"Jest? Is that— are you— Am I dreaming again?" Cath Said, slowly standing up from her chair. Jest took a few steps closer to her. No, it seemed to real she thought. Just before Cathrine was going to break the silence, Jest walked up to her and pulled her to him and kissed her. Cathrine was delighted and wrapped her arms around his neck. When they parted, she looked up at Jest, only to see him smiling so wide, with his perfectly deepened dimples. "I didn't know this was your cabin. I thought I just woke in in some strangers house." Said Cath, adjusting her dress. Jest tucked a loose hair on her cheek behind her ear.
"When did you wake up?" Jest asked, holding Cathrine's hand. "Not long ago. But I think I woke up to the amazing smell of Apple Cobbler. I think I even dreamed about it..." Cath Said, grabbing the fork in her hands and putting another piece of the Cobbler in her mouth. She moaned in pleasure as she chewed. "Do you like it?" Jest snatched the fork from her hand and put a piece in his mouth. He hadn't tried it yet— and wow— it was delicious. "Yeah, it's amazing! Almost as good as mine—wait— did you make it? Because it seems like you enjoyed it." Cath Said, looking from the Cobbler to Jest, and back to the Cobbler. "Yep. Made it all myself. You see, you've been..um... well, a coma, and I had nothing better to do, so I decided to learn how to cook, and bake. I had a lot of free time; memorized every recipe in the cook book. I'm still working on baking though." Jest felt a sudden pride in himself. He learned a lot of recipes in not a lot of time.
Cath was about to sit back in her chair, but before she sat down in, she quickly shot back up.
"Wait—WAIT." Jest shout an eyebrow up. "Huh?" "Jest, wasn't I dead? The last thing I remember before I woke up, I felt an axe slice through me, and then....well, I don't know. I blacked out. Or died." Cath looked at Jest, but he wasn't looking at her. He was looking at the ground, with his hand scratching the name of his neck. "Oh hehe, yeah, funny story." He then dared himself to looked at her. She had her eyes widened. Then she crossed her arm and leaned on her right hip, and shook her head slowly.
"You made a deal with the three sisters to bring me back, didn't you?" Jest didn't respond, nor did he respond. "Do you Know the kind of deals they make, Jest? There evil... possessed little people." Then Cath realized and her jaw dropped for a second. "What did you say you would give them in return?" Jest then looked up.
"Jest?" There was a long silence.
"Ok, fine. In exchange to bring you back, they wanted me to..." he paused. "They wanted me to...to bring the Heart of the Red Queen in chess." He exhaled. Cath was still. "And... if you can't?"
She didn't want to know. She really didn't. "Then I Have to take your Heart instead."
Cathrine slapped him in the face. Hard. Jest tumbled over the chair, landing on it. He looked at her.
"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" Cathrine was infuriated; how could he make such a risky and deadly deal? "Jest, you should have just let me go." Jest stood up again, he held his hand up to his hair, but realized his hat was on, so he tore it off and threw it on the table. "Well, I guess I wasn't thinking at all. All I could think about was you, and how I could bring you back. I would have done anything to bring you back to me," Jest practically yelled. Cathrine took a step back in disbelief. She didn't know he was capable of that. Jest realized he was almost screaming, so he started again, with a smoother tone.
" Look Cathrine. I honestly don't know how I lived without you before. And ever since I saw you, I knew in that moment I would do anything for you. When you were killed, i honestly felt like dying. I felt Heartless. Like I had no purpose anymore. The sisters made me an offer that was impossible for me not to refuse. I had to Cath. No matter what I had to give in return. I would have given them my heart for you if it came to that." He took a step towards her and he grabbed her hands with both of his. He went close enough to her that he could kiss her.
"I love you Cathrine. My Heart is yours, only yours; and your Heart is mine, only mine."
Then he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her to him, and then he cupped her face with one hand, the other still on her waist. He kissed her.
