The sound of loud knocking woke me up. I slowly opened my eyes and was greeted by sun shining brightly in my face. I rolled out of bed and approached my door. I tried to open it slowly but the door was swung open and nearly knocked me to my feet. Luckily, someone caught me before I fell flat on my butt.
"Geez, Casey are you okay?" I nodded not wanting to talk due to the fact that I just woke up and I still had morning breath. I gathered my thoughts and looked up to see Danny holding me.
"What did you do hit her with the door?" Meg snaps as she walks in. Danny let me go slowly as I steadied myself. "Casey Thompson what are you doing still in your pajamaʻs. It is our last day of school, hurry up and get ready!"
I rolled my eyes at her and walked into my bathroom to get ready. I gave myself a good look. I seemed tired and drained, maybe it was because Chad and Cody were gone already. I threw a fake smile on and got ready for my last day of school.
"Well donʻt you look just lovely for your last day at school." My dad hugged me as I came down the stairs. I was wearing a plain grey long sleeve shirt and a pair of skinny jeans. "Thank you daddy." I hugged him back and headed for the door. Outside Meg, Alex, and Danny were all standing around Danny's truck. Carson, being a senior, finished school last week and his graduation was this weekend.
"Alright everyone pile in!" Danny yelled from the driver seat. I laughed as we all crammed into the old pick up truck. The twins came out after followed by Carson who ran to the truck. Meg squealed and jumped out as Carson approached. "Have a good last day at school." He kissed her and put her back in the truck. Carson and Meg were going through some stuff right now trying to figure out what they were going to do with Carson going to college.
When we reached the school everyone was outside holding their yearbooks, chatting with each other about summer plans, and some were hugging each other like they were never going to see them again. "Did you guys get your yearbooks already?" I asked everyone and they all nodded, well everyone except Danny. "I haven't gotten my yearbook yet, I'll go with you to get it." I smiled and climbed out of the cab of the truck.
We walked together through the crowded and messy halls of Baleridge high. Today was only a half day of school mainly so everyone could say their good byes but to me it was a waste of time truthfully. School could have ended yesterday giving me an extra day of summer and rest. When we got to the cafeteria I was surprised to see only one stack of yearbooks left.
"I guess were the last ones to get our yearbooks." I joked at Danny who laughed and looked down at me and led me to the table. The freshman girl behind the stack of books took our names and looked through her pile and handed us each the thick hard cover book and smiled congratulating us on finishing our school year strong.
"Casey, will you be the first one to sign my yearbook?" Danny asked with a playful smirk making me blush, for some strange reason.
"Only if you sign my yearbook first also." He agreed and we walked together to the quad where we sat on the same bench and wrote something small to each other. I was never good with writing something heart felt notes to someone so I kept it simple just telling him I was happy to meet him this year and to have a good summer and hopefully we that we definitely need to hang out together.
"Don't read my note until you get home." He instructed me as he handed back my book. Being my curious self I really wanted to read what he wrote now but refrained since he seemed so serious. Exchanging our books we walked back out to the hall where we found Meg and Alex talking and laughing about their summer plans.
School was about to end and I was at the edge of my seat waiting for that bell to ring. I counted down from ten in my head. 10 9 8, my thoughts were rudely interrupted by the sound of the PA system beeping.
