"WHAT THE FUCK, CHARLOTTE?" Allie snapped once Charlotte entered Allie's house with the Pentagon behind her. Dewey was given sleeping pills so he could sleep the pain away, and the Pentagon quickly bandaged him up and left him in Miles' guest room. They didn't bother to handcuff him since they knew he would be passed out for a long time.
"What?" Charlotte raised an eyebrow as the five scattered around the living room, where the Guard, Allie, Will, Gordie, and Helena was.
"Why did you do that?" Allie questioned harshly, her eyes sharp.
"Shouldn't you guys be thanking me for taking the load off your hands?" Charlotte asked.
"Thanking you?" Allie furrowed her eyebrows.
Charlotte nodded, "If you guys actually shot Dewey, you three would be sitting here, moping in guilt because you couldn't redo what you have done."
Allie clenched her jaw, "That's not what I wanted to hear."
Charlotte raised an eyebrow, "Why are you getting mad at me for? Because I turned the execution into a public punishment?"
"What was the point of that?" Will asked, his eyebrows furrowed.
"We had to show what the people wanted to see," Valerie answered for Charlotte, "After today, they would know now that we're serious."
"Shooting him wasn't serious?" Luke questioned.
"Killing Dewey only makes this worse," Kyla shook her head, "It makes people unhappy with your choices and they'll slowly start to rebel,"
Xavier nodded in agreement, "If you killed Dewey, then people will assume 'oh, if they're just gonna act like they own the place and kill whoever they want, well then fuck these people!' and everything we worked hard for will go downhill."
Charlotte blinked at Xavier's way of explaining as Allie glared at Charlotte.
"How could you slice his arm like that? What are you going to do with him now? Let him run free so he could kill another person?!"
Charlotte raised her eyebrows at Allie's outburst and chuckled bitterly. "I don't know if you realize things, Allie, but Dewey is fucking terrified for his life right now. I had to show him that I was capable of doing something brutal, and that I can go even nastier the next time he tries to do something. Dewey will be let free so he can work around in this place like everyone else, but I made sure to remind him that his life belongs to me now."
"What does that mean?" Jason asked, his eyes wide.
"It means that I determine whether he keeps his legs or not, or if he gets to live."
Allie shook her head, "That's fucking crazy,"
A glare formed in Charlotte's eyes, "No, what's fucking crazy is that you were going to put a bullet through Dewey's head. You guys are acting like I just committed a big sin when you guys were the ones going to take a person's life away. I only took an arm and now you guys are acting like I just performed a massacre."
"You had a katana," Will muttered.
Valerie looked at Will and snorted, "What? Did you want her to use a butter knife?"
Right now, the two leaders were having a staring contest of their own, and the tension between them was heavy.
"Tell me Allie, would you have been satisfied after you killed Dewey? Would you be happy that you finally avenged your sister?"
Allie didn't respond, making Charlotte nod.
"Exactly. I did us all a favour." She began to stand, the others following along, "You can go ahead and view me differently, assume that I'm some type of monster, but I do things for a reason and you'll see why I do that."
