18: Off Guard

Dylan's POV

I slowing scoop her up in my arms and she cuddles into my chest.

"Dyls, I'm so tired , I feel like I can't rest"

A press a gentle kiss on her forehead and she sleeply smiles.. and mumbles something I can't make out.

"Rest now, Noona, you're safe"

I open the door to one of the guest rooms and set her down covering her with the blanket.

Shen Yue's POV

"I feel so well rested the most I've ever felt in years"

I take a sip of my iced peach mango tea and shiver a little, Wu Dugu smiles and looks away shaking his head.

"Aish, why do you always get cold drinks when it's below freezing out , I will never understand you"

Wu Dugu grabs my hand in his annoyed and blows on them trying to warm them up.

"How are things lately with you ?"

I smile. "I'm doing better , I'm starting therapy soon"

Wu Dugu smiles warmly. "That's amazing , I'm glad , you need healing"

"What about you , Wu Dugu, you keep disappearing on me!!"

"I don't think I want involve someone I care about in my crappy life especially if they have enough on their own plate"

He force a small smile and quickly frowned.

"Don't be so hard on yourself , what could be so bad that you don't want to tell me"

"Just that woman appeared again in my life only to tell me something that left completely shattered, I'm coping with it though, and I got a restraining order on her, so she won't harm me again"

I grab his hand.. "don't worry, I know what it's like , it's hard to let people in , huh ?"

He nods. "I trusted her and loved her, and she just left and keeps coming back to just make me feel more like crap, but hopefully that dark and painful past cane stay in the past and let me rest"

"My father is something I need to cope with according to my therapist"

"And they're correct!, once you come to conclusion you can't do anything or it isn't your fault , you begin seeing the positives of your life's instead of the negative"

I looked out the window and notice it began slowing snowing... and I excitedly stand up and head to the window.

"It's actually snowing!!"

I run outside and behind me I feel Wu Dugu grab onto my wrist.

"Miss Ramen lover, you have gone outside without a sweater , how dare you, how is a thin small sweater going to warm you up, and YOU'RE PREGNANT!!!"

He removes his big coat and cover me with it...

"Shame on you!"

I laugh shaking my head. "I have always been fond of cold weather, it's just this year I forgot about the little one"

"Aish, you, woman take care of yourself better , what's Dylan going to say if he sees your out with a thin sweater!"

My eyes widen and I see him take out his phone ready to dial his number.

I attempt to grab his phone but he's too tall.

I groan. "I won't do it again just please don't tell Dylan, he's a sweetheart but he's been super overprotective as he should be but he's been treating me like a porcelain doll!"

"Fine , I won't tell Dylan"

I rush back inside grabbing my tea, and come back out.

"Shen Yue, can I ask you something?"

Wu Dugu puts his hands in his pockets looking out watching the snow fall.

"Go ahead"

I take a big sip from the tea happily and put my hand out feeling the snow hit my hand.

"A woman recently showed me in my life what it was like being strong , even tough circumstances, she's a warrior even though she doesn't see herself as one"

I look at him, He couldn't have been speaking about me right ?

I was far from strong, I use to be until I showed my weak way to often and now all I do is show it, and now I can't even trust people who deserve to be trusted... I shriek back.

"That's why I think I'm falling for you, because you understand me so well, and your personality is just making me fall even harder"

My eyes widen, as he comes closer and closer and I finally hit the wall.. and his face is inches away from mine.

"I- um"

He brings a finger close to my lips indicating for me to not say anything.

"I know,you're not ready and that someone else might have already taken your heart, but if that's not the case , please give me a chance, you don't have to answer now"

He moves away, I didn't even know what to say or think he caught me completely off guard.

I grab my phone dialing Wynter's
number using our code that got us out of awkward situations.

"Hey Wynnie, did you still need me to pick up the kimchi ingredients for me to make later"

"Definitely, it'll go well with our meal later!"

"Okay, I'll catch a bus, and head to the grocery store"

I hang up and a smile at Wu Dugu. "Duty calls, sister is hungry and I have to take care of her"

Wu Dugu grabs my hand squeezing it, "Don't overwork yourself , think of your health and the baby's!"

I nod walking away rushing so the bus wouldn't leave me.

Rushing home I quickly come inside bringing our meals.

"Burgers!"

Wynter rushes to grab the bag from me taking out the meals.

Emotionless I stand there unable to process what happened earlier.

"Why are you so tense , what the heck happened?"

She says with a mouthful of food in her mouth.

"He confessed"

She swallows quickly and rushes over to me. "Dylan!?"

I shake my head. "No , Wu Dugu did, he said he that I understand him so well and he's falling for me because of it, and because of my personality"

She looks at me shaking me.

"That's amazing , two guys, and one of them confessed, so what was your answer ?"

"I didn't answer, because he caught me off guard"

She gasped. "Shen Yue, why?"

"Because I have mixed feelings, I don't even know what I'm feeling, I haven't healed from things and I just can't jump into a relationship"

"So heal yourself and figure out what you feel for him and Dylan"

She walks back over to her food and begins eating again.
