Using her as a test subject as soon as she was born, they amplified her powe...
"So, you can remove HYDRA from my mind" Avalon said
"Yes" Shuri replied with a nod, looking at her with a small smile "but . . I fear it will be a bit more difficult with you. Especially since you were physically born in HYDRA, they could have been more thorough than with your father"
"But . . ." She trailed off "what if you make a mistake? Like they did"
"I do not make mistakes" the princess assured "but I will fix the mistakes they made, and make your powers stable . . . and let you live until your triple digit age"
Earlier that day, Shuri had pulled Avalon to the side to talk to her in private. The serum that HYDRA used to activate her powers had repercussions, ones they decided to overlook and continue on with their project. But no one expected the serum to slowly kill her, and the thing is, Avalon didn't even feel the effects happening, only believing Shuri when she showed the results of her blood, watching as her blood cells were slowly being eaten by the cells of the serum. No words were spoken for those few moments, but Avalon closed her eyes and lowered her head slightly, ignoring the tear that slid down her cheek, which had made Peter grow concerned when he saw her. He put a hand on her shoulder and turned her around, asking her what was wrong, but Avalon couldn't bring herself to say anything, so Shuri explained everything.
Peter didn't know what to think, and he's been quiet ever since.
". . . How long will it take?" Avalon asked "to remove HYDRA from my mind?"
"Days" Shuri replied "maybe weeks. It all depends on the extent of what they did"
"And I won't remember any of it?" She asked "the process, I mean"
"No" she answered honestly "I can guarantee that"
". . . Don't tell my father" Avalon said softly "he just got me back, I don't want him to feel like he's losing me again"
"I promise not to tell him" Shuri said "but I will need a few blood samples from you so I can fix this" hesitating for a moment "you have become a dear friend to me, Avalon, thank you for letting me help"
"You've helped me a lot, already" she replied, looking down at the ring that lay around her right middle finger

The ring was designed to control Avalon's self detonation when she sleeps, the only thing that was a little confusing for them was the fact that her power still activates, but it doesn't destroy anything. It's almost like her power was protecting her while she slept, and even those she trusted. Shuri figured when Avalon is asleep, her powers believe she's in danger because of her dreams, thus, activating the self detonation, but they weren't entirely sure, they would have to do more testing in the future to actually figure it out. But at that moment, the three of them needed to focus on removing HYDRA from Avalon's mind.
"So when do we start?" Avalon asked, looking at Shuri
"We can start right after I get your blood samples" Shuri answered
