A Dance to Forget

Tonight's going to be the best night of my life. Through the whole week I've been dreaming for this day. My mother and I went to several boutiques trying to find the perfect dress. I saw the boutique Cynthia worked in and begged mum to let me go in and see. The boutique usually had over-priced dresses, but you could always find the perfect one at a lower cost, and I was right.

I found a white dress with a blue bow attached to the waist on the back of the dress.Mum gave me a pair of white heels and a blue necklace with white pearl earrings. I went into the fitting room and changed. When I came out, my mum saw me and cried tears of joy. I don't know why, she never cries. Cynthia went and put the dress with the accessories in a box. All of it cost 30 pounds, plus what I owed Cynthia. I knew mum didn't have the money, but she paid it out of her life savings! I can't believe she used it on me. That was meant for Nick's college funds.

I was now getting ready for the dance. I hope it looks great. Me and some students spent the whole night decorating the gym. Someone knocked on the door.

"May I come in?" Dad said.

"Yes" I was putting on my contacts(mum finally agreed) when he entered.

"You look just like your mother when I met her. I was seventeen, your mother was your age. She was graduating that day. I was going to work at a cafe, saving the money for college. The thing is, we both got in the same subway train in the same cart. We saw each other, but never found interest, not until the train broke down and wasn't going to work for over an hour. I looked at her again and saw she was crying on her seat. I wanted to do something about her graduation, but she told me it was too late. The only thing I could do was talk to her. We talked for the next hour and we found ourselves attractive. We exchanged numbers and went on dates. One night we decided to move to the next level.-"

"Where?"

"It's weird saying it out loud."

"Come on, dad. It must have been special."

"It was"-My mum came in the room.-"It happened in Central Park. We missed the bus to the subway. The next one was in an hour. We decided to walk to kill time and sat on a bench under a tree with lights on it's branches. We started making out like any normal couple. The scene started heating up till the point when your dad asked permission to lower my underwear. I looked around to see if somebody was watching. The coast was clear and I gave him permission. After we did the deed, I told your father I was a virgin. Your father said I was the best.I told he was perfect."

"Marie!" My dad blushed.

"What? She's old enough to know."

"But not that much!"

"Anyway, weeks later your father was leaving for college in Florida. Four days before I went to the doctor because  I was feeling sick.He asked if I've ever had sex before. I told him I did. Then he asked me if we used protection. Then it hit me.I told him we didn't. That same day I went to your father's job were he was working his last day. I asked him if e could sit down and talk. I told him I was pregnant with your brother. I thought your father was going to leave me, but he was so excited he began to cry. He was still going to study, but he would send money. I had your brother when I was sixteen, your father eighteen. Two years later your father asked me to marry him and I accepted. We left your brother with grandma Lucy and went to California for our honeymoon. That's were we made you. I knew about it two weeks after I went to New York and your father went back to Florida. I called him and told him the news. He was happy and I was curious when he wanted to know how many people were gonna be in the family. Two months later, he came to New York already graduated. He got a job with a great salary and bought a house for all of us. And now we're here."
