Hi!! Long time no see but here is another chapter. Because it's so long and I'm not sure if anyone else members what happened I'll give you a quick recap. Last chapter Indigo went to work for Aradonious as a way to gather intel. Aradonious though only wanted to hire her so he could have her spy on Phoenix.
Oh also thank you to everyone who comments (I won't lie they're half the reason I get motivated to keep writing when I hit a particularly bad writers block... like the most recent one)
Indigo
My job working for Aradonious is... strange to say the least. After sitting down with Aradonious, he had given me intel that he's happy to have leaked to Phoenix. Most of it could be gathered in a hundred different ways but Aradonious thinks it will be enough for me to get on the right side of Phoenix. After all, according to him, Phoenix has always had a weakness for pretty things.
My stomach had rolled at his words and I'd quickly tried to end the meeting after that, anything to make sure I didn't lose it and leap across the coffee table and scratch the smirk off his mouth. The only good thing about having Aradonious think I'm his double agent is that I no longer have to be sneaky about seeing Phoenix.
Which is why three days after Aradonious had given me my new "job" and I'd called Phoenix to let him know of the new developments, I find myself back in Phoenix's apartment. We should be talking, we should be planning or at least working on trying to narrow down the options we have. Instead I find myself kissing him. Phoenix had at first pulled back, surprised but one look at my red markings and his own were mirroring mine.
I groan as he pulls me against him, hands on my waist while our tails entwine around each other. I've finally grown use to my tail now, the feathers no more than another part of me. Half laughing I say against his lips "Funny how Aradonious wanted me to do this so I could get information out of you about myself."
Phoenix pulls back, face straight as he sighs "And now the mood's been wrecked." He makes a face of disgust, lips curling up to show his teeth.
I grin and kiss him again, softly this time "Come on, we've got work to do anyway."
"Fine," He grumbles but his markings remain red.
I pull him to the living room sitting down on the couch while saying "Besides won't Patrick be back soon? I'd doubt he'd be fussed on walking in on us."
Phoenix gives a guilty smile "No worse than the time he walked in when I was sixteen and had discovered girls were obsessed with the son of a wealthy family."
Now it's my turn to make a face. Sometimes I forget how different our old lives had been before we'd met. "Please, I don't need to know about your past flings."
It's silent for a moment as Phoenix works out how to apologise before I grin "Though it's nice to know I can always ask Patrick for a heap of embarrassing stories about you."
Phoenix gapes "So you're going to blackmailing me with stupid mistakes I made as a teenager?"
I hold up my hands shrugging as if I can't help it "Look, Aradonious asked me to find out about you. I'm just doing my job."
Phoenix growls and moves. I laugh as he picks me up, pulling me onto his lap. His tail comes up and brushes against my side and I jerk as warmth spreads along my skin. His mouth is on my neck, hands in my hair and we're both about to forget about why I initially came around when his communicator goes off. He jumps, hand scrabbling to pull it out of his pocket while I take the moment to slide off his lap again. Something in me growls at the interruption but I remind myself we're meant to working on a plan now, not trying to see how red we can make our markings.
