The Poet

Once upon a time, there was a beauty.

Her long hair flowing in the wind, oh what a cutie.

Upon seeing my face, she waved.

And it was one of the times I'm glad I've shaved.

For many years, I loved my job more than ever,

especially when she joined in after.

Her smile brightened up my whole world

and it was amazing how she was only a girl.

As time flies, I could no longer concentrate.

She was the one who made me in that state.

People said it was lovesick, whatever infatuation,

but I knew in my heart that it was purely affection.

One day, she noticed that I was doing my work.

And with a little push, she gave me a jerk.

I jumped and saw her flawless face,

the one I was in love with in the first place.

We had many conversations

and we laughed without any hesitation.

We knew we were perfect together

and that was when I asked her.

Inseparable was the word that people used

to describe us crazy lovers two.

December first I got on one knee,

pulled out a ring and said marry me?

Delighted, she agreed with tears of joy.

She was going to marry the lucky boy.

Needless to say, we got married

and in my arms I kissed the bride who I carried.

I never knew our love would end this way.

Alone in a king-sized bed I lay.

Forgive me, God, as I committed a sin.

The thread of our love was wearing thin.

All the work we had kept us up all night

The super long proposals we had to write

Three years and no kids

I wondered what we had missed.

We were more and more distant each day

To each other, less than a word to say

Regardless, my feelings for her were strong

Why must she go and do something wrong?

Another man. I was certain.

She was actually in love with the new intern.

Disgusted and betrayed by her actions,

I seeked the intern for some clarifications.

Confirmation was what I got

"I need to seek revenge," I thought.

Not on the man but on the adulterer.

Whom I was going to instill fear.

She came home late that evening,

didn't know that I was waiting.

I held up my shiny knife, creeping towards her

and watched her scream in fright and cried after.

Mercy, was what she begged me for.

But I couldn't erase what I had saw.

An intern, for god's sake!

It was more than I could take.

She gasped as the blade penetrated her stomach.

Blood came gushing out profusely, oh shucks.

Her body became lifeless after I

stabbed her repeatedly in the eyes.

Instant gratification was what I felt,

as I saw my 'artwork' lying on my couch.

"Wonderful," I thought about what I had done.

The betrayals would of course be none.

I dropped the knife

and took a last picture with my wife.

Happy Anniversary, my dear Lindy.

And once upon a time, there was a beauty.
