This is what Marilyn looks like for those wondering.....I never did put an image of what she looked like and I apologize. 💘
One thing that I've seemed to challenge myself with, was making friends. I have made some. Angela, Denise, Vanessa, Tony, Olivia, Freddy, and Frankie, being the main ones. We've all acquired a relationship over the past 5 years that we've been students there. I had been invited to join them at the Knicks game. Denise's older brother Luke had some court side tickets but his girlfriend called him last minute with some urgent events, that forced him to give up his 8 tickets into the hands of Denise.
As my music plays throughout my apartment, I start to pick out my outfit, deciding to wear my distressed ripped black jeans with a cute, but yet simple sweater with flowered details on it. After I finish paring my choice of clothing, I begin to assemble my items and begin to put them in my purse for the night. Car keys, my apartment keys, my wallet, and a few other essentials that I suppose would be needed for the night. I pass over my phone and notice some notifications. "11 new messages and 4 missed calls.", I mumble, unlocking my phone wondering what might have happened that I must be notified of. I see that my sister Gisele had called, her being the main suspect for the notifications on my phone. "Hello? Marilyn. Cara and I are in town, for business, and are wondering if you'd like to join us. We've got reservations at Novu.", I sigh, knowing that I'll sadly have to decline the invitation. I always loved being around my sisters, they've always been such successful independent woman that I've admired from a young age. I hear a knock at the door assuming that the girls have made their way to my apartment. I quickly gather my belongings, "I'm sorry Gisele, but I've already got some plans with a few friends. How long are you guys going to be in town? Maybe I can catch you guys for lunch tomorrow?", I reply glancing over my outfit once more after turning off my stereo. "It's ok. We're leaving Sunday and we have a meeting tomorrow afternoon. But we'll come by your place tomorrow morning maybe for some breakfast. How does that sound?", I approach my door and open it seeing my friends all nicely dressed in jeans and cute shirts. "Sounds great! I've got to go.", I say hanging up as we head down the apartment stairs.
We make it to Vanessa's car, surprisingly nice for a college student. A range rover, obviously a past birthday present from years ago. We all hop in. Vanessa in the drivers seat; me in the passenger, since I was the only one who knew where Madison Square Garden was; and Angela, Denise, and Olivia in the backseats. We begin small talk, mostly due to the anxiety that we have to see the game. "I'm just excited to see Kris Humphries! What if 'the Kardashians' are there?!", I roll my eyes playfully at Olivia's statement. She's always had an eye for sports, mainly focusing on the players more than the game played. "I'm excited to see the Clippers.", Vanessa butts in. "Oh come on Liv, don't you have a boyfriend?! Just like all of us. The only one who should even be looking at those players is Marilyn.", I put my face in my hands attempting to hide the well known blush in my face. We continue a few moments more of small talk. Discussing different topics while I spent most of the time dazing into a much deeper thoughts.
For the past few weeks I've been thinking deeper and deeper about starting to date. I've had the courage to try an pursue in a relationship, but I don't have the courage to introduce someone close to me, to my family. My family has standards, especially my sisters. Most of them were for me. The supposed dream guy that my parents wanted me to be with a successful gentlemen, a rich guy, in their eyes. But to me I wanted someone simple but still a bit interesting, I never fully had standards set for a future guy in my life. I've just learned to go with the flow. I get snapped out of my thoughts and back into reality as I notice the big crowd going into the sold out Madison Square Garden arena. We pull into a parking spot and head towards the main entrance where we had decide, beforehand, to meet Freddy, Tony, and Frankie. "Hey guys." We are greeted with the boys all wearing basketball jerseys except for Tony. Freddy and Frankie are diehard Knicks fans, they've been this way since they were littles. I've been told. But Tony on the other hand, was not that into basketball, he was more into soccer and hockey. Growing up he played them every year. "Shall we head in, I hear it's getting pretty crowded. It be best if we try to get some good seats." Frankie says wrapping an arm around his girlfriend Angela. They've been dating since sophomore year, they were acting partners and have been deeply in love since.
