Jest suddenly woke up in the middle of the forest, trees surrounding him, the fresh breeze blew his hat off his head. It tumbled on the ground, and it landed in front of a well.

He was still not in the mood, and he honestly thought he would never be in the mood.

The three sisters appeared from inside the well, they were whispering to each other, and Jest just stared at them. "Oh, what a lovely surprise!" Tillie exclaimed. Jest rolled his eyes. "What do you three want from me now?" Said Jest as he stood up, brushing the dirt off him. "We want to make a deal with you." The three of them sang in unison. "Look, I'm not in the mood—"
"Oh, we insist! We know this is an offer you wouldn't refuse." Jest carefully took one step forward to get a better look at them. "What do you mean?" Jest questioned. The three started to giggle and Elsie spoke. "Oh dear Jest, we have heard of how the lovely Cathrine was murdered. We are very sorry for your loss." Jest lowered his head and closed his eyes shut, and put his hand in a fist, his knuckles began to turn white.

"But do not fear Jest. We have a way. We can bring your lovely Cathrine back, Jest." Jest eyes snapped open and he whipped his head up. "Excuse me?" The three girls giggled. "How— I mean— how?" Jest was out of words. Were they talking about his Cathrine? beautiful, with shiny green eyes and soft dark-haired Cathrine? The passionate baker that smelled of flour and sweets Cathrine? How could they bring the dead back; not even Jest could, and he was all for impossible.

"Although, as you know, we don't do things for free. This is bringing the dead back, and that's big, which means we need something big in return." Jest took and deep breath in and exhaled. "I will Do anything to bring her back." They chuckled and then it turned into laughter. "Very well. We will give you your dear Cathrine back. But you must bring us the Heart of a Queen. And not just any Queen, Only the Heart of the Red Queen, the one in Chess."

Only The Heart Of A Queen. The Red Queen.

"As I Said, I'll do it. Now bring her back to me."
"Very well Jest, but we must warn you, if you fail to keep your end of the deal, we will take Cathrine's Heart instead." The three Said together. Take Cathrine's Heart? Like the White Queen wanted him to do? The very reason he came to Hearts in the first place? He couldn't let that happen. He wouldn't. "Ok. I won't let you down." He simply said. They look at each other and grinned eerily.

"Wonderful."

Suddenly a bright light, brighter than the sun, flashed in front of him. Jest shut his eyes and stepped back, tripping on a rock and falling to his side on the grass. He heard the three girls chant something that he thought was in another language. The bright light began to dim until there was no more flashing bright light. He got up, afraid to open his eyes. But once he did, he saw her.

Cathrine.

She laid on the grass, unconscious, wearing the same dress she wore the day They were going to Chess together. The day she had slain the Jabberwock. The day she was killed. Jest held his breath and slowly approach her.

She was beautiful, as always. There was still dirt on her dress and all over her face. And there was something new. There was a scar where Peter had sliced her with the axe. Jest sat down next to her and began to caress her face, admiring her beauty. Jest looked toward the Three girls and they slowly drifted into mist, along with the well. It was now just Jest. Jest alone with Cathrine. Jest stayed there, lying next to her, hours passing by. He hoped that she could finally wake up. So he could embrace her. So he could kiss her. Tell her how much he loved her, and that her heart was his, only his; and that his heart was hers, and only hers.

As the hours went by, and as night fell, Jest grew tired; and he fell asleep next to Cathrine.

Beautiful, with shiny green eyes and soft dark-haired Cathrine. The passionate baker that smelled of flour and sweets Cathrine. His Cathrine.
