As I sit on the floor with my face covered I feel the warm tears continue to stream down as i sniffle.
"I'm so sorry Amy" I whisper to myself as I take my right arm and dry off the tears. The screams faded as I rose my face taking in the view of who was in the hallway. Occasionally a nurse or doctor would pass by , but it remained empty most of the time. Thoughts of Amy's pain when she got kidnapped crossed my mind. The screams, the tears, the beatings, it hurt me so much that they chose her to do this to, but They knew she was my weakness. Before I knew it I felt the warm tears come Down again, I brought my knees in as I put my elbows on top of each one looking to the floor , letting them come out. I hear a few footsteps come my direction but I put no thought into it thinking it was another random doctor, but as I heard her soft innocent voice I knew it wasn't just anybody.
"Austin ?"
I look up quickly with my eyes still wet as I sniffled more. Her brown eyes meeting mine I got up quickly wiping the tears and engulfed her into my arms not caring what history we had in the past. I needed someone at that moment and she was there. "Mom" I said crying as I held her tight. Missing the mama love she'd always give me, tears continued down making my vision blurry as she let go and I shut them letting more tears out.
"Austin, it's okay, I'm here for you" her voice cracked as she wiped my last tears off.
"Have you eaten ?" She asked. I read her expression and she tried so hard to not brake down in front of me, her throat tightened. I answered by shaking my head softly, "come on, I think you should eat , let's go to the lunchroom" she said as she patted my back gently as we walked going to the cafeteria.

"You okay ?" She asked gently as she sat across from me. I stayed silent as I just stared at my sandwich. I felt so emotionless at that moment, not thinking of anything, but hugging Mama was something I really needed. It was different , not one of those comforting hugs you got from a close friend, but a hug where it felt like she was protecting me. For an 18 year old I thought it was supposed to be the son protecting the mother, but In my case it was the opposite.
"How'd you know I was here?" I finally said as I looked at her.
"I didn't.... I came for a checkup .. And I overheard the nurse say Amy's name" she explained , loudly yet only quiet enough for me to hear. The sound of dishes from the kitchen and the voices of doctors , people as they talked while eating filled the air , as well as the smells of tuna and ham turkey from the sandwiches they sold. "Then I asked the nurse what happened and she explained , she told me the room number as well...I was coming to see how she was doing."
"But...how'd you know it was me?" I asked with a little more curiosity as I sat up , not talking like if I were some dead emotionless robot.
"I noticed your shoes" she said as she gave me a small smile
"But they're new... You've never seen me in them " I respond as i look down at them.
"True... But, who else wears Bright blue and black Jordan's as well as matching with the shirt and jeans" she giggled, as a small smile crept on my face. She was right, ever since I was 14 I always had to match my shoes with my shirts.
"But Austin , please tell me... How did this happen ?" She asked
"Mom....There's some things.. You have to keep to yourself , and this is one of them" I replied she nodded in understandment.
"Austin just please , don't do anything that will hurt other people, you're a good person... I don't want you making the wrong choices" she says as she reaches out to grab my arm gently. I give her a slight nod,
"I'm...uh, planning on staying. I'm gonna stop what I'm doing and finally fix things. I'm sorry mom... I'm sorry if I ever hurt you in any way" her eyes watered as she bit her lip. "Mom please don't cry" I say getting up as I walk over to her bringing her in. I heard her soft cries next to my ear as I gently comforted her. "I love you mom."
"I love you too Austin"
