Chapter Twenty Two:

Days later, the invitations came in the mail. It had been around dinner time, and the small envelope's had been shoved under the doorframe quietly. Hazel had been coming from the bathroom when she saw three, a wax red seal with the outline of the IronMan helmet.

She walked over and picked them up, looking at their names printed out on the white envelope with black ink.

Steven G. Rogers.
Hazel R. Barnes.
James B. Barnes.

She sighed, walking into the living room. The TV was off, and Steve and Bucky were in conversation. She didn't hear much, but from what she gathered they were talking about their teenage years.

"These were under the door." She said handing them their envelopes with their name on it. Steve took his and held it out in front of him, she moved over to Bucky and watched as he gently took his own and frowned at it.

Hazel sat next to him, removing the wax seal as carefully as she could. The card was simple, with a picture of Tony smiling at the top. Underneath it there was fancy writing, telling the place, time and information about him.

Celebrating Life
In memory of Anthony Stark.

She could hear him scoff in her head at the mention of his full name, they all knew how much he hated it.

"It's tomorrow." Steve looked up from his card, "At one."

"At his house." Hazel added, trying to picture Morgan there. That poor girl, losing her father. Hazel shook her head, hoping that Morgan was doing ok. "It's only been a few days, how did they plan this so fast?"

"No doubt Tony already had his funeral planned." Steve frowned, "He probably figured one of us was going to die, and he knew he'd make it be him."

She placed it on the table, pursing her lips as she stared at it. "Do we call Pepper and tell her we're coming? She must know we are, regardless of an invitation."

There was a knock on the door, and Hazel jumped up, "Maybe it's Pepper. I'll get it." She told them walking towards the entrance.

It was not Pepper Potts, the person who stood on the other side was Carol Danvers.

"Carol?" Hazel questioned, "Hello?"

"Hey, kid." She gave a warm smile, "Can I come in?"

Hazel raised a finger, telling her to wait. This was still Steve's apartment and she didn't want to let anyone in without him agreeing.

"Steve!" She hollered, "Can Carol come in?"

She stepped in anyways, walking down the hall into the living room. Hazel rushed after the women, sliding to stop on the hardwood.

"Hazel's going to come with me for a bit."

"I am?"

Carol gave her a nod, "Yes, you are."

"I guess I am." Hazel looked between both Steve and Bucky.

Steve stood up, brows scrunched as he looked at them both. "Where are you taking her?"

"Errands." The women said slinking an arm around Hazel, leading her back towards the front door. "She'll be back before eight."
