HEY GUYS! NEW CHAPTER!!!! I am also going to begin editing and revising prior work, so stay tuned for more. Enjoy! -Flashette1❤️⚡️
———————————————————————- Previously on: Flashette:
At that moment, a whistle blew and we turned our attention to the rest of those trapped. They began to get in line. Guard with dogs began circling around us.
"Before we figure out a way to get out of here, we need to figure out where we are." I examined the scene. These guards looked different than the ones we saw on our earth.
"Guys...We're not in Central City anymore...".
"Yeah...Tell me about it..." Jax scoffed.
"No, I'm serious...I think we're on Earth-X."
-------------------------------------------------------
"What makes you so sure?" one of the supers asked. I examined the scene. There were no buildings in sight, dirt covered the hills, and clumps of people in striped clothing. Lighting was dim, but I could make out subtle details of faces. A dog barked suddenly, and a guard began yelling at the prisoners, which broke me from my exploration.
"Eyes front!" the guard yelled. I jerked my body forward so I was facing the same direction as everyone else. Groups of prisoners were being escorted from the gate, for reasons that I didn't want to know. Sadly, I knew we were going to find out soon.
"So this is Earth-X..." said Barry, trying to sneak a few glances of the scene without the guards catching him.
"It's hard to believe a place like this actually exists on any Earth."
"Keep moving!" the guard yelled as our group began moving closer to the exit.
"Move!" the guard yelled again. "All prisoners, stay away from the gate."
"Look..." I said, pointing to the small little badges my group mates had on their chests. I looked behind me quickly at those who also had badges, but of different shapes. "Each person has stars and triangle badges". The supers nodded. "They must correlate to the crimes...." . One of the guards turned his back, so I took the opportunity to turn around and ask one of the prisoners a question.
"What did you do?" I asked the stranger behind me. He began to shake and kept his head down.
"I loved the wrong person." I frowned. This earth was hardcore.
"We gotta get out of here...They're gonna kill Kara," Alex said, nervously. Tears began to form in her eyes at the thought of losing her sister. I wanted to reassure her that we weren't going to let that happen.
"We won't let that happen," I said, placing a hand on Alex's shoulder. She looked up at me and wiped a tear from her eye.
"If we're gonna save her, we need to get out of he---". Stein's sentence was interrupted by one of the guards yelling again.
"MOVE!". The dogs barked again, this time, crazily. Our group stepped forward and we approached the mouth of the gate. We stood next to a guard and a dog was watching us intensely. This one must have been trained to run after any sort of movement it saw, such as a prisoner trying to escape. As we waited, I looked outside of the gated area we were kept in. It was darker and barely lit. I could see faintly the guards taking groups of prisoners to what looked to be a ditch.
"These are the supers we were told about," another guard said, pointing to us. The guard standing next to us with his dog nodded. He turned to face our group.
"Blonde hair blue eyes...Perfection..." he whispered as placed a hand under Sara's chin and raising it to meet his gaze. "Why align yourself with these people?". Sara looked around at our group with a small smile.
"Because I like men...and women," Sara replied with a smile. The guard scoffed.
"I had a daughter who looked just like you, with similar compulsions. She's been expulsed from my family line forever..." he stepped away from the gate and another guard to his place.
"BRING THEM ALL!" the soldier yelled. More Nazi's began swarming our group, taking each of us to the ditch I spotted earlier. The soldier who was leading me gripped my wrist tightly and dragged me to the mouth of the ditch. The rest of my friends were positioned the same way, in front of the ditch and facing the guards.
"This doesn't look good..." Barry mumbled as more soldiers approached with riffles. One stood in front of each of my groupmates, first, removing our shackles. Then they stepped forward, pointing the barrels of their guns right at us. "What's the escape plan?". I couldn't think of a next move. My mind was racing with too many thoughts.
"TURN AROUND!" the main guard yelled. We did what we were asked and turned our backs to them. There was nothing we could do but obey. My thoughts began trailing off...I thought of my home...my job...my family and friends...How every choice I've ever made has lead to this moment...I thought if how our earth was going to be taken over, and how I wouldn't be there to see my babies grow...I looked to my right towards the end of the line to see Barry with a tear in his eye. I met his gaze. I tried to hold back all the emotions and thoughts that raced through my head, but I had to be strong. I hope our babies are safe, I thought, looking away from Barry's gaze and back down to the floor.
