"What do you mean I have to go home-?!" Frisk had not been looking to argue on this fine day, especially considering said argument was with his one and only mother, Toriel.
Sadly, Toriel wasn't having it, as she firmly responded with, "Please do not argue. This is for your benefit. Besides, Via has returned, and I am sure you and Flowey would love to get reacquainted with her, would you not?"
That of course caught Frisk's attention, the boy perking up just a tad as he looked towards his adoptive mother once again. However, he wasn't the one to speak first, but rather Flowey was. "She did?!"
"Mhm," hummed the monster, relieved that she'd seemingly distracted both Frisk and his friend. "Mrs. Ryan returned her to us this afternoon. She will be staying with us along with the other five children."
As Frisk listened, the boy gave her a nod, his frown deepening at the mention of the social worker. "That's good... Did she do anything else? Were there people with her- Did someone take pictures-?"
"No, Frisk." With a sigh, the monster slowed to a stop at a light, only to give him a look of sadness and concern. "The only ones who were at the door were Bertha and Via. There was one other worker, but she was in the car-"
"Are you sure she wasn't taking any pictures-?"
"Yes." Despite Toriel's insistence on the matter, Frisk still seemed unconvinced, thus causing Toriel to let out a small sigh. "Frisk, I understand your experiences with social workers in the past was very poor, but these are not the same workers. They want the best for them, just like I do-"
"No they don't!" The boy was quick to respond, and he wasn't at all happy with his mother trying to defend them. "They don't want the best for any of them! They don't care about them! They-"
"Frisk Dreemurr!" The tone of the goat monster quickly caught Frisk off guard, causing the child to flinch as he stopped speaking. The boy was upset, yes, but he never saw Toriel act like this; only when she was truly upset with him would she ever... yell... "Child Protective Services is merely doing their job, and while they do seem to be prejudiced, there is nothing I can do about that other than treat them with kindness and let that speak for itself. When I drop you off at home, I don't want you bringing this up to any of the kids or Mr Birnsen, including Via. Do you understand?"
A moment of silence followed as Frisk took time to process his mother's words, only to eventually acknowledge her with a small sigh. "Yes, Mom..."
With a nod of her head to signify that she had heard the boy, Toriel then proceeded to continue driving, leaving Frisk to slouch a bit in his seat as he began to mess with his phone, all while Flowey rolled his eyes and peered over the kid's arm to see. What he was doing was unknown to the goat woman, but she merely assumed that he had been playing games with it, all the way up until she had dropped him off right outside the house. However, while she had expected the boy to head inside even after she was gone, Frisk didn't, and instead, he quickly proceeded to speed-walk away from the house the second Toriel was out of sight, all while carrying his potted friend and apparent sibling along.
"Yeesh. Learn to pick better battles," Flowey said with a huff, only to look behind them to ensure that Toriel was indeed gone. "Still can't believe you're making me do this. Couldn't you have at least dropped me off at the house?!"
As Flowey complained, Frisk had continued to fidget with his phone, now awkwardly dialing a quick number as he continued to hold the flower pot with his other arm. "I would, but then Mr Birnsen would ask why you're there and not me, and that'd tip him off that I'd gone and done something."
