I turned to look at Maeve. "What do you mean by she has started again?" I asked Maeve. She looked at my face then Tj's, then cleaned her eyes.

She cleared her throat. "She didn't tell you guys?" She asked again.

"Tell us what?" At this point, I was panicking.

"Oh wow. It's not in my place to say then. You guys will just have to drill it from her. Since she couldn't tell you, she may have her reasons. Just talk to her about it."

"You're obviously not making any sense. How are we going to talk to her about something we know nothing about." Tj literally said, face palming himself.

She shrugged and sniffed. "Just talk to her. I can't tell you guys. She's already mad at me. I don't want her to become even more angry." She said.

My chest began to hurt so bad. I didn't know if I was upset that my best friend was keeping something almost life threatening from me or the fact that I suddenly felt like I didn't know her at all anymore.

The nurse told us to excuse her while she ran some tests on Simi. We got back to our various classes. Maeve was still hell bent on keeping us in the dark. School went by quickly as usual, I went back to the sick bay to see Simi before I went home finally.

I got home pissed. I was really pissed. I greeted my mom and went to my room to have my bath and change.

I felt a pang of headache. I drank from the bottled water I always put on my bedside table, I change it once it's finished. I slept off afterwards. I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I checked the caller's ID and it was Tj.

I cleared my throat and picked the call. "Hello."

"Did I wake you up?" His voice was laced with concern.

"Yes, you did."

"Is that why you're crying?" I chuckled. "Anyway, I called to check up on you. You were pretty upset today. Hope you're good though?"

I nodded and then realize he couldn't see me so I spoke up. "Yeah I'm fine. I'm just very hungry right now."

"Of course you are. You eat like a horse." I rolled my eyes and climbed down from my bed. "I'll call you back later."

"I know you won't. You always say that and then you run away." He laughed loudly.

"Don't say that jor. Don't allow people to hear you. I'm serious, I'll call you back later. I love you!" He cut the call before I could reply.

I shook my head, dropped my phone on my bed and left my room for the kitchen. I was very hungry. I opened the pot and saw porridge plantain, one of my favorites. I warmed it up and I took the amount I knew I could finish comfortably, brought out a bottle of water from the fridge and began to eat.

My mom came into the kitchen about three minutes later. "Good evening mummy." She nodded and sat down opposite me.

"You seemed upset when you came back. Did anything happen at school?" I nodded.

"Yes, something happened with Simi but I don't know the cause and the only person that has an idea on what happened to her, doesn't want to say anything." I said, after I had eaten what was in my mouth.

"Just give it time. You've always been curious. Simi will come around. Don't allow this incident to put a strain on your friendship." She rubbed my hands and left the kitchen.

She came back almost immediately and laughed nervously. "I forgot why I came here. I came to get this." She said, taking the TV remote with her. What that was doing in the kitchen is what I don't even want to know.

I finished up, washed my plate and went to my room to study. People at school were already saying test was next two weeks and I really wanted to do well.

I finished studying about three hours later. I checked the time and it was 11:26pm. I went to the bathroom to have my bath. I got dressed and went to bed. Tomorrow was another of my doctor's appointment. I soon slept off.

"Good afternoon ma." I greeted the doctor together with my mom. She smiled as she looked up from the files she was studying.

"Amy. How are you doing?" Her smile was really blinding.

"I'm good ma." I smiled back, trying to match her energy.

"That's good. We will check how the babies are doing in a while. Why don't you go and undress." I did as I was told. A nurse led me to the scan room and the doctor began to do her thing.

"You know you're not supposed to sleep laying down on your back or on your stomach right?" She said, absent minded.

"She's not supposed to lay on her back? Why's that?" My mom chipped in.

"For one, it suffocates the baby. Laying on your sides are usually adviced, it's healthier that way. You don't want to give birth to still borns right?" I nodded rapidly.

Thankfully, I never lay on my back. I was never comfortable that way. Immediately I was done, she gave me a list of drugs to give to the pharmacist on our way. My mom paid for them and we were on our way home. I saw a woman selling corn outside the gates of our estate. I persuaded my mom to buy for me.

I ate in the car while my mom kept saying I shouldn't leave corn grains in her car. I smiled and nodded. We got home and she went to the kitchen to start preparing food.

I changed out of my uniform and went to help her in the kitchen. She was making rice and carrot sauce. I hleped her to slice the vegetables. We finished about twenty minutes later. I took my plate to the parlor to watch a movie. I was almost done with my food when Tj came in with his mom.

She touched my cheek as I greeted her and went to hunt my mom down.

"Old man." I said, avoiding his eyes.

"I won't answer you. I'm hungry, very hungry." I turned and eyed him.

"Why didn't you eat before coming? Anyway, check the kitchen. That's if your mom hasn't taken everything though." He quickly got up from the chair and ran to the kitchen.

He came back almost five minutes later, grinning from ear to ear. "I won." I rolled my eyes and continued watching what was showing. "Were you able to talk to Simi today?"

I shook my head. "She didn't want to see anyone. I asked the nurse how she was doing though. She's recovering but they're literally begging her to eat." Tj smiled and patted my back.

"She'll come around. She can't hide forever. So how did the visit to the doctor go?"

"It went well. Do you know a pregnant woman isn't supposed to sleep laying down on her back?" I said, turning fully to look at him.

"I didn't but why?"

"According to her, it suffocates your child."

"Oh. That's cool. Let me tell you something that happened in my class." I nodded, as if telling him to go on.

"You know Amanda nah? Wait who doesn't know Amanda? Anyway, her nudes leaked today. It's all over the senior secondary school class groups. You would have known but you don't take WhatsApp seriously." He said the last part, rolling his eyes.

"Are you serious? Ha! I would have liked to see her face oh. How did it happen? Who did she even send them to?" I said in a rush.

"I don't know but she's dead meat. And before you ask, I didn't see the nudes, I just heard." I eyed him and he cleared his throat. "Fine! I just peeped a little. Besides, seeing is believing." He added dramatically.

"You're something else." We watched our movie in silence.
