Cole

We arrive back at the apparent complex in no time. I feel a little on edge after my little out burst of a jam session to Bon Jovi. I've never acted like that around anyone before. Well except for my sister. I just never imagined that the other person would be the one and only Annie.

I park outside of the entrance and open my car door before stepping out. I hear freya open her door form the other side and step out as well. It's close to night time by now. Which means the street lamps are starting to turn on and the roads are starting to die down a little bit. But in New York they never fully die down. I look over at freya from the other side of my car and stare at her for a moment. She pulls a few lose, fawn strands of her now crazy and damp hair behind her small ears. I hear her sigh a little, but then hear her breath get caught in her throat as she looks up.

"What?" I ask towards her sudden gasp. She looks over at me a bit, startled, but then answers. looking back up, she points her tiny finger upwards.

"It's nothing It's just...the sky looks really pretty right now." I  follow her gaze and look up at he sky as well. She's right, the sky does look pretty magnificent. The sun is just now setting and an abundance of red and pink colors are starting to peak through just behind the sun. I feel myself grin a little before looking over at freya who is also smiling, causing her tiny dimples to be revealed. And that's when I realize...

"Shit," I mumble and Freya's head snaps in my direction.

"What?" she ask me and I freeze up.

"Nothing," I shake my head away from it's redundant thoughts and start to walk towards the apartment. I hear freya follow behind me and shuffle her small feet a little bit to catch up. We reach the elevator and I press the button impatiently. Why do elevators have to take so damn long to move? I turn my head slightly and look at freya. I see her looking down at her feet and she taps her heels together over and over again. She then looks up and looks over at me. I quickly avert my gaze and focus back on the shut elevator doors that are taking too long to open. Shit, she probably caught me. Finally the silver doors slide open and I quickly rush into the elevator, pressing the 5th floor button. Freya follows behind and stops directly beside me once she's fully inside the elevator. A few silent seconds tick by before the elevator doors close again and starts to descend upwards. Annoying elevator music plays out of the speakers, ringing into my ears causing them to want to bleed. There's nothing I hate more then repetitive cheesy tunes. The evaluator dings as it stops and the doors slide open once more. I step out, freeing myself from the music and the tiny metal box. I start to walk down the hallway towards my apartment but get stopped by a small voice.

"Cole, wait," I hear Freya call out from behind me. I stop in my tracks instantly and turn around to look at her. She stops her movement as well once she's standing directly in front of me. My eyes scan her face as silence lingers. Is she going to say something? She bites down on her bottom lip and stares down at the floor.

"What?" I ask to her, a little bit more harshly then intended. She shrugs her shoulders a little and looks up at me before her bottom lip slides out from in between her teeth.

"I...it's just...thank you." My eyebrows creese as I continue to scan her flushed face.

"What?" I respond. She huffs and crosses her arms her over her chest.

"Thank you for you know...trying to help me...I guess." We stare at each other for a moment as I try to figure out the situation. And I'm sure she's doing the same. She's thanking me? She's thanking me for trying? I helped? I clear my throat and she does the same. I turn back and continue to stride back down along the hallway. We both turn the corner to reach the section of the complex where our apartments are and my feet come to a screeching halt. I feel freya bump into my back and I hear a tiny huff escape from her mouth from the impact.
