After I finished, the man came to the stage again. "Ok. Now you take five minutes to vote for your favorite." He said. "The finalists can't vote."
"I know who I am voting for." Said Laura. "It's obvious." Everyone received a piece of paper with both our names on it. I watched as Laura and Lilly put a check mark next to my name. I smiled with the expectation that I would win.
The papers were passed in and I saw Kelli with a smirk on her face as a looked to her side seeing Gabby give me a dirty look. I sassed her back. Probably not a good time to do that. It was almost nine.
The owner went up to the stage for the last time. "Ok." He said. "Now we have a winner." He opened the envelope. "The winner is," He started, with a drumroll. "Madi Treble!" Everyone roared with applause as Shannon, Kelli, and Gabby ran outside.
"That was amazing, Madi." Said Lilly. "I could not sing to save my life." Laura stayed behind and talked to the manager as Lilly and I went outside and into the woods. "Why are we going in there again?" I asked. "I don't know." Lilly said. "I just usually do. It's what I am." "Yeah. I know." I said.
We walked deeper and came across Shannon and Kelli up ahead. Shannon was crying. I had a feeling she saw me because her eyes turned red and she started running at me. I just slid to the side as she flew past me and stumbled in the brambles. "Turn!" She said. "What!?" I pretended to be confused. "I have no idea what you are talking about. We are the number one seed. And we are playing North Conway at 11:00am tomorrow." "You darn wolf, turn!" She yelled. "I don't care about the standings." I just walked away.
