In which Park Jimin is on the swim team and Jeon Jeongguk is on the water polo team. The two boys have never met, until Jeongguk launches a polo ball straight into Jimin's face.
Jeongguk swam. Swam as fast as he could, the clock ticking behind him. He had ten seconds to get this ball into the net and they'd win. It had been like this all game, they'd score, then the other team would fight back.
Jeongguk could hear the cheers from the bleachers, Jimin's small voice being one of them, along with Taehyung's aggressive screaming.
With the ball between his arms, his teammates behind him and the opposing surrounding him, he grabbed the ball, and threw it towards the net. Jeongguk's body had submerged underwater due to the pain in his legs from treading too long.
When he came above water he heard the buzzing, meaning it was the end of the game. And when he turned to the scoreboard his eyes widened and a smile grew,
They won.
The crowd stood and cheered while Jeongguk's team surrounded him and enveloped him in a group hug. His coach looking at them from afar with large smile on his face.
"Jeongguk!" He heard from the bleachers. His head snapping towards the small voice, smiling. It was Jimin, standing with a smile just as big, the tears from earlier seemed to have vanished.
Jeongguk shimmied his way out of the group hug only to climb out of the pool and envelope Jimin into one. "I'm so happy you're here." He whispered in his ear.
"I am too, I'm so proud of you." Jimin whispered back, his arms wrapping tighter around him. Jimin didn't care if he was soaking wet, as long as he was in his arms.
Taehyung's words got to him, thankfully. He now knew he deserved Jeongguk, he knew he deserved this happiness, he knew he trusted him. He knew all of this a long time ago, but it was convincing himself that got in the way. But now,
Jimin was happy.
"Uh I hate to break up this sweet moment but you have a phone call Jimin, and it doesn't sound so good." Jimin moved away from the hug, Jeongguk's arm still around his waist as he took the phone from Taehyung.
"Hello?" He spoke, his voice slightly quivering. 'Is this Park Jimin? This is the hospital speaking. Your grandmother seemed to have collapsed in the garden, luckily your neighbor had seen it and called for help. I suggest you make your way over, it isn't looking so well.' Jimin's heart sank into the pit of his stomach, he lost all hearing and feeling in his body.
Jimin drops his phone, his legs buckling underneath him. "Jimin what's happening?" Jeongguk asked as he lowered himself down to his level.
"I need you to take me to the hospital, it's my grandmother." He said towards Taehyung, who sprung into action, grabbing his phone and Jimin's hand.
"Stay here and do whatever you need to do, I'll let you know when it's alright to join us." Taehyung said towards Jeongguk who felt the emptiness of Jimin's touch as Taehyung dragged him away.
He watched the two walk out in a rush, well he watched Taehyung walk fast while Jimin attempted to keep up. Still in shock.
"Come over and talk with the rest of your team, you can go talk with your little boyfriend later." His coach said with his hand on his shoulder. Jeongguk nodded, knowing Taehyung will update him later.

"Your grandmother had a heart attack. To which I'm in utter shock about due to how well her health is. It was so severe that it caused damage we are unable to treat it. We're giving her a few days to live. I apologize." Jimin didn't think his heart could sink any lower. His grandmother was all he had, just a days ago they were doing yoga in their living room and having the time of their lives, now she's sitting on her death bed.
"I understand," Is all he said, before walking into her room and sitting by her bed, where she lay cold and fragile. "Hi grammy," Is what he said to catch her attention.
She turned her head, slowly but surely, and gave him one of her sweet signature smiles. "Oh honey, it's ok," She reached forward, putting her hand on his cheek as the tears began to form for the second time that day. "It'll be for the best. I know it's going to be hard-"
"Going to be hard? This is torture. You're the only thing I have and ever will have, you've been there for me through thick and thin and I couldn't even be there to help you or call someone. You can't leave me just yet, grammy." He sobbed, and his grandma only rubbed his cheek, trying to keep him calm.
This was how she calmed him down as a child, when he was sad, lonely or even hurt. When that boy hurt Jimin oh man was she angry. But Jimin held her back, and they sat on the couch watching cartoons as she rubbed his cheek to make him feel better.
It did, and it always will.
"Jimin my time was going to come one of these days, I just hoped it would be after you graduate and you go off with your family," She said, her eyes becoming tired and cloudy. "But I want you to keep the people you have in your life right now, in your life forever. Especially that Jeongguk boy, ok? There's something special about him."
Jimin nodded, not trusting the tone in his voice to speak for him. Suddenly, the heart monitor sped up has her heart rate when down and her eyes become heavy and her body going limper by the second.
"I love you, Jimin. Always have, and always will." And just like that,
Jimin had just lost the only person he trusted, and loved more than anyone else.
