My dad comes crashing into my room, red faced and ready to fire. He doesn't even acknowledge the fact that Cam is in the room or that she's back home at all. He just locks eyes with me and takes a few dangerous steps in my direction.

"Who the hell do you think you are, skipping school?" My dad spits at me.

"Ha, just as I remember," Cam starts "Who the hell do you think you are?" she tries to say in her most macho voice to mimic our dad. "Classic!" Our dad doesn't even bother looking her way. Not even for her sarcastic comment. Cam looks between the both of us and I can tell she knows what's about to happen.

"Yeah...I should go," she says before striding towards the door. "Laters." Cam closes the door shut and I look at my dad and try to match his angry expression. Even though it's not that hard. This man makes me show the monster that I truly am without having to try.

"You think you can just ditch like?" He starts back up his face getting redder and his fist getting tighter. I shrug my shoulder in playful challenge

"I don't know, I seemed to do it pretty easily," I say back. My dads eyes turned to the size as slits before asking, "You did this because of the game, didn't you?" My eyes go dark as I grin an evil smirk.

"Maybe," I challenge.

"I am this close to sending you off," my dad says as he holds up his hand to show me through his pointer and thumb just how close that is. I shrug my shoulders again at him.

"Why not just go ahead and do it? You had no problem letting Cam go, why not just send me off too. One less little shit to take care of—." But before the rest of what I wanted to say could leave my mouth, my back is up against my bookshelf and my dads fist gripped around my dark grey hoodie. A couple books fall off next to me and onto the floor. I feel my anger rising with every second that this man is in my presence. And him slamming me against my book shelf just set me off.

I place my hands against my dads chest and forcefully push him away from me almost causing him to fall on his ass from the impact. My dad steadies himself on the post at the end of my bed and clenches the knob until his knuckles go white. My dad looks up at me, and I can recognize the look. He comes rushing towards me and his fist comes in contact with my left eye before I have time to react. I fall to the ground on top of the books that fell from the bookshelf earlier. My eye stings and my breath is loosing its control. My rage has fully maxed itself out by now.

I put my hands underneath my body, ready to push myself back up and beat the shit out of that man. But I look over at the book that's fallen from the shelf and is now laying next to me. Wuthering Heights, lays next to me in all its glory, page flipped open to a piece that I highlighted. How cruel, your veins are full of ice water and mine are boiling, reads the highlighted section. My veins were more then ice water by now. They're a frozen lake with layers upon layers of ice. But did I want to let that define me?

I push myself off the ground but I don't throw the long-awaited punch that I'm sure he expected to receive. Instead, I look at him for a moment with dread, before walking out and leaving the apartment with a single fuck you.

"Dace!" I call out for him once the doors to the ice rink shut behind me with a tiny cling. The entire ice rink is completely empty and the lights are out which kind of concerns me a little. It also remind me of my childhood fear of the dark.

"Dace!" I call out again once I've stepped more into the rink. I hear the sound of a door opening and see Dace walk out of the locker room with two pairs of skates in either hand.
