I reread the text over and over in my head. My dad was here? What was he going to do? "What the hell," I said. Calum grabbed the phone out of my hand and started typing. "Calum, what are you doing?!" I yelled, trying to grab my phone back from him. He finished typing and gave the phone back. I looked at the screen and saw the sent text.
"How do I know it's you? Leave me alone." I looked at Calum in shock and anger.
"Why did you do that? He was trying to help!" I yelled angrily. Calum's voice was set.
"You don't know who it really is. You said it yourself, he abandoned you. If you're not going to be cautious about this, I will," he said calmly. I sighed and sat down on the bed.
"You're right," I said quietly. Calum let out a sigh and rubbed the back of his neck guiltily.
"Hey, don't make that face. It makes me feel bad," he said. Calum stood in front of me and grabbed one of my hands.
"Good," I said, smiling lightly. Calum chuckled lightly. I heard my phone ring again and slowly picked it up. On the screen read two simple words "Wallpaper wishes". My eyes widened as the words ran thorugh my mind. "It's him," I whispered. "He's back." Calum read the text.
"What's wallpaper wishes?" he asked me. I smiled at the memories.
"When I was little, my dad and I had come up with an idea to write down all of our wishes, dreams, and goals. We decorated a whole wall that had small notes and drawings of places we wanted to see, things we wanted to do. It was our special secret. The only one who knew about it was me and my parents," I explained to him. I typed into my phone.
"I have so many questions." Immediately there was a respond.
"Meet me at our castle." I got up, grabbing my bag, and headed for the door.
"Where are you going?" Calum asked, grabbing my arm.
"I need to talk to him. I need answers," I said, and shook away from his grip. Calum stopped and grabbed his jacket.
"Then I'm coming with you," he said as we made our way downstairs. I stopped and turned around.
"No, you're not. I have to go alone." Calum chuckled and walked past me.
"It's cute that you think I'm going to listen to you," he said and walked out the door. We walked through the suburban streets not saying a word. I looked around and smiled. "What?" Calum chuckled.
"Do you think I made a dent in the pavement?" I asked, pointing to the middle of the street. I couldn't believe I was there 2 weeks ago. Calum smiled.
"Well if you did, now I'll always remember this street," he said. I shoved him slightly and laughed. "Honestly I'm glad I decided to take the long way home that day," he said seriously. I looked at him and smiled. We slowly made our way to a small playground with an old play structure in the middle of a small sand pit. I smiled and walked over to the structure.
"My dad and I spent hours everyday running around and playing games here when I was little," I said, walking through the sand. I ran a hand around the cool metal structure, slowly walking up the steps. "I used to pretend I was a princess stuck in the castle and he was the prince coming to rescue me," I whispered. I stood at the very top of the play sturcture, Calum standing beside me. I chuckled. "Man how that has changed." I looked down clutching the metal bars in front of me.
"You haven't changed at all," a voice said below me. I brought my head up and stared down below us.
"Dad."
