It was common knowledge that the Gryffindor Quidditch captain was obsessed with fitness. He would wake up early to run around the grounds, he would run around the Quidditch pitch and up and down the benches in the stadium. At the start of each quidditch practice the whole team would run around the pitch with him. It was James' 6th year and the Gryffindor team had made it to the final against Slytherin for the 2nd year running and James couldn't loose, and if they did it was on him as he was captain. James joined the team in his 2nd year where he played seeker and got an award (in 1972), in his 3rd year he was made a chaser and stayed in that position. Chasers need a lot more stamina and strength James had noticed so he started working out more he spent more time on the pitch getting better he had been told by his captain before she left when James was in his 5th year to 'not worry as much, you have talent and if you keep pushing yourself like this you are going to make yourself sick.' when she had found him on the pitch in the winter pushing himself to his limit.

It was a spring Saturday morning and James got himself out of bed at 5 o'clock and as he put on his workout gear he noticed that he was not the only one awake. Remus Lupin or as the Marauders called him Moony was not in his bed, that was not that uncommon as nights leading up to the Full Moon he did not sleep that well he would either crawl into Sirius' bed or go down to the common room with a book, and seeing as their was only one figure in Sirius' bed James believed it was the latter. As James pulled on his running trainers and grabbed his Quidditch jumper he went down into the common room the find Remus sitting on the window ledge with a book open on his lap and a cigarette between his fingers hanging out of the window. "Alright Moons?" James asked as he pulled his jumper over his head messing up his unruly black hair. "Yeah just tired is all." Remus Replied as James sat opposite him and took the cigarette from his hand and took a drag, "These are going to kill you one day you do realise."
"Why are you smoking it then?"
"One drag every so often is harmless unlike you, you have like five a day."
"Fair enough." Remus said taking the cigarette back as James jumped of the ledge
"You wanna come on a run with me Moons?" James asked smirking as he already knew the answer "Do I F**k."
"Language Moony," James said with fake astonishment
"Oh Piss off you little s**t."
"Love you Moony." James replied with a smile as he made his way the portrait hole
"Love you too Prongs."
"I know."

After running the grounds James made his way down to the pitch where he met Frank Longbottom. James' fellow chaser Frank was a 7th year who was offered the Captains badge but turned it down as to focus on his NEWTS. Frank didn't run the grounds or the stands like James did but he did run the pitch. Frank made it onto the Quidditch team in his 3rd year the same year as James so the two had worked together for four years now, They had gained a new chaser this year and although the girl was amazing and the three worked well together they weren't in sync like James and Frank were. "Took your time." Frank said as James jogged up to him.
"Sorry."
"Na it's good. How may laps are we going to do today then?"
"10?"
"you're making it to easy there Potter."
"Alright," James said with a smirk "25."
"You're on."
"3, 2, 1" James counted
"GO!" Frank yelled. And they were off, the competitive side coming out in both of them after running the first 20 laps together Frank sped up to try and put distance between him and James but James caught on and pushed harder and the two began racing. They were on their last lap when Frank pulled ahead of James and won. James blamed him loosing on the fact that he had already run the grounds. "Good run James. Well I have to meet Alice in half an hour so I will see you later for quidditch practice."
"Yeah, don't be late, and make sure Alice isn't late either."
"You got it Captain,"
"Still not used to that."

James was about to head back up to the castle when he was stopped by none other than Lily Evans. "Alright Evans?"
"yeah I'm good, I was wondering if I could talk to you,"
"About what?"
"Sirius."
"What about Sirius?"
"Why he was upset the other day?"
"Sorry Evans, I don't know,"
"Don't bull s**t me Potter, I know you know why."
"Language Love,"
"Potter, is Sirius ok?"
"He is fine Evans, now if you will excuse me I have detention in half an hour and I need a shower. See you later Love." James said blowing her a kiss and walking away.

When James arrived back at the common room he found that Remus had not moved and he was still sitting on the window ledge but has been joined by Sirius now, "Alright boys?"
"Hey Prongsie."
"You need a shower." the two responses made James laugh
"Thanks Moony, Remember detention in about 25 minutes now,"
"Ha Ha you two have detention," Sirius laughed
"Yeah because you and Peter ran off in your Animagus forms and let us get caught." Remus reminded him. "oh yeah,"
"You're an idiot."
"Maybe, but I am your idiot,"
"That you are." James turned around and started towards the dorms before he could see Remus and Sirius kiss, he loved the fact that they loved each other but that didn't mean he enjoyed seeing it. As he entered the dorm he found Peter reading his charms book trying to finish his essay. "How you doing Wormtail? Almost done?"
"Halfway through, I was hoping Remus could help but he is with Sirius and then you have detention so-"
" You can use my essay if you want,"
"I think I am good, thanks anyway Prongs,"
"If you ae still going when me and Moony come back I will help you out but right now I need a shower."
"Yeah you stink."
"How you wound me Wormtail."

"Come on then Moony lets et this over with,"
"See ya in a bit Siri,"
"Have fun."
"James your tie."
"I don't know why you even bother pointing it out you know I can't tie it."
"Come here then,"
"You are the best."
"I know."

James nocked on Professor McGonagall's door before the two entered. It was a simple detention wright lines on why they were out past curfew, the boys had already planned what they were going to put because if they told the truth 'we were filling all of Slughorns cauldrons with dung bombs and switching his shampoo for die' they would get more detention. So instead they wrote 'we were in the library and lost track of time we were sitting in the halls when we realised what time it was so decided to head back' they hoped that McGonagall would believe that. "James." Remus hissed trying to get his attention
"What?" James asked as Remus showed him the time on his watch "S**t, Professor sorry to cut this short but I have Quidditch Practice in two minutes."
"You may go, you two Mr. Lupin."
"Cheers Minnie." James called back as he left the room in a run leaving Remus to give his parchment to McGonagall. "That boy," She said rolling her eyes
"You know you love us Professor." Remus said with a smirk showing off his dimples.
"That I do Mr. Lupin" She replied with a sigh "Now get out of my class room."
"With pleasure."

"You go on at us for being late then you are late yourself," Alice said as James ran onto the pitch in his quidditch gear with his broom "Yeah yeah I know I had detention I am sorry. Right then you lot ten laps of the pitch. Lets go." Everyone started running apart from James and Alice as she had grabbed his arm to stop him "You look terrible James,"
"Thanks,"
"Have you eaten anything today?"
"...No"
"James you are going to make yourself sick. James it is not funny."
"I am not laughing at that, that is exactly what I was told last year and the year before."
"Then start listening." Alice said before running to catch up with the rest of the team.
