Fear was the only thing I could feel when I saw him. It grew and grew with every inch he was closer to me.

Zach was the same distance from me that Peter was, he pushed further from me Peter with his hand. He stepped in front of Peter, covering Peter completely. "Hey, sweetheart." Zack leaned down a little, "Miss me?"

I opened my mouth but a lump rose in my already dry throat. I couldn't speak. I froze.

"What? Still scared?" He said even closer to my face.

Vinnie grabbed my hand and pulled me away from the situation.

"Friends still need to fight your battles." He said loud enough for the hallway to overhear.

Tears pricked at my eyes as I continued following Vinnie to my home.

(Time Skip to Stark Tower)

After eating something with Vinnie and arriving safely home, I wanted to think. I needed to think. On my own. Just for a little while.

I waited for the elevator to ding, signaling to me that I was in the top floor of the tower. The doors opened and I walked out toward the one flight of stairs that separated me and the open roof.

I practically ran up those stairs and to my safe spot. The place I came to think. I sat on the edge and closed my eyes to just breathe. I reopened them and looked at New York. Nothing in my head, just me and the view.

"Rough day?" said an all-too-familiar voice from behind me.

And I guess Spider-Man.

I turned and laughed dryly, "You could say that."

"Do you wanna talk about it?" He asked sitting next to me.

"Shouldn't you be elsewhere, I don't know, keep New York safe?" I gestured to the city.

"I'm done patrolling for the day, and if anything comes up Karen will let me know." He explained.

"Karen?" I asked.

"The AI in my suit." He clarified.

I giggled, "You call her Karen? Like Plankton's robot wife in Spongebob." I started laughing harder.

"Yes," he said shyly.

"Don't worry, it's cute you named her a human name. Instead of," I tapped my chin, "FRIDAY."

He chuckled in response, "Roasted."

That laugh. I know that laugh.

"So," He changed the subject, "What happened?"

His eyes were on me as I explained what happened with Zach and who Zach was.

"You know," He paused, choosing his words wisely, "You're a lot stronger now than you were then."

"How would you know, Mr. Man?" I asked, smiling

"You are your worst critic. You have no idea how much power you hold in your hands."

I blushed, "Shut up."

Glancing at my watch my eyes widened, 7:30 pm! "I-I-I- I have to go!" I said, turning around and stand up.

Spider-Man jumped, "Why? WHat's wrong?"

"I'm late!"

"For?"

"I have a thing."

"Date?"

"No, no. I'm hanging out with Peter."

"Oh. Oh!" He paused, "I have to go too!"

"Okay, bye then." I absentmindedly grabbed his shoulder and pulled him into a hug. Which, as always, he was stiff but quickly wrapped his arms around my waist.

"Bye." I said quietly as I ran off.

(Time Skip)

I knocked on the door, May answered, "Hey babe!" She gave me a hug, "Peter should be in his room."

I knocked on it.

"Just a second!" Peter yelled, "Coming!" He opened the door and stepped aside, inviting me in.

"I'm so sorry I'm late." I said sitting on the floor.

"It's alright." He responded taking the spot in front of me.

"Okay so today we're going to have you practice telling her how you feel." I said, "Ready?"

"Sure." Peter's cheeks turned a light shade of pink.

"Just pretend I'm Liz."

He shook his head, "That's weird though."

"And this isn't?" I joked.

"Touche." He said. He looked down his cheeks a bright shade of crimson. His chocolate eyes recaptured mine as he started, "I have liked you for a while now and I was wondering if you would like to go to Homecoming with me. That is, if you don't already have a date. and you'd want to go of course."

I nodded completely entranced with the idea that we'd go together, snapping out of it I said, "You've got it down. I think you're ready."

"You want to finish Princess Bride?" He stood up and extended his hand to me.

One of my hands went to my chest, "I thought you'd never ask." I grabbed his hand. He pulled me up and dragged me to the couch.

He turned on the movie and ran to the kitchen to make some snacks.

He returned with two water bottles and a bucket of popcorn.

(Time Skip to the end of the movie)

"Okay," He started, "I have to admit that was a pretty good movie."

"I told you." I said sitting back and crossing my legs.

"So are you okay?" Peter shifted in his seat.

I tilted my head, "Pardon?"

"About Mr. Jock-in-the-hallway?" He turned his whole body towards me, pulling his legs up and crossing them on the couch.

I mimicked him and turned to face him, "Zach?"

He nodded, "Are you okay?"

"Yes." I said and looked down at my legs.

"If you're not, say the word and I'll beat him up." He said.

I thought he was joking but when I looked up it was clear to me that he wasnt, "Peter, no offense, but he would crush you."

"I'm stronger than I look." He said, more to himself than to me.

I patted his shoulder as I stood up, "I'm sure you are, Pete. I'm sure you are."

I grabbed the popcorn bowl and took it to the sink. I started to wash it, trying to be polite because it was the least I could do.

Peter followed me, "You are stronger than you give yourself credit for."

"You know, someone else told me that today too." I said, their voices are so similar it's uncanny.

"You don't have to do that." Peter says, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"It's okay, I can help." I replied drying the bowl, "Where does it go?"

He took the bowl and put it in one of his cupboards, "Thank you."

"No worries." I said, just standing there waiting for Peter to do something.

Peter went to his room, "Wait on the couch. I have something for you."

"You do? Why?" I asked, "It's not even my birthday."

He chuckled, "Just wait on the couch."
