"What are you doing here?" I asked confused. I didn't expect anyone to come over here to the Slammer just to see me.

"Well I couldn't just let you starve now could I?" He asked raising a eyebrow at my question. "You get to leave tomorrow evening, and the day after that you get the tour, start jobs, and get officially settled in."

"How are you going to get the food to me?" I asked pointing at the bars on the window.

"This is where it gets risky. Can I trust you to not run away if I open the door and hand you the food and lantern?" He asked in a serious tone.

"Yeah, where would I go anyway?" I said.

All of a sudden the ground rumbled and a deafening boom sound all across the Glade. I jumped back and started having a bit of a panic attack.

"Don't worry, it's just the doors closing." Newt said as if it was the most casual thing in the world like eating and breathing.

"The WHAT?!" I asked in a bit of a scream.

"Shhhh!!" Newt hissed putting a finger over his lips. "I'm not supposed to be here, and your bloody lucky Frypan didn't mind making a extra plate for you."

"Who's Frypan?" I asked confused.

"Our cook, don't worry I'll explain everything later." He said getting up and walking over to the locked door. I heard him pull out his keys and the little click of the lock opening.

Quickly, the door opened and Newt set the water, plate and lantern down a few feet in front of the door before quickly closing and locking it.

"Wait a minute, what happened to the chair?" He pointed at it through the window.

"N-Nothing! Must have hit it or something when they put me in here!" I stuttered. All that was a straight up lie!

"Alright then," he gave me a suspicious look. "I'll be here tomorrow to bring you lunch, and you'll be out by time for dinner." He said.

"Thank you." I said with a smile.

"Your welcome." Newt smiled back, and I swear it could cure cancer. He was so nice to me already, I couldn't imagine why someone would put a boy like him here to rot away with the rest of us.

"Goodnight." I whispered to him.

"Goodnight," he said as the left me alone again. Walking over tree roots and the grassy land heading over back to the big wooden building.

I turned around and sat back down, pulling the lantern and plate closer to me. The food was still as warm as it would be freshly served, a fork placed with it.

I ate quickly because of the hunger and finished the whole plate. It felt good to have more energy in my system. I then chugged the whole water bottle down to the last drop.

I placed the plate and empty bottle next to the door and sat back down next to the lantern. I watched the flames dance around as well as a moth fly right into it, burning to a crisp.

Now I was getting tired. I looked out at the sky and the moon wasn't out either, no surprise at this point. A deep growl came in the distance. Clicks, buzzes, and other sounds echoed over the land.

My stomach dropped.

What the hell is that?! I thought.

It sounded eerie, and disturbingly inhuman.

It wailed and screamed loud, I wanted it to stop.

I wanted to scream for help, but nobody would come. Except for maybe one person.

Newt.

What I couldn't understand was why was he so nice to me? So caring, and trustworthy? He doesn't know me, but it feels like he does.

The disturbing sounds stopped as quickly as they started, and I slowly fell asleep softly.

Images of splotchy memories in every picture I dreamed.
