We arrive to the crowded scenery, swarmed with paparazzi and a few fans. "Is it always like this?!", I ask, observing the paparazzi flashing their cameras and shuffling with others to get good angles. "Sometimes.", Blake hops out of the car and comes over to mine opening my door, just like a gentlemen should. "Thank you.", I say taking his hand as I pull my dress down. We head into the restaurant and are ushered to the rooftop, where other Clipper players were chatting amongst themselves. I follow Blake to a lounge area, where I see DeAndre Jordan and his beautiful girlfriend, Amber, in a stunning black dress. "Everyone this is Marilyn. Marilyn this is everyone.", I receive some waves from everyone, and receive some 'hellos'. We join them all on the couch and begin small talk. Somehow through the evening, I find myself talking deeply to the other girls, Jada, Gloria, and Amber about fashion and one another. The waiters and waitress' bring out the entrees. I look at the plates to see what seems to be, raw oysters and calamari. Blake then leads me to a table along with Chris, Matt, Gloria, Jada, DeAndre, and Amber. Once we are seated we begin to eat. We go along with dinner with small talk, discussing about the future season or last nights game too me being blasted with questions about my family and other things. After we finish, Blake and I drift a part from the rest of the team to develope some small talk about one another.
*A Few Moments Later....*
"So, you lived overseas your whole life?! Plus you were rich!", I chuckle at the sudden excitement noticable in Blake's voice as he finds out more about me. "It wasn't all that great, trust me. Always being blastered with paparazzi and fake friends. Plus the amount of pressure, that my family had on my siblings and I, to be exactly like them when we were to get older. I've always wanted a regular life and that's what I've found moving to 'The Big Apple'.", I reply chuckling, noticing Blake's excitement now turn serious. "So with all that fame and money that you had growing up... you never liked any of it. Not even a bit of it?", The blistering cold New York wind hits me as I begin gathering my thoughts. Predicting and preparing for this long thorough talk, that we were about to indulge in. "I liked the traveling part of it, mainly seeing all the different cultures. But I would always wonder how it would be like if I didn't have to worry about fans of my parents or security, keeping us on sharp lockdown 24/7.", Blake hands me a glass of Champagne, drinking his glass more like a shot. Seemingly to celebrate the win of last night's game, but mainly because the glass was so small in his massive hands. "Someone's happy.", I say, chuckling as Blake goes and takes another glass from one of the tending bartenders nearby. I receive a small chuckle from him, along with a settle mumble as he nods and shakes his head. "It's just that, you'd think that a girl whose come from riches and move, at a young age, to a place where you literally, "start from the bottom", and just never complain about it. To actually want to feel like your just a sympathetic "plain old someone" that 'The Big Apple' can make out of a person. But I mean, everyone has that one dream and they gotta go after it no matter what." Something about him made me believe that he understood me. Not only the fact that he didn't laugh in my face or mock my beliefs or desire at life. But he accepted it and I knew that, I felt like I could talk to him about this stuff for a lifetime. But we only had tonight, since he was heading back to Miami, tomorrow afternoon, to play the ultimate dream team, The Miami Heat. "Ok, so you get where I'm coming from?", I look at him to see him nodding, "Not in the way that you did it, but I understand the motive behind your thought. I would've probably done something different, maybe settle into a little estate in Hawaii. Or even join the peace corp, that would be if I hadn't joined the NBA, but I've already joined, so...",
We chat for what seems like hours. The whole rooftop cleared out, leaving just me and him. Plus the workers who were now cleaning up. "Ready to go!", Blake grabs our coats, helping me into mine, then leading me downstairs into the now-closing restaurant. "Aye Blake! The buses are loading up!!", Once outside, we close up our conversations. "Imma walk her home. I'll catch up with y'all at the hotel!", Blake received some nods from his waiting teammates, but mostly a shout or two from his teammates, Matt and DeAndre. I roll my eyes as Blake and I begin making our way in the direction of my apartment. "You have a good time?", I'm asked as we cross a crosswalk, passing along side Central Park. "Yeah. It was a fun night.", I say as we proceed to walk.
Once we reach the house, my phone clock reads 11:32. "It's late.", Blake says surprisingly and a little stunned. "Why so stunned. Is the late time intervening with your bedtime?", I ask giggle as I receive a small yawn from Blake, along with him whipping the sleep away from his eyes. "As a matter of fact it is!", He says moving closer to me, approaching me more confident than he had been at the beginning of the night. "So when can I see you again?", He asks confidently, attempting to act cool. "I'll call you.", I say kissing him on the cheek, then backing into my apartments building lobby. "That sounds good.", He says biting his lips, while watching me through the glass see through windows as I make my way up the stairs and to the 2nd floor. I make it into my room, quickly unzipping my dress and throwing off my shoes, hurrying to the bedroom, completely turning into my old settle self again. I cuddle into bed after showering and brushing my teeth, making sure to plug my phone in for its nightly charge. "Wow, what a day!", I mumble beginning to fall asleep after such an adventurous day. Oh boy....
