THIRTY NINE

the next month and a half was hard for joshua mentally and physically but it was now spring break and he felt like he could breathe again.

him, tyler, and tyler's parents were spending the weekend up in chagrin falls, a tradition they did every year during spring break and this year they invited joshua.

joshua finished packing his bag, making sure he had everything he needed and walked into his sisters room.

"you ready to go to hayley's?" he asked her. she smiled and nodded her head and grabbed her bag. the two walked out of their beaten down house and into joshua's car.

on the way to hayley's, joshua spoke up. "what are you guys planning on doing? I heard ashley say she was going over there to lay on her deck. are you guys tanning?" he asked her curiously.

"i'm a redhead." his sister deadpanned. joshua let out a snort and nodded his head. "yeah you are. you get that from mom" he smiled as he ruffled her hair.

once they got to hayley's, he said his goodbyes to his sister and made sure she was completely okay before he left for the weekend. after doing that, he drove to tyler's.

pulling up to tyler's, he got out of his car and was immediately pulled in for a hug.

"hi" tyler said squeezing him. "—are you excited to go?" he asked him.

joshua smiled and pecked his lips. "of course I am"

tyler squealed and grabbed joshua's bags. "then what are you waiting for? c'mon!" he replied as he began putting their bags in his father's truck. joshua stood there with the biggest grin on his face thinking 'I really am in love with him.'

"it's a two hour drive so make sure that you are comfortable" chris said as they piled up in his truck. the boys nodded their heads and shifted their bodies so that they were comfortable. tyler put his hood up on his hoodie and laid his head on joshua's shoulder, letting out a soft yawn.

joshua smiled at him and kissed his nose. "go to sleep if you are tired, love" he said quietly.

tyler's eyes fluttered shut as he snuggled closer to joshua. "mkay" he mumbled. "—only if you go to sleep too. you look sleepy" he added. joshua laughed but pulled the blanket on the both of them and the two slept for the rest of the drive.

"wake up. we're at a diner" kelly said as he shook the two boys. joshua moved and opened his eyes, wincing at the sun and stretched his legs. he noticed tyler was completely laying on him and he scrunched his nose up in confusion to how they ended up laying in that position.

joshua noticed tyler was still sleeping and he shook his arm. "wake up" he said gently. tyler whined and tightened his arms around joshua's frame and that made joshua's whole body fill with love.

he laughed and kissed his lips. "c'mon baby, we are at a diner"

tyler's eyes widened as he immediately got up. "milly's?" he asked excitedly. joshua looked towards the sign and nodded.

"I love milly's!" tyler said as he jumped out the car. they all walked in and found a spot near the window. tyler grabbed joshua's hand and played with it under the table while they were looking at their menus. he looked up at tyler and smiled, nuzzling their noses together.

"hi my name is tatum can I get you started off with something to drink-oh hello joseph's!" a girl with brown hair and freckles said.
