"YOU'RE OKAY.." Elle breathed out once she saw Charlotte enter the kitchen with Clark by her side. Charlotte nodded her head, eyeing the girl. Elle seemed extremely nervous and whatever she was trying to hide, she wasn't very good at it. Maybe she was just shaken up by what had happened, Charlotte had thought.
"After a trip to Hell, I'm still here." Charlotte smiled at Elle. "I heard you had convulsions too, I'm glad you're okay."
Elle gulped, and though it wasn't very visible, Valerie, who had been keeping a close eye on her friend, saw it. "Y-Yeah, I'm glad you're okay too," Elle let out an exhale, "Super glad.." Elle was so glad that she hadn't kill anybody aside from Campbell. He was her main target, and if others were affected badly, she wouldn't be able to live with the guilt.
Will glanced at Campbell before speaking. "You checked out food to cook at home? What did you bring?"
Elle looked around and looked at Valerie, whose expression was serious. "Just a pumpkin pie."
"You make it yourself?"
Elle nodded and hummed, crossing her arms.
"Campbell didn't help you?" Clark questioned, looking over at Campbell.
Elle shook her head, "No."
Campbell furrowed his eyebrows, "Why are you doing this? Why the interrogation?"
"People got sick." Will answered.
"Okay, so they got food poisoning, is that a crime?"
Clark narrowed his eyes at Campbell, "It's not just food poisoning, we think someone put poison in the dish."
Campbell's eyebrows raised in surprise, "Oh fuck,"
"What did you put in the pie, Elle?" Now it was Valerie's turn to speak up. She was busy watching Elle and her actions, and she was also having a mental battle with herself.
Elle was her friend, but poison was a big deal. People almost died. Valerie was very aware of Elle's relationship with Campbell and what went on, and Valerie suspected that Elle wanted a way out of it. She knew that if Elle wanted to breakup, Campbell wouldn't let happen so she resorted to one of the ideas that would actually work: to kill him.
As Elle began to list the ingredients, Charlotte looked over at Campbell who was staring at Elle with a dazed look. A look of realization. Charlotte told herself to bring it up later and continued to listen to Elle listen her ingredients.
Will asked if they could search the house and Campbell nodded. Clark gently moved Charlotte into Valerie's arms and the shorter girl hugged onto the taller girl. Charlotte chuckled under her breath as Valerie helped her stand.
"You're not much help,"
"Oh shut up, I'm strong." Valerie muttered to Charlotte as she watched Clark begin to open some cabinets.
"Elle got sick, you think she poisoned herself?" Campbell brought up after staring at Elle for a while.
"We're just investigating, no one's blaming her."
But I am. Valerie said in her head.
Clark continued to search, and Valerie glanced over at Elle to see her staring down Clark. When Clark went to the cabinet under the sink, Campbell spoke up.
"I tasted the filling. It was great." Clark stopped in his movements and looked up at Campbell.
Valerie noticed the look Elle gave Campbell as Campbell grinned at her.
"Wait, you said you cooked pumpkin pie?" Charlotte suddenly asked, her eyes on Elle.
Elle quickly looked at Charlotte to see her face blank. She slowly nodded.
