The floor was sandy. We held our breath and listened to sounds of the rocky cavern.
'No need to be so scared! You guys are better than the wild pokemon. Remember, finding the staircase out of the dungeon is important.'
Hearing Anubis's voice made us confident. We inched forward cautiously. Suddenly, a Geodude appeared in front of us. Our senses getting sharper and our battle skills getting better, we immediately attacked it. I shot off to the shadows, preparing a Water Pulse while Palm shot Bullet Seed at it for distraction. I leaped from the shadows and hit it with a Water Pulse. While it was recovering from my super-effective attack, Palm hit it with Mega Drain. At the same time, a Ember was fired from Ember hitting the Geodude. It fainted instantly.
'Well, good job! But that was seriously overkill. Look at the Geodude.' A blackened, wet mass replaced the fierce Geodude we had encountered.
We scratched our heads sheepishly.
'We learned this from Todd...' Palm said.
'It's ok, but don't do it next time. Otherwise the Conference will sue us for brutal injury.' We laughed at this.
We continued on. If a wild pokemon appeared, Palm or I would just take it on one-on-one.
Suddenly the narrow chamber opened to a large floor. Inside were about twenty pokemon for example Geodude, Sandshrew and Zubat inside, and they didn't look friendly at all.
'It's a monster house!' Anubis's voice rang out again. 'RUN!'
Hearing this we scampered for our lives, but the pokemon quickly caught up with us. We had no choice but to fight. This was the fiercest battle we had ever been in. We dodged many rocks and scratches, then fired our own attacks occasionally. Gradually, after five minutes or so, the weakest pokemon, also the most of them, either fainted or ran away.
A loud screech rang across the room.
A Graveler, Sandslash and Golbat appeared. They were probably the leaders of the monster house! The Golbat screeched again and flew at Palm with wing attack. Palm dodged and chased after him with Pursuit.
Meanwhile, Ember and I were locked in a dual battle with the Graveler and Sandslash. The Graveler charged us with a Rollout. We dodged the attack, and it got stuck in a rock because of its force. The sandslash attacked Ember and hit him with a Rock Throw. Ember shouted in pain and fell down. I shot a Water Pulse at the sandslash, knocking it out instantly. I immediately tended to Ember. Luckily, he had not fainted.
Little that we knew, the Graveler was standing behind us, preparing its most devastating attack, Explosion.
It was also at this time that Palm returned victorious against the Golbat. He shouted at us,' LOOK OUT!'
We saw the shadow looming with bright light above us, but it was too late. We shouted in fear, but it was too late. The Graveller exploded.
