Blayke P.O.V
I sprinted down the hallway, past the lab rooms, past the other patients and scientists.
They couldn't be taking her away!
I heard some of the guards behind me begin to yell after me.
"There she is!"
"Grab her!"
I needed to get to her, keep them from taking her away. But there was problem, the only way I could get to her was through the 4 way hallway, and no doubt there would be guards waiting there for me.
But it was the only way.
The sound of the alarm boomed from above and red lights filled the buildings. The heavy footsteps of the guard's behind me slowly drew louder and louder the closer the got.
I knew they wouldn't shoot me, not under Ava Paige's watch, but most likely under Janson's.
But she wasn't here, she was with Teresa and Thomas in the lab opposite the rest, the one with her in it.
Janson was the one who sent the guards.
I had to lose them though, because if I was right about him sending them, he would have me dead on the spot.
I pushed up my glasses farther on my nose, my hair whipping behind me, I kept going as fast as could.
I was navigating the hallways as best I could with the darkened maroon light casting shadows in every corner imaginable.
With the unrelenting footsteps, I figured the best way to lose them was through the stairwell. I found the closest one, the shiny EXIT sign glowing brighter then the ceiling lights.
I kicked it open and ran through, slamming it shut behind me. I pulled a latch on it, locking it up tight. But the guards would be able to get through, at least I had a head start.
I raced down the 7 flights of stairs as fast as I could, skipping a few every so often. My chest ached from my pounding heartbeat, and I could feel the pulse in my ears.
