I looked around te Blood House, there were knives on tables and and already butchered animals hanging up.

THIS is going to be a adventure

A sliding door opened to the pens of animals outside. I walked over to the butchering table. Blood was smeared on the wooden butchering block and knives, the remains of organs and bones sat in a bucket next to the table.

I had to look away or I would have thrown up. The smell was horrible, I don't know how Winston or any other Slicers can do this everyday without getting sick.

Dry hay was scattered across the floor of the barn so where the blood drips off the dead animal and table, it will drip onto the hay and then you can just sweep it away; keeping the floor somewhat cleaner then you would expect.

Where is Winston? I thought. He wasn't anywhere to be seen, wait. Now that I realized, I'm the only person in here. A bit of panic started waving over me. Not only was I in a creepy barn with dead animals and knives covered in blood, I was completely alone.

"Uh, Winston?" I called. No answer.

A sound of rustling came from some hay bales in the corner of the room behind me. I slowly turned to be met with a dark corner.

The rustling grew louder and I saw something move in the shadows.

"Winston," I whispered, then the animal jumped out at me.

"HOLY SHIT!!" I screamed as the animal jumped on top of me pushing me onto the ground. It was half my size and furry, then it started licking my face?

"Bark! Get off of her now!" I heard Winston yell behind me pushing the animal off of me.

Bark? I wondered.

Winston pulled me to my feet while scolding Bark.

"What did we tell you about being in the Blood House? You've been here two years and you still won't listen! Don't you jump on her again, mischievous dog!"

I looked at Bark, he was big a black lab with a tail that went a mile a minute.

"Are you okay Eliza?" Winston asked brushing some hay off of my shirt and hair

"Are you okay Eliza?" Winston asked brushing some hay off of my shirt and hair.

"Yeah, just scarred me." I reassured him, luckily I didn't get any blood on me, only hay.

"Sorry I wasn't here when you got here! Outside in the pens grabbing some chickens when I heard you scream." He apologised.

"It's okay. Now, what should we get started with?" I asked.

We spent the rest of the morning working, and Winston told me where everybody was when Bark jumped on me.

Apparently all the other Slicers were outside too because they were also with the animals. All of them being within earshot of me screaming my head off because a dog jumped on me. A few makeing some dirty sexual jokes because Bark's a boy and I'm a girl and he jumped on top of me.

We then fed the cows, cleaned the chicken cages and grabbed some to butcher (me getting a bit attached to some of them.) Winston showed me how to cut off the head, pluck the feathers, and cut out the organs.

I didn't exactly look when he cut off the head and at one point ran out of the barn to throw up behind the building when Winston was cutting out the intestines.

When it was lunch time I cleaned my hands really good and got in line for food. Newt appeared behind me in line too, surprising me a bit.

"So, how's your first day?" He asked, looking me right in the eye.

"Well, I met Bark in the most terrifying way, and got a bit too attached to the animals, not to mention I puked when Winston was cutting up a chicken. So based on all that's happend, I'm 100% sure I'm not going to be a Slicer." I admitted.

"Yeah, Winston already told me. But don't worry, you still have tons of jobs to try. And honestly, being a Slicer is the first job everybody tries." He said.

"Why?" I wanted to know.

"Because it's one of the most important jobs, plus many of us enjoy hearing how the Greenie reacted to it all and them being creeped out by all the dead animals." He explained, "I don't particularly like the thought of killing animals all day, everyday. More into growing things in the gardens."

Once we got our food I noticed it was mixed vegetables and chicken.

"Good job with the chickens today Eliza, they were awesome to cook." Frypan winked.

It was only lunch and I was already dreading the rest of the day.
