Phoenix
When the drug finally works its way out of my system I'm tied to a chair. There's not much to look at, just blank concrete walls and one way mirror. I wonder how many people stand on the other side of it, watching me, waiting for me to start crying or beg for them to let me go. I don't know where Patrick. Hopefully when they kidnapped me they left him knocked out somewhere and didn't think about bringing him as well.
I have to stay calm. Indigo and New Horizons will soon figure out I'm missing. New Horizons might not care but Indigo will tear apart the city until she finds me. until then, I just have to stay calm. I'm guessing I'm still in the city, but where exactly?
Hours move by sluggishly the drug finally wearing off completely. The aches in my muscles now hit full force and I wonder how long I've been unconscious. I starting to wonder if they've forgotten about me when finally the door opens.
A man in a red mask, black military style clothing and boots closes the door behind him. I tilt my head, "No friends with you?"
The man just crosses his arms and walks over to the chair that stands opposite the one I'm tied to.
"I know you're plan, is that why you took me?" I say through gritted teeth, silently cursing myself as my markings flare up with green. I might sound confident but my markings give away my fear.
Whoever these terroists are, they've probably got eyes on Aradonious and myself. I should have been more careful, should have been looking over my shoulder. But I thought I was safe. After all, who gets kidnapped in daylight while surounded by hundreds of people?
The man is silent as he sits, just watching me.
"I know you're planning on using the machine from my company. I know what it does." I say.
The man remains quiet. Silence fills the room and this time I refuse to say anything.
Eventually the man sighs and reaching up pulls off the red mask, "You know, as far as prisoners go, you're the best we've had. Most the time I have to torture a prisoner for information, but you like hearing the sound of your own voice, don't you? Typical Marked person."
I flinch at the sound of the voice. I know that voice, and now it grates against my nerves. The man pulls his mask off revelaing his face. Winter smiles, "So, anything else you want to tell me before I start the interrogation properly? The more you say now, the less it will hurt later."
"You, you're the red mask."
Winter drums his fingers on his mask, "Perceptive as always I see."
"But you're in New Horizons," I say, trying to work it out.
"Yes, well not all of us within New Horizons have the same goals in mind. Think of us as a fracture group, secret to both the government as well as New Horizons themselves."
I knew something was off in New Horizons, but I didn't think the leaders had anything to do with it. Still, Winter is as cold as his codename. Now he smiles at me, that ice seeping into his expression. I don't know if he enoys seeing people in pain or just Marked people.
"So why kidnap me. I'm working with new Horizons. I didn't know you were traitors to your own organisation, why reveal yourselves to me?"
Winter rolls his eyes, "Typical, you think this is about you. You're just leverage."
"For what?" Threads of yellow spread through my markings, "This is about Indigo, isn't it. What do want from her?" I say trying to hold back my anger.
