I was still in pain, but I was actually able to move. Slowly, but surely. Ashley had gone to the cafeteria to grab some breakfast for us, and I told her to not worry about it and hang out with her friends, but her being her, she refused and insisted to stay by my side no matter what. Even if I was perfectly fine to just get up and get my breakfast myself.
However, she did have a point. I didn't want to go get breakfast, because I still had the bruises and although they were much smaller now, they were still noticeable. My lips were still in quite rough shape too, but I was able to smile without feeling too much pain. Thank goodness!
I got up from bed in the least graceful way, pushing my duvet out of bed and almost falling out as I hadn't realised my legs were tangled up in the duvet too. I groaned and stood up, balancing on two feet and sighing at the sight of the messy dorm.
For some reason a pile of clothes had just appeared in front of my path, and I was not bothered to clean it all up, so I nodded to myself, thinking of a quick and easy route around it.
Maybe if I could just... so close!
Ah! I did it! I reached one of my legs across the pile, hopping slightly to the side and then bringing myself to my other leg. I got past the pile and into the bathroom, almost screaming at the sight I faced.
My hair is sticking up everywhere like I just got shocked by a lightning bolt!
Great goodness I'm a bloody mess!
Woah, ok calm down there before Raven gives you a new nickname. Miss Great Britain.
I brushed my teeth and ruffled my hair, combing it with my fingers and after finishing up I smoothed down my hair once again, brushing it down until it formed my normal waves.
"Yeah you're a total keeper, Claire.." I sighed to myself, flashing a smile in the mirror and immediately regretting it.
Today was the day that Ashley would meet up with the others. Yep. That's right. Ashley. Not me. As much as I wanted to go, I didn't want to risk being found out with noticeable bruises and a cut lip. Especially from Raven, who was told that I was sick.
Stop thinking about Raven.
"Coo-ey!" I heard a high pitched shrill from the other room, so I opened the door and met Ashley, who was innocently waving around a brown paper bag which did not seem to be from the cafeteria. Greggs. I smiled slightly.
"I told you not to waste your time on me!" I groaned, sitting down on the bed as my best friend pouted, crossing her arms with the paper bag still in her hands.
"Look. You need to eat something more filling, so yes I went out of my way to get you a bigger breakfast. But that's because I wanted to. Whether you're sick or not. I'm going to be gone for most of the day and I'm worried about you." she tutted and I sighed, pulling her arm towards me as I held her hands and looked up at her standing figure.
"I'm older than you! You don't need to worry about me."
"Yet I am."
"So don't. I'll be fine."
"That's what you said last time. And you came back with bruises and cuts." she frowned, and I felt a slight frown forming on my face too. Yes, Ashley. It's because I fell down stairs and I'm a bit clumsy. That's why I have bruises.