"READY!" the soldier commanded, who we could assume was some sort of general. I gulped as the soldiers cocked their weapons. I could feel his weapon already burning a hole in my back. To be honest, this was not how I thought everything would all end, but things weren't looking good for the rest of us. "AIM!".... The soldier yelled again. "FIRE!" The soldier yelled. I clenched my eyes shut quickly and braced myself. A large blasting sound took over and I was awaiting the sharp pain of a bullet in my back. When I didn't feel anything, I felt confused. I opened my eyes. After a few seconds, I turned around to see all the soldiers frozen in place. This can't be Killer Frost, I thought. I turned around to see Leonard Snart, someone I never thought i'd see again.
"I hate fire..." Snart snickered, lowering his gun. He took the fluff covered hood off his head and examined the soldiers he had frozen.
"Great timing..." I said as he peered around from one of his soldiersicles. "Leonard Snart's doppelganger...". He wasn't always truthful or good to us, but I was glad to see him. He was one of those people...
"Call me Leo...". He stood in front of the group as we all gathered ourselves. "We better get moving," he said before turning around and taking a few steps forward.
"Where are we going?' I asked. Leo stopped in his tracks and turned around on his heel.
"To our base..." he replied in his signature, smooth voice. "Would you rather be staying here? I'm sure guards will be flooding the scene soon, but please, if you'd like to, you're welcome to stay." I looked back at my group of super friends. I knew that we didn't have much time before the Nazi's took over, and I wanted nothing more than to be home with my family.
"Let's go! Show us the way!" I demanded before Snart lead us to his headquarters.
At that time, the supers all took the time to settle in for a while. They passed around food and drinks as Leo began talking to the group.
"Must be good to take off those collars, huh?" Leo asked, helping Alex take off hers. "That's the last one...".
"Very..." Barry stated. "But it's not like I haven't worn some sort of collar before...". The group looked at him with furrowed eyebrows, some with smirks. Barry's eyes widened at the groups' reaction. "A power dampening one, that is...". The group continued to look around at each other. "I didn't mean it like that..." Barry mumbled, looking around at the group nervously. His hand rubbed the back of his neck, and he tugged at the collar of his shirt. The group then looked at me. I took control of the conversation before it became even more awkward.
"What he means is that it feels good to have our power back again...". Barry nodded, and Leo took step towards Barry.
"His mouth moves a little faster than his brain sometimes, I understand..." Leo observed, pointing at Barry. "You're definitely a speedster." Barry nodded.
"And so am I..." I pointed out. Leo didn't seem to care that much, He moved onto the next person to greet.
"And so you are...". He then turned to Stein and Jax.
"You two fuse into one...". Jax nodded as Stein placed a finger in the air.
"Firestorm," Stein added. Leo then walked upto Oliver, who had been watching attentively from the corner.
"The quiet, more reserved one must be Oliver Queen, doppelganger to the dark archer."
"How do you know all this?" Sara asked. "By the way, I'm Sara, a trained assassin if that's what you were going to ask. I don't have powers...".
"Well Sara, you see, this is a world full of a lot of advanced technology...And, there are all versions of each of you somewhere on this earth." Leo took a step towards Alex and paused, examining her for a second.
"I'm Alex, sister to Kara...". Snart shook his head.
"Doesn't ring any bells."
"Supergirl...The one the three Nazi leaders are trying to take a heart from." Snart's expression changed, implying he understood who she was. His mouth formed an "oh", like shape.
"I thought Mon-El-" I began to trail off. Everyone looked at me confused. I was trying to make a joke about how Kara's heart was already taken by Mon-El, but no one else thought it was funny. I was one of the biggest Karamel shippers out there. All I've ever wanted was my friends to be as happy in love as I am. "Sorry, too soon...". Snart then redirected the conversation and took it back. He stood back in front of his previous spot as we all listened.
"Nice to meet you all...And now that we've met each other, let's get on to why we're all really here." He picked up a tablet from the desk he was leaning on, and began tapping and typing. "If I'm not mistaken, you must have come through something like this," Snart said, holding up the tablet with a diagram displayed. Displayed on the tablet was a photo of what looked to be a breech. It looked "It's similar to what you guys call a breech, but this is larger and more stable." I looked at the diagram. It infact, was exactly like a breech.
