Marauders one shots

The Prank

Detention was something the marauders were used to now seeing as from their 1st year they got detention at least once a week. Then moving up from 2nd to 6th they got a detention almost every other day as they got better at not getting caught. But now they are in their 7th year and detentions are still common but not at the same time.

Remus was a Prefect which helped with the pranks the boys were pulling so it didn't have the desired effect that McGonagall had hopped for. Then James was made Head Boy and it did have the original desired effect, meaning that James was too busy with Lily, head girl, to have time to prank.

Until today that was, there hadn't been an Marauders prank in at least two weeks and Hogwarts was getting quite, everyone knew that there was a prank coming soon, but when was a mystery.

Three of the Marauders were in their dorm throwing prank ideas back and forth and each was more ridiculous than the last, they knew they wanted to prank the whole school but how was the problem they were facing.
When James entered he collapsed onto the closest bed which just happened to be Remus'. "Tired Prongs?" Sirius asked from where he was sitting on his own bed with Peter. James didn't answer with words he just gave Sirius a rude gesture. "Oh come on Prongsie, we need your help with this, seeing as Moony is saying no to all of my prank ideas and Wormtail's are all shit."
"Hey!"
"Prongs?" Remus asked "any ideas?"
"We haven't levitated anything for a while." James replied sitting up and looking at the prank wall they had which had plans from previous pranks stuck to it. "See, last time we levitated anything was last year when we levitated the desks in Minnie's classroom."
"Well how do we up that?" Sirius asked
"By levitating every single desk in the castle." Remus answered
"How on earth are you known as the good one?" Peter asked standing to add a piece of paper with their plan on the wall. "Well it's good and all, but we can do better,"
"What do you suggest Wormy?"
"I don't know, we could make it so when people sit on the benches in the great hall something happens,"
"Which delays them," Sirius added
"Like when they sit they can't stand up again for," James started
"2 hours." Remus finished
"Is there a spell for that?"
"Bound to be and it shouldn't be that hard to find." Remus said causing all three boys to smirk and start looking through their books.

They had been looking for a good few hours when Lily entered their dorm to tell them it was dinner meaning that they had to leave their planning.
James took Lily's hand as the five of them walked down "You will tell me when your prank is taking place won't you?" She asked "I have lived with you four for almost seven years I can see the signs of a prank brewing. You also said you would help me study and that you were just going to your dorm to get your book but you never came down."
"I'm sorry Lils." James sighed
"It's ok," Lily laughed "Mary and Alice helped me, so you will tell me when your prank takes place?"
"Come on Lily flower that ruins the whole point," Sirius said running ahead of the pair and walking backwords "Besides we don't even know ourselves yet"
"You are going to fall over," Remus warns him and as Sirius replies to Remus, Peter sneaks behind him and trips him up "You rat." Sirius curses as Remus and Peter high five and James and Lily laugh, "Yeah laugh at my misfortune."

As the 7th year Gryffindor's were eating James suddenly dropped his knife and fork making those around him jump, "Prongs?"
"We are so stupid,"
"What?"
"The spell we spent ages looking for and it is the most obvious spell in our book."
... ... ...
"Merlin, how did we not get that?" Remus asked
"Still don't know." Sirius said
"Me neither." Peter agreed
"Give it a minute, think about it."
... ... ...
"Oh,"
"Got it."
During the exchange the boys had Lily and the girls exchanged confused glances but a knowing look all the same. A prank was being planned.

The Marauders prank was set up that night, they waited until no one was left in the Gryffindor common room, then snuck out which upset the fat lady as she was woken up.
It took the boys roughly 5 hours to levitate every desk in the castle excluding the great hall which they did last after putting the modified permanent sticking charm on the benches and professors chairs. The four made their way back to the common room but just before they made it to the top of the grand staircase they heard the all to familiar sound of "Students out of bed."
"Shit!" Remus yelled
"Run!" James added but before the boys could make it back to the common room they ran into Professor McGonagall "Good evening boys. I wasn't here, I saw nothing and I couldn't have stopped you."
"Minnie, your the best." Sirius said as the four ran past her and this time made it back to the common room without being seen.
