Song: spirit by Beyoncé
After the plenty pleasantries, we finally went in. It turns out that my mom and Maeve's mom lost contact after the death of their friend. Maeve's mom's parents had to send her out of the country and they didn't get in touch till now.
Maeve led me to her room. Her room was really massive. It was like twice the size of mine. She took my bag and dropped it in her closet. Her big bed stood magnificently at the center of the room.
"My friend will be here soon. She's always late to things. So what do you want to eat? Jollof rice? Fried rice? Banga soup? Ofe nsala? What?" She said, talking really fast.
"I want Banga please. I need something heavy. I followed her out of her room and she took me to the direction I assumed was the place the kitchen was. We got there and she dished the food for me.
"I know our baby needs something good to hold her. Don't you pumpkin? Don't you?" She said the last part in a playful voice as she touched my stomach.
"What makes you think it will be a her." I said, collecting the tray of food from her hand.
"I just feel it's a girl you're having. I can't wait to meet her." I rolled my eyes at her dramatic demonstration.
"I'm having two babies though. Just so you know."
She squealed. " Even better! I can't wait to meet them. I'll be their Godmother. What do you think?" She smiled looking at me.
I ignored her and started eating. "You're so mean. Like really mean. I'll just want believe it's the pregnancy that's making you act like this." She smiled and left me alone at the table.
"Amaka! I'm going! I'll see you on Friday. Bye!" I heard my mom shouting from wherever she was shouting. I shouted an okay and continued eating.
I heard two people talking as they walked towards the area I was sitted.
"So why didn't you invite Diane? She really wanted to come." The other person said.
"Oh please! I don't need bad energy. Anyway, come and meet my friend, Mimi. She's not a very nice person but she's trying. Scratch that, she's really mean." Her friend chuckled. Maeve was a dramatic person. I shook my head and turned to see Maeve with the girl I saw at the park last week.
"Oh hi Amy. Do you still remember me?" Ava said.
"Of course I do. You're Ava. How is Pinky? Does she miss me?" She laughed as she sat down beside me. Maeve scoffed as she looked at the both of us.
"I can't believe that the both of you already met. What a world! And Mimi, why are you so friendly all of a sudden."
I shrugged. "I'm friendly naturally. I'm really nice, didn't I tell you?"
"No you didn't. You've been mean to me." I ignored her and stood up with my tray. "See? You're ignoring me. You always hurt my feelings."
I snorted. "Please stop acting like a baby. I'm ashamed on your behalf. Your whining is disturbing my ear."
She was about to reply when Ava cut us off with her laughter. "Both of you arguing is so funny." I washed my hands and cleaned it with the napkin Ava gave me.
"I can't believe it. You're suddenly acting so sweet towards Ava. How did you guys meet self? And how come she already knows about pinky?" Maeve asked, crossing her hands.
"I told you I met a girl at the park in my estate last week now! The one that pinky licked her legs. She was the girl." Ava concluded.
It was suddenly my turn to cross my arms.
