Indigo
Demon drives until the sun is well and truly gone, by now we know that the call would be out and we stay away from any towns that may spot us. The roads we drive along are old and worn and we barely pass any traffic, though every time we do I cringe at the idea of them taking note of a fancy sports car in the middle of nowhere. The car might be fast but it's also memorable.
Eventually Demon turns to me and says "We should ditch the car, it attracts too much attention."
I give a nod "not to mention it could have a tracking device. We need to put as much space between us and this car."
Phoenix stays silent as we continue to drive before finding a decent location. Demon parks and we climb out. Phoenix looks around and I grab onto his arm, I don't have time for any of his half planned escapes.
Demon looks down at the scrub on the side of the road. The ground slopes down, once the car starts rolling it won't want to stop. There is enough greenery to cover it and my guess is that it will take them at least an hour to try and find it, even with a tracking signal.
Demon looks over to me "you know that you could push this a lot easier than I could."
I take the hint and look at Phoenix "Here, hold him." Demon grabs onto Phoenix's arm and I walk over to the car.
I haven't even take two steps when I hear Demon yell as Phoenix twists out of his grip. I roll my eyes; Marked people are much stronger than Humans so it doesn't really surprise me. I watch calmly as Phoenix runs along the road. Demon looks at me in agitation while rubbing his shoulder where Phoenix had pulled at his socket "You aren't going to get him?"
"He won't get far." I say while giving the car a shove. I watch as it rolls down the slope, branches whipping back as it runs through them. As soon as the car passes the branches they spring back into place, hiding the car as it rolls down the slope.
Turning I spot Phoenix who appears as a dark blur against the late afternoon sun. I look over to Demon "Wait here, I'll be back soon."
As night falls my eyes sharpen and while my vision isn't perfect I can easily see Phoenix up ahead. I keep my footsteps light as I run, not wanting Phoenix hear me. Using the darkness I stay at the edge of the road and blend into the shadows that the trees shed from the moonlight. Phoenix's pace is finally starting to slow from a sprint to a fast run and I keep pace with him for a bit. His breathing is coming out in ragged gasps as he tries to keep up a fast pace.
I check my own breathing; while the experiments were the most painful thing I've ever been through they have been a huge help lately. My breathing is easy and I feel as if I could run through the night without breaking a sweat.
Deciding that Demon is probably wondering what's taking so long I pick up my pace and overtake Phoenix who continues, unaware I'm now in front of him.
Standing in the middle of the road I wait. He skids to a stop as he spots me and swears. I give a smile and in the moonlight his face is as clear as day. His markings flash green and he takes a step back.
I take a step towards him "Come on Phoenix, you knew as soon as you began to run it wouldn't work, so why try?"
He takes another step back while answering, "I had to try."
I smirk before closing in on the gap that separate us. He can barely track my movement with his eyes as I lurch forward and grab his arm, feeling his muscles beneath my grip. He may be stronger than a human but there is no way he can beat me. Not after what I've become.
He tries to jerk away and I twist his arm up and behind his back. He gives a cry. I look down to see that along his arm, blood is dripping. It seems that the wounds from where I cut his gliding skins have been bleeding. My eyes flash as I growl out "why didn't you tell me you were bleeding?"
