"You fucking pussy!" My dad spits in my face as he roughly shakes my shoulders. "You call that shooting a shot, huh?" He continues to yell with more force. But I don't look at him. Instead, I look at the alcohol stain on his white t-shirt. "Answer me, you little shit!" My dad bangs the side of my curly haired, ten year old-self, causing me to wince in pain at the harsh impact.

"No, sir," I timidly answer his question, my response coming out barely a squeak.

"Speak up!"

"I said no sir!" This time though, I finally manage to look up at him through my glossy big, blue eyes. My dad straightens up a bit, taking a swing from his flask quickly after.

"Go to your room, no dinner tonight," my dad tells me, which causes my expression to turn panicked. "Punishment for the shitty game you played tonight. Or at least attempted to play, that is."

"But dad—"

"Did I fucking stutter? I said go to your damn room--"

My chest heaves up and down as I quickly awake. Beads of sweat collecting along my forehead and as well as my brow. The coldness of my dream haunts my memory, causing my head to fucking pound. It takes me a minute to get a bare of my surroundings. But it finally comes into play of where I am.

Djs'.

"Are you okay, sweets?" I hear someone ask me, causing my head to quickly snap in their direction. Nina smiles at me from the other side of the bar, wiping the surface of it with a dish towel in the process. I look around the bar and the club, noticing that it's empty and the chairs are still on top of the tables, indicating that it has yet to open.

"What time is it?" I groan in question as I look back at Nina.

"12:00pm," she quickly responds before taking out a clean glass and filling it up with water for me. "You've been here all night, sweets. Fell asleep right here halfway through your sixth round of shots." My memory feels sightly foggy but soon enough, everything starts to come back to me.

Drinking.

Misery.

Anger.

Annie.

"Shit!" I quickly curse as I cover my face with my large hands. "Shit, shit, shit!"

"Yeah, you were pretty out of it," I hear another familiar voice say as they come up to stand next to me, causing me to swiftly strip my hands away from my face. "Everything all right, sugar bear?" I hop up off of the bar stool before grabbing my black leather jacket off of the chair next to me.

"Peachy," I respond to Tati as I put on my jacket.

"Does is have to do with that little girlfriend of yours? I'm sure if you just talk to her--"

"I said I'm fine!" I snap, causing Tati to instantly shut her out but also put her hand on her popped out hip and give me 'the mom look'.

"Don't you dare take that tone with me, young man," Tati disapproves. I roll my eyes, grabbing the glass of water and downing it in one go before slamming it back down on the counter hard enough to express my annoyance.

"I'm leaving," I say as I turn to make my way towards the exit. I don't need this shit right now. And I especially don't need some type of authority figure to try and tell me what's best for me. I know I fucked up. It's that simple. I know she'll forgive me. She always does.

"Cole," I here Tati call out from behind me. I halt at the sound of her voice, but I down turn around. "One day, she won't be there you know. One day, she'll stop trying to see past the facade that you put up." Her words cause me to tighten my fist by my sides and as well as clench my jaw. There's a part of me that wants to give Tati the bird and never look back, but there's also a part of me that knows there's truth behind her frightening words. But I just won't allow myself to accept them. I never will.
