Not many people know this but many students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are musicians. One of these people is someone who keeps it tightly concealed, no one knows not even his best friends, he plays when he is sad, when he is angry, pretty much whenever he is emotional. It is his own personal secret when he needs to he either goes to the roof, the room of requirement or he waits till everyone is asleep and he quietly plays in the common room 2 of those places are not on the marauders map so his mates can't find him.

Can you guess who this boy is? well I am hoping you have by now but if you haven't it is the infamous James Potter.

That is what James was doing at this very moment he was in the RoR singing and playing his guitar to a song that he wrote. (all credit goes to Ed Sheeran, I do not own this song/ defo did not write it.)

The reason James was singing this song was because he had just seen Lily Evans talking to Severus Snape. He knew that he and Lily were only friends and she hated Snape but he couldn't help but hate that they were talking, he had seen Lily almost smile and it hurts, he can't help but love her. James let a single tear slide down his cheek before he regained control of his emotions and putting his armour back on and laughed it off, before putting away his guitar, and sighing, "Never gonna happen." He said to himself as he shrunk his guitar case and put it in his satchel and leaving the RoR just to run into the one and only Lily Evans. "Oh hey James" she said in a surprised and overly happy voice.
"hey, umm you ok?" he asked
"never better, Why?"
"because I can see tears brimming your eyes and I saw you talking to Snape earlier so you sure you're ok?" James asked again.
"you're to observant for you own good,"
"and you are dodging the question Evans"
"I don't want to talk about it" Lily said as she tried to walk around him,
"nope, wrong answer."
"James"
"Lily"
"Potter"
"Evans"
"James Potter"
"Lily Evans"
"James, please. I really don't want to talk about it."
"you know Evans," James called as she walked past him "the more you say you don't want to talk about it, the more you actually need to." Lily turned to look at him and shuck her head before walking of towards the great hall for dinner, Sighing James followed.

The great hall was alive with sound as Lily entered, she looked over at the Slytherin table and caught Snape's eye and for a second he had a pleading look but Lily looked away before she could fall for that act again and sat down next to Remus and opposite Marlene who was next to Sirius as always. Dumbledore stood up and the hall fell silent just before the doors opened and James made his way in ,ignoring the fact that the whole hall was watching him, and sat down on the other side of Remus and opposite Peter. with a small smile on his face Dumbledore started his speech, "Now that we are all here-"
"James-" Sirius interrupted
"Not now."
"I have an announcement as you all know this week you all had the choice to either stay here at school or go home to visit your familys, it is a pain to have to tell you this but for those who were planning on going home i am sorry but that is now not possible." The hall has never been so loud with protests, people demanding to know why and what is going on even those who were not going home were yelling in protest. "HEY" James yelled but he wasn't loud enough to get peoples attention "sonorous" he mutterd then stood on the bench and yelled "HEY" which got everyones attention then in his normal voice said "if you shut up and let him explain you might find the answer to some of your questions," he jumped down as Dumbledore continued.
"Thankyou Mr. Potter, now as I was saying you will not be able to go home because we have had intel that there is a planed attack on the Hogwarts Express that day and even if it is false we do not want to put any of you in harms way so everyone will be staying here. I am sorry for those who wanted to see family but you will just have to wait until the holidays. Let us eat."
As the food appeared the hall burst into sound again, "so, where were you then Jamesy poo?" sirius asked
"What?" James asked while Remus chuckled at the nickname
"Where were you? ... At the start dinner? ... Oh my god you are thick why were you late? why were you the last one here?"
"I know what you're asking mate calm down."
"answer then..."
"I was doing a last sweep of the halls to make sure there were no stray firsties, happy?"
"Oh yes I am now filled with content." Sirius replied sarcastically as everyone tucked into their food. Remus leaned over to James and whispered to him "That wasn't true was it?"
"Not in the siltiest."
"So where were you really? and does it have anything to do with why Lily was latter than normal as well?"
"We were talking about Head duties mate."
"Right I believe you thousands woldn't."

That night whilst everyone was asleep James grabbed his guitar and headed down past a sleeping Sirius sprawled out over his entire bed into the common room that only had the burning embers of the fire as a light source but it was enough for James, he sat in his favourite arm chair with his guitar resting on his knee and he just started quietly strumming and humming to himself.