"Sounds about right."
"This is your ticket back to your earth. The closest one from here is 22.3 kilometers away."
"Take us there!" I exclaimed. I wanted nothing but to get back to our earth before it was destroyed. I was willing to face anything.
"If only it were that easy...The gateway is monitored by a facility filled with Nazi soldiers."
"We can take more than a few Nazi soldiers, alright? We just need to get home, and fast".
"Noone's going through that, alright?" Smart asked. "We need to find another solution. I'm scanning for any others nearby".
"Why not?" I asked. "It's the closest option, and the quickest way home".
"We're blowing it up," a man responded as he walked into the room. He was joined by a few soldiers at his sides. The man looked somewhat familiar, but I hadn't recognized him. He was wearing a military uniform, and carried a weapon at his side.
"Winn?" Alex asked. I pointed to the man.
"Kara's friend, that's it! I knew I saw him somewhere! I remember him from when I sped all the way through time and saved Kara from falling off that building." The group looked around at me, dazed and confused. At that point, I wasn't sure if everyone else knew about that. "We ate ice cream together...You know what, nevermind."
"I'm not the Winn you all know," said the military man. He put his hand out for me to shake. "Freedom Fighter: General Schott. Now if I may ask, who are you all?".
"Friends from Earth-1, who are on our side," Leo added sternly. I could tell General Schott viewed us as a threat. I didn't blame him. I wouldn't know who to trust either. "Stand Down."
"I'm on your side, except for when it comes to your idea of blowing up our only way home," I said, crossing my arms. I had no idea as to why they wanted to get rid of the gateway. It was our only real way of getting home efficiently. "If we don't get home fast, earth will be taken over, our families will be captured, and our earth will be destroyed. By destroying that facility, you destroy our only chance of getting home and saving the world." General placed a hand in the air infront of his chest.
"I'm sorry, but we've been waiting years for an opportunity like this to come around. We can't waste anymore time. Destroying this facility will help us put a stop to all our problems on this earth."
"At least let us try to get home! We've faced quite a bit in our Superhero lifetimes. Let us at least try before you make that decision." General Schott took off his cap and rubbed his forehead.
"Over 200 soldiers guard the gateway, you stand no chance. We're blowing it up right away, and that is an order, no questions!" Winn demanded. He placed his cap back on his head, nodded at Leo, and exited the room.
"General has spoken. His word takes precedence, and his commands are final," Leo said, placing his tablet down on the desk. He looked as if he was out of options and giving up. I sure wasn't. I was the leader of this mission after all.
"That can't be it," I said, stepping in front of this group. "Leo was so quick to step up and save us from almost dying, but for what? We're going to die here anyways if we sit around and wait for the Nazi's to find us. And if we don't act fast enough, we may not have a place to go home to. I'm not gonna settle for this. I won't let everything we've worked for go to waste."
"Let me try to catch up to him," Alex suggested. "He and I are like siblings on our earth. If he knew Kara was in danger, he'd risk everything to help her." I could tell Snart wasn't buying it. Before he shot down the idea, I thought it would be worth a shot. Afterall, we had no other options.
"Let her try," I demanded. Snart eventually nodded after a period of silence. Alex then walked out of the door to try to catch up to General Schott, and Snart shortly followed behind her. At this point, we all split off. Barry and I split off and walked into the hall a few doors over from where everyone was meeting. Barry pulled me into one of his bear hugs. I melted into his embrace. They way he would hold me was always so comforting.
"This is not how I imagined we would be celebrating our children's first birthday." Barry placed his head on top of mine. I nodded in agreement.
"I just want to get home to them," I replied with a sigh. "I hope they're okay." Barry pulled away from the hug and I met his green eyed gaze.
"I'm sure Auntie Caitlin and Grandpa Joe are working around the clock to make sure they're both alright,'' said Barry, rubbing his hands up and down my back.
"I hope so."
"I know so," Barry planted a kiss on my forehead. "We'll find a way back to them...We always do..." Barry said before Alex jogged by us and back into the initial room. The team then regrouped.
