"Chiamaka what is this I'm seeing?" She nearly screamed.

Oh oh! Okay I'm officially dead now.

"Mu... Mu" I stammered with shaky hands

"Mu mu. So you can't speak? I asked you a question? What is this? So you're pregnant?" She asked furiously. My blood suddenly went cold. She looked like she could butcher me that instant and use me to make fresh human pepper soup.

"Mummy I was going to tell you." I stared at the ground.

"You were going to tell me. How long have you known?" Her hands were on her waist now.

"I knew about it about two weeks ago." I felt Tj squeeze my hand.

"And you couldn't even tell me? What kind of child are you? Who's the father?" She glanced at Tj.

"I'm the father ma." Tj whispered.

"In fact come inside the house both of you." She made way for us to enter. We got in and we all sat down. The AC in the parlor was making matters worse. I began to shiver like there was no tomorrow.

"So start talking. Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant? No wonder you've started adding weight and you have been eating like an elephant." She said, rubbing her temple.

"I honestly wanted to tell you. That's why Tj came with me today, to tell you about it. I just didn't know what your reaction will be." I muttered loud enough for her to hear.

"Of course I'm mad that my 16 year old daughter is pregnant. This is going to change everything; your education, your life. Teenagers nowadays can't even control their hormones." She hissed.

"Ma, she can try home schooling when her belly begins to show and maybe continue like that till she's done with her waec." Tj stated.

"That means she won't be going out then because I can't imagine what people will say about my teenage daughter that's pregnant. I don't even know how to tell your father." She stood up from her chair, left the parlor and walked into the kitchen. She came back a minute later with a bottle of water.

She handed the bottled water to me. "Drink that. Tomorrow, we're both going to see my gynaecologist. Let's do a scan and register for ante-natal. I also need to talk to Maria. She'll have to help me get three teachers that'll be that will help you in your major science subjects. When you give birth, you'll go back to school. But honestly, I'm disappointed in the both of you." With that, she left the parlor and went upstairs.

I let go of the breath that I didn't know I was holding. Tj sighed beside me.

"That went well." In response, I opened the water and downed it all in one go. "Okay, that was intense. I thought she was going to eat me. She looked scary to be honest."

"Tj just stop talking please." I said, standing up to throw the empty bottle in the trash can.

"I'm just trying to cheer you up. You've been moody and I know what just happened now got to you." His eyes held concern.

"Just stop talking okay? Everything doesn't have to be a joke to you. You just love acting nonchalantly." I hissed.

"Okay, now you're acting out. You're just transferring your aggressions on me." He reached out to hold me hands.

"I'm not. You know what? Just go home. Your driver must be exhausted. He has been waiting for over an hour. Just go home and leave me alone. I'm tired." With that, I left him in the parlor and went upstairs with my school bag. By the time I reached my room, I heard the gate closing. I knew he had gone already.
