Rey and Rapunzle also have a lot in common.

Neither of them could remember their parents or their past.

Both are the "Light."

Both were trapped somewhere their whole lives. (Rapunzle, the tower/ Rey Jakku.) Until they turn 18/19 years old and decide to leave. But once they do, all they want to do is go back.

Kylo Ren is actually a bit like Flynn Rider.

Both have a troubled past, that still affects them and leads them down a dark path.

Both of them created a name for themselves that they thought would help others like or fear them more. Flynn Rider/ Kylo Ren. They are both trying to hide their true selves Eugene Fitzhurbert/ Ben Solo.

Rapunzle was the first person Flynn/ Eugene told his real name to.

Beyond his family, Rey was the first character to call him "Ben." She is also the first person he shares any part of his past with.

Flynn then helps Rapunzle discover her own past.

After sharing a part of his past, Ben shares a part of her past, that he had seen in Force.

Rapunzle didn't judge Flynn because of his past. Rey didn't judge Kylo because of his past. In fact it helped them understand them more.

Unlike everyone else, Rapunzle liked his true self, Eugene an orphan, better than what he was pretending to be, Flynn Rider, legendary outlaw.

Rey also liked his true self, Ben Solo, better than what he was trying to be Kylo Ren.

Rapunzle tries to bring Flynn to the light, and succeeds, helping him become Eugene again.

Rey tries to bring Kylo to the light. Rather she will succeed and help him become Ben again, we will have to wait until episode IX.