"We talked to the general," Alex stated, sharing the news. Snart then took over.
"After a lot of arguing, he agreed to let you take a shot at getting out of here." A smile appeared on my face. I didn't think the General would listen, but i'm glad he finally did. "We're gonna help you out. He referenced 200 guards," Snart said, pulling up a map of the building on his tablet and displaying it on one of the computers so the group could see. "I would assume the majority of them would be on the outside. What you would have to do it fight all around the outside and access the main corridor."
"Firestorm can do some recon", Jax suggested. Snart shook his head.
"Meta human dampeners around the whole facility".
"How are we supposed to fight them without powers?" Stein asked.
"According to the satellite, there's a control room inside," Snart pointed out on the diagram. I nodded, showing I understood.
"Turn off the dampeners, and we'd be good to go," Sara clapped her hands together. "Let's go!". She began walking towards the door. At this point, we had no escape plan, no disguises, and barely formed a plan of attack.
"Not so fast..." I said as she stopped mid-step and turned on her heel. "We need to blend in somehow..." I looked around the room for some sort of idea, when I saw General Schott peek his heed in the doorway.
"You have one hour. If you don't make it in an hour, we're lighting it up anyways." I held out of my hand for him to shake. He looked down at my hand with a frown, and I pulled my hand away slowly.
"Thank you. We all appreciate you delaying your operation for at least letting us try to get home."
"No more wasting time...Suit up...". One of General Schott's men handed him a duffel bag, which he tossed into the center of the Tom. He then walked away, taking his men with him. Pouring out of the opened bag we're out suits.
"How did he-".
"They don't really keep all these things locked up at those camps," Snart replied. "Anyways, let's get going. Time is running out the longer we wait...".
"If we want to have a fighting chance, we still need a way to blend in...". My eyes trailed to the bottom of the bag, which contained a Nazi soldier uniform, propably belonging to the guard who took our stuff at the camp. My eyes then trailed over to Oliver, who was settling his quiver on his back.
"What?" Oliver asked, noticing I was looking at him. I picked up the soldier's jacket and displayed it for all to see. The group eventually caught on.
"Suit up, Oliver...Or should I say: Commander".
The team and I made our way to the facility, which we could see was heavily guarded. After firestorm checked the perimeter and Barry took out the soldiers at the gate, it was easy for us to get in. We took some of the uniforms off the soldiers and gave them to our team members, who also put them on. After we were all disguised with our masks and uniforms, we began to enter the building. We stood in rows with Oliver trailing behind.
"Papers, please," a Nazi soldier asked, who was guarding the door. I looked at Barry and shook my head.
"We don't have papers. It's a special visit," Barry replied. The other soldier guarding the door tightened his grip on the weapon he was holding.
"Papers, now!" the soldier demanded. Barry and I shared a glance.
"I think you should talk to our boss," I replied before the team broke off into two sections on the outside of the stairs, revealing Oliver at the bottom. He walked up the stairs slowly (for dramatic effect), and cleared his throat. We then returned to our normal formation when he reached the top of the stairs. He was wearing a commander's cap and a coat. The two soldiers straightened up looked at Oliver.
"As you were, gentleman," Oliver said in a deeper tone to replicate the dark archer. "Let them through". The two soldiers stepped away from the door and the door opened behind them.
"Commander," they said in unison as Oliver stepped through with us following behind him. As we walked through the corridors, many soldiers passed us, but didn't stop or question because Oliver was so convincing. After all, he was a doppelgänger.
Soon after we reached the control room, where the gateway was supposed to be. Oliver quickly shut off the power dampeners on the control panel as we stood guard to make sure no one would catch onto our antics.
"Where is the gateway?" Oliver asked, looking at all the buttons on the control panel. Before he could figure out how to activate it, another general came into the room. I wanted so badly to use my powers and get us out of this, but I knew that they could end the world in seconds, not to mention the building was surrounded by soldiers. If our cover was blown, we'd all be dead. Instead of fighting, I kept my cover. At least we had our powers to use now if we needed.
"We were not expecting you," Detective Lance's doppelganger said as he entered the doorway. The rest of the team stood in their formation. "I didn't think you'd be back so soon." Oliver turned to Detective Lance.
