It's dark. Midoriya can't see a thing as his eyes opened. He blinked several times, wondering if there was just something in his eyes. Nothing came into view.
He brought his hand up to rub at his eyes as he sat up and looked out into the darkness. "H-hello..?," his voice barely broke the silence filling the room.
His eyes fell down to his right arm. Only barely visible in the blackness was a needle and tube stuck in his arm and fixed with a stretch of tape.
He clenched his jaw and his features scrunched together as he noticed a throbbing pain in his head. It was like his scull was being pounded with a hammer.
"Hello?" He asked again, a subconscious fear sinking in. "Where am I..?"
He threw his legs to the side, his feet hovering just above the floor; he had previously been sitting in a firm bed with his legs in front of him.
He felt alone, and overwhelmed. Afraid, but calm. Frantic yet blank. It was like he was trying and failing to think. At all. He knew something was wrong here, he just didn't know what. He had woken up in a strange room with something being pushed through his veins after all. But there was just a static, he couldn't focus on any certain thought, all logic had been thrown out the window.
Light.
A switch had been flipped and Midoriya could see everthing in the room. It was small and square, oddly comfortable. He was sitting on a twin-sized bed with a black comforter, a drip bag hanging and attached to his arm with a strange golden yellow liquid. There was a clean desk, a chair planted in front of it, a window on the opposite wall with a dark blue curtain, and a grey rug in the middle of the tiled floor.
"You're awake." A voice came from behind him, making him turn.
A man with blue hair, dry skin and cracked lips stood in a doorway at the end of the bed. He leaned against the wall with his arms crossed and a slight smile on his face.
"Um.. I'm sorry," Midoriya muttered awkwardly. "Do.. Do I know you," he asked, ashamed to not recognize the man standing before him.
"It's alright," the man said after a moment. He walked around the end of the bed and sat next to him. "You call me Tomura, I'm a friend. ....are you feeling ok?"
He shifted in his seat, "my head hurts.."
"Yeah," the man, Tomura, huffed. "You were hit pretty hard. The headache should go away in a few hours.. Is there anything else?"
Midoriya looked down to his arm again. "What is this for?" He lifted it, showing off the IV.
"Oh, that's just a medicine you needed. I can remove it now that you're awake, if you'd like." He looked to Midoriya questioningly.
He smiled softly and nodded. "Thank you," he offered his wrist over and Shigaraki peeled the tape before gently pulling out the needle. It didn't hurt at all and Midoriya was grateful for that.
He felt bad though, he realized that Tomura was kind and got the feeling that they knew each other well, but he still had no memory of the blue haired man. He felt close to him but there was only static in his mind.
They sat in silence for a while, Tomura had a watchful eye on the boy, though he didn't notice. Midoriya searched and searched through his mind, trying to remember even the smallest thing about his friend beside him. He came up blank as he stared at the floor with a thoughtful look.
And blank means blank. The more he thought, the more he realized was a blur. He had a few memories of a woman with straight green hair, she always seemed to be smiling, but he couldn't think of who she was. There was a memory of a man with dark messy hair walking through a door, that felt important but it was still a mystery. He remembered a kid with ash-blond hair falling into a river. He saw a slime that was alive. He saw a stadium filled with people cheering. He saw a campfire. He saw a room with posters of someone, someone he couldn't help feel a strong hate for; he resembled a comic book-esk super hero with a blue cape and red jumpsuit. All Might, he read on one of the posters. Then he saw himself in a mirror, his tousled green hair and freckles scattered on his cheeks. He knew his face.
"Tomura.." He said quietly. "What is my name?" He looked over to him, a sad look on his face.
"...Midoriya."
