"Shh. It's okay. It's going to be fine." I said, rubbing her back in a circular motion. 

"Don't worry, I'm here for you."

The rest of the day dragged by slowly and it was time to go home. Today had really been stressful. I had to skip a class just to be with Simi.

I got home tired and hungry. I pulled my uniform and jumped into the shower to have a cold bath. After dressing up, I left the room to the kitchen to look for something to eat. I saw a cooler and opened it; vegetable soup and pounded yam was inside. I put them in a dish and took them to the dining room.

After my lunch, I decided to take a walk. I washed my plates, and left the kitchen to my room to get my slippers, house key, phone and ear plugs. I left my room to the fridge to get a bottle of water and I left the house, locking the door behind me.

I stood on the front porch and opened the music app on my phone, played a song and inserted the ear plugs into my ear and I walked out of the gate.

I felt the evening breeze on my skin. I walked far from the house, just around the estate. I soon got to the mini park beside a mini mall. I walked into the park and went to sit down on one of the benches. I watched with great interest as kids played around under the close supervision of their parents.

I was still watching them when I felt something wet touch my toes. I looked down and saw a puppy lick my toes, while looking up at me occasionally. It's fur was white and very hairy. I paused the music I was listening to, removed my ear piece and put my phone in the pocket of my joggers. I bent down and began to ruffle it's ears.

"You're a good boy. Abi girl. I don't even know. But you're so cute." I remember asking my mom for a dog and she always declined because she doesn't like them.

The puppy was so happy and she was furiously wagging her tail.

"Pinky!" I heard a voice call out and the dog immediately looked up and ran to meet the person calling.

Hmm! Pinky huh?

I sat down and watched as the owners, a boy and a girl, both of them were about my age, touched the dog. The girl suddenly made her way towards me smiling. I gave her a tight smile as she sat down beside me.

"Hi. I'm Ava. I'm really surprised Pinky allowed you to touch her. She's usually not that friendly." She said, still smiling. She was light skinned with a little amount of pimples on her face. He eyes were small and almond shaped. Her face was oval and her hair was locked- I mean dreads.

"Well, dogs love me. Except pitbulls. Those things are just mean." I giggled.

"I know right? We had a pitbull once though but my dad had to kill it. It was becoming a problem. And you didn't tell me your name."

"Oh! My bad! I'm Chiamaka."

"Do you stay around here?" She asked using her eyes to watch her brother as he walked toward us.

"Yes. My house is a few blocks away from here." I replied, playing with my fingers.

"This is my brother, Aaron." She said, as soon as her brother got to where we were sitting.

"Nice to meet you guys." I stretched my hands to shake him. He smiled as he returned the gesture.

"Nice meeting you too. We have to go now. See you around, hopefully." He said and they left.

I brought out my phone and checked the time. It was almost 6:30pm. I saw 20 missed calls and realized my mom had been calling me, even Tj and his mom too. I sighed and left the park for my house.

I got home about 15 minutes later, I saw Tj's mom's car outside the gate. My guess is my mom called them when she couldn't find me at home and possibly when I didn't pick my calls. I walked into the house and saw my mom on the phone talking to someone.

Immediately I entered, they all turned to look at me. Tj was the first to stand up. He rushed and hugged me before pulling away.

"Where have you been young lady? I've been calling you? What happened to your phone?" My mom asked, with her hands on her laps.

"I went to the park to receive fresh air."

"What happened to this compound? No fresh air here abi? You couldn't even call me or send me a text message so I can know where you are. You just left and didn't pick my calls." She literally looked like smoke was coming out of her ears.

I bit the inside of my cheeks. Arguing with my mom will take me nowhere, she always wins. I got walked towards her and touched her cheeks.

"Mummy nah. I'm sorry, it won't happen next time. My phone was silent and I was enjoying the view in the park." I grinned toothily at her. She looked at me and scoffed.

"Next time, if you do this kind of thing, I'll kill you. So I bought something for you." With that, I knew she had forgiven me. I looked at Tj's mom and winked. She laughed at my little gesture and I followed my mom into the kitchen.

Tj and his mom had gone. I was currently in my room, watching a movie on my laptop.  Although, it was a school night but all work and no play makes Amy a dull girl. As soon as I was done with the movie, I pulled off my clothes and went to have my bath. After having my bath, I put on my nightie and tucked myself into bed. I set the A.C. to a certain temperature and slept off as soon as my head touched the pillow.

I woke up to the sound of the home theater system booming. I put on my bedside lamp and the clock beside me read 2:14. I came down from my bed and went into my bathroom to ease myself. After that, I left my room for the parlor. Behold, my mom was dancing around in circles, with her hands waving in a worship-like manner. I stood there, watching her smile and laugh while dancing. Mercy Chinwo's omekannaya was playing loudly.

She noticed me standing there few minutes later and ushered me to sit beside her.

"So why are you so excited?" I asked her, smiling.

"Maria's husband agreed to the surgery. Your aunt is going to be Ebube's donor." My mom said, with a cracked voice. I knew she was about to cry. I quickly hugged her.

"That's so nice. I'm so happy he agreed." I literally jumped up from where I was sitting. I giggled and clapped and I looked at my mom, while she cleaned her eyes.

"You're not as happy as I am. She's going to travel during the midterm so that they can start the procedure. I don't know how long it will take for her to recover from the surgery but she has handled everything else." My mom said. I knew she was very happy.

I yawned while we sat quietly, both of us were lost in our thoughts.

"Go and sleep. Tomorrow is school. Tj's mom is coming to pick you up tomorrow and you know she goes early to work so go and sleep." I nodded and pecked her on her cheek.

I walked to my room happily, I was eager to know what tomorrow will bring.
