No system error message flashed before her grey irises.

But perhaps it should have.

The high ringing sound that had plagued her ears before was now silent, the only thing that could be heard was the sound of the wind rustling the white sands. She watched silently as the red blood of the Iktotchi girl stained the once pristine whiteness of the ground, her sightless blue eyes looking up towards the harsh sun overhead.

For a moment, everything was quiet. No one dared to speak a word after the horror they had just witnessed. For some reason, the android still couldn't tear her gaze away from the dead girl. Perhaps it was because she'd never seen a kill this up close before, or maybe because she had never paid any mind to the people she killed.

Ell had killed children before. The First Order was merciless in what they wanted, and whatever Snoke wanted, she would give. Rarely would she make close-range kills though; she was always holed up on some rooftop looking at her target from a mile away through the crosshairs of her sniper. Never was she this close to see the carnage she had helped in creating.

It left her circuits feeling...off. Something she could only describe as when a person became sick. But she couldn't get sick, she was just a droid. And yet...

Something came over her in that instant. Something she had never felt before and didn't know quite how to describe, only that it sparked something embedded deep within the mainframe of her mind. It was small and fleeting, but for a second, it was there.

And once the idea had flitted across her mind, she couldn't let go of it.

She wouldn't.

Ell turned to Wexley and commanded in a short voice, "Surrender, captain."

The man tore his gaze from the dead girl to her, and if possible, his eyes widened even further in disbelief.

"Are you kidding me? They just shot a child. The hell am I gonna-"

"Just trust me, Captain," She interrupted him, her cold, gray orbs boring into his own deep brown ones, "Please."

Jessika turned towards the two of them, studying Ell's face. Her features showed almost no emotion, and yet, the young pilot couldn't deny that there was something behind the android's gaze that had never been there before.

Wexley glanced at Jess, a silent question hanging in the air. He didn't trust Ell's judgment, at least not yet. But he trusted Jessika's.

The woman kept her eyes trained on the android, and the corner of her lips twitched upwards.
