1 year and 1/2 and nobody other then a boy has arrived in the box, that is until a unthinkable mistake was made.
Eliza ended up in the Glade just like everyone else did. Wake up in a box with no memories, do...
The sun was starting to rise slowly over the walls, painting the sky a golden yellow.
The Glade was dead silent except for a few animals and the snores of sleeping Gladers. Some slept in hammocks, while others in sleeping bags across the lawn.
"Where are we going?" I whispered to Newt as we walked, makeing sure to not wake anyone.
"You'll see." He whispered.
I followed him to the opposite side of the Glade, walking through the piles of sleeping boys. I was sure not to step on most of them but accidentally stepped on someone's hand, him letting out a little cry of pain as I quickly apologized and ran back to Newt.
We walked over to the walls, and stood in front of one specific spot where a thick patch of ivy hung. Newt pushed the ivy to the side, revealing a window.
It was old and dirty, scratches covered it and it was so dark on the other side, you could barely see through it.
Newt nodded his head towards it, gesturing for me to look into it. Slowly I walked over and leaned in, my face inches away from the glass.
I could see something faintly, movement. Lights flicked on the other side and shines of metal.
"Don't worry, they can't get in." He said smoothly.
"Who's they-" I was cut off by a boom. Whatever was on the other side of that glass just leaped at it, shaking the ground.
I fell backwards screaming, "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!" I yelled scooting away from the window. Newt quickly covered my mouth with his hand and shushed me.
"Shhh! Bloody hell, are you TRYING to wake the whole Glade woman?" He whisper-yelled.
I pushed his hand off my mouth and whispered a small "sorry" while standing back up.
I looked outside the window again. I saw the whole creature, it looked horrific.

It had a slimy green body that looked half animal, half mechanic. With metal spider legs, spikes, and other sharp contraptions that only look like they could end in one way: death.
A long metal tail with pitchers connected at the end of its body. Lights seemed to be connected to it's legs and in different spots of its back. Whatever this thing was, it was disgusting.
"What is that?" I asked looking at Newt, backing away from the window a bit and standing straight up.
"We call em' Grievers, bloody bastards they are. Stalk the maze at night, kill anything that moves. They scream too, at night. They did on your first night here."
"Maze?" I asked.
"That's what's out there, a maze. It changes every night and we've found no exit yet. Been looking for a year and a half now." He explained. "Which is one of the most important rules here. Never leave the Glade unless your a Runner, ever. Because if you leave and the doors close, you may as well just kill yourself then. Nobody who's ever been stuck out there overnight has lived." He said.
