sorry." His voice was pained and quiet. "I d-didn't know that's how you felt. I-I'll leave you a-alone now."

Taehyung sighed and grabbed Jungkook's arm, trying to pull him up.

"That's not true... None of what he said was true."

Jungkook swallowed hard and stumbled to his feet.

"Really?" His voice cracked, and another tear slid down his cheek.

"Really."

Taehyung helped Jungkook take wobbly footsteps into the bathroom. When they reached it, Taehyung grabbed a couple of paper towels and ran warm water from the sink over them. Jungkook held out a hand to take them, but Taehyung gently pushed his hand away. A soft touch held the side of Jungkook's face as Taehyung began to clean the blood away with gentle strokes. Jungkook looked at Taehyung's eyes to find that the usual coldness was gone, replaced with care and caution.

When there was no longer a clean spot on the towel to use, Taehyung threw away the paper towels and turned to get more, again wetting them with warm water. He finished up wiping the blood and tears away.

"Why are you helping me?" Jungkook asked quietly as Taehyung threw the last paper towels away.

"Why do you think?" Taehyung asked. His tone wasn't harsh, though; it almost seemed like a genuine question.

"I don't know."

Taehyung sighed.

"It's because I care about you," he mumbled, looking away from Jungkook's face.

Jungkook's eyes widened in surprise.

"You do?"

Taehyung only nodded, moving to support Jungkook as they exited the bathroom.

"I think you've had enough for today. I'll take you home," Taehyung muttered, directing Jungkook towards the door.

"You don't have to-"

"Yeah, I do."

"But-"

"If you keep talking, your nose is gonna fill up with blood again. You like breathing, don't you?"

Jungkook obediently went quiet, blushing slightly.

When they made their way to Taehyung's car, Jungkook was about ready to pass out. The pain accompanied by the emotional rollercoaster he'd experienced that day had taken all the energy out of him. Taehyung set him in the passenger seat and closed the door, making his way to the driver's side.

"Let's go to my house. My parents aren't home, so there aren't any annoying adults to ask questions."

"O-okay," Jungkook agreed.

The engine roared to life, and the last thing Jungkook saw before he fell asleep was Taehyung's focused eyes fixed on the road to drive them home safely.
