Ben's sleep was filled with nightmares, just as it always had been. Dark frightening images filled his mind and though he was no longer a young boy, he was still terrified. He tossed and turned, but he couldn't wake himself up.
Suddenly, out of the shadows a bright figure stepped towards him. It was Rey, she pulled him out of the darkness and pain that filled his sleep. He looked down to see that a small child clutched her hand, a little boy. Her son... their son. The boy smiled up at him, reaching for his hand. Ben took the boy's hand and the darkness faded completely to reveal a peaceful island. The boy stood between them holding both their hands as they watched the twin suns set on the horizon.
Ben looked at Rey, she turned to smile at him before her eyes fell to look at their son.
Ben opened his eyes with a small start, nothing had ever been able to pull him away from the terrible images that filled his nightmares. But now he couldn't remember any of them... he could only remember the image of himself and Rey standing hand in hand with their child. He had never had a good dream before, it felt strange but wonderful.
"Did you have a nightmare?" He heard her ask.
He turned to see her standing there, he felt slightly embarrassed that she had been watching him sleep. The Force always seemed to choose the worst times to connect them. "No..." he answered trying to seem fearless, but she could feel it, see it in his eyes. "Well... yes."
She came over and sat on the bed next to him. She timidly reached up to rub his back, hoping to comfort him. "What happened?" she asked softly.
"I don't remember. I can't remember anything accept..."
"What?" she asked after a moment.
"I couldn't wake up, I couldn't escape the terrible pain that filled my nightmare... until I saw you and..."
She took his hand. "And..."
"Our child," he whispered.
She gasped slightly, the words shocked her.
"Then all of the pain just melted away and it was just us."
She swallowed hard. "That doesn't sound bad."
He nodded, "I just didn't expect to see something like that."
"Me either," she agreed. "Do you think it's the future?"
He looked at her for a long moment. "I hope so," he whispered. This is just a scene that I would like to see in The Rise of Skywalker.