"Thanks to your incompetence, the Earth-1 doppelgangers-my doppelganger-escaped their execution on the hill." Oliver turned back to the control panel, where you could see screens that monitored all action of the building.
"We are using all means to locate them, Sir. In the meantime, would you like us to delay deployment on the doomsday device? It's fully operational and ready to go." Oliver nodded his head and replied in the low, grumbly tone:
"As scheduled". One of the soldiers standing with Lance's doppelganger walked over to another panel toward the door, and pressed the red button. Lights flashed, and a countdown for the device began.
"Anything else I can help you with?" Oliver asked, placing his hands behind his back.
"A gift to celebrate your return." A young girl was then pushed into the doorway and thrown to the floor. She looked up through her dirty, dark hair to reveal a face our team had known all too well: Felicity Smoak. Her doppelganger, anyways. I could tell seeing her being treated this way made Oliver uncomfortable. Despite this, he kept his composure.
"I know how much you enjoy executing rule breakers, and this one's broken many". The young girl began to sob. "She was giving her rations to the children at the camps." Oliver took a step towards her and turned his head.
"Strictly against my rules." Oliver stepped back as Detective Lance's doppelganger handed him a gun. Oliver loaded the weapon and pointed it at "Felicity". Oliver's face softened for a split second, and Lance's doppelgänger must have caught that. In that moment, I knew we'd be in trouble.
"Must be hard, considering she resembles exactly the woman you love". Oliver's brow furrowed under his cap. He then pointed the gun he was given at Detective Lance's doppelgänger to defend himself. Lance crossed his arms. Oliver pulled the trigger, but nothing happened. It was a setup.
"You thought i'd give you a loaded weapon before verifying who you really are?" Earth-x Lance asked. The soldiers surrounding Detective Lance pulled out their weapons and pointed them at us. They began to shoot as I sped in front of the team and caught the bullets. Our team dispersed around the facility, throwing off their disguises and getting into fighting mode. Detective Lance must've slipped out when shots began to fire, because he was nowhere to be found. Oliver fought off some of the soldiers by hand without the help of his arrows, and helped Felicity's doppelganger run for cover. As the team was fighting, I dodged the bullets and sped around, looking for a solution to our problem. I couldn't find the control panel to access the gateway. After sleuthing, I finally found it.
"The panel is damaged...It must've been hit when the soldiers began firing...". I examined the panel, and the button was non pressable. You could barely make out it's label. "What are we going to do?" I asked.
"There should be a manual override on the platform," Snart stated in between blasts of his cold gun.
"Guess we're gonna have to fight our way through, then".
"Make it quick. In ten minutes, the Red Tornado's gonna bring down the entire facility, and there's nothing we can do to stop that robot," General Schott said through the com link.
"Ray, Barry, and I will go after the robot, tornado thing, you guys get us out there and fight off the soldiers, and try to find the entrance to the gateway," I said in my com link to the rest of the team. I could see more soldiers enter the room, signaling that we didn't have a lot of time.
"Alright...Let's go to war".
Firestorm blew the main door open of the facility before separating once again and splitting off to try and find the alternate switch to access the control panel. The group then began fighting off the rest of the soldiers. Snart used his cold gun, Oliver shot them down with his arrows, and Alex and Sara used their fists. Barry, Ray, and I were able to make it out successfully, and we began looking around for the robot.
"There it is!" I exclaimed, seeing a red flash light up the sky above us. I began speeding towards it. "I'm going for it," I responded as I speed towards the robot as Ray and Barry followed behind. Clouds of dust formed behind me as I sped along on the changing terrain. I had no idea where this robot was going, but I knew that I had to stop it.
"You need height," Ray said into the comlink. "You can't reach it unless you have some sort of 'super jumping' powers," Ray joked. I examined the scene as I continued to speed along. I could see a train approaching, which would serve as the perfect jumping point. I sped a little faster and ran across the side of the train, and eventually to its roof. I gathered enough speed that I was able to jump off and reach the robot by the time I sped to the train's front. I latched onto the robot, and tried to grip onto it somehow. There wasn't anything to hold.
"Chloe, you alright?" Barry asked into the comlink as he continued to follow. The robot begam creating an air vacuum with his hands in an attempt to shake me off.
"I'm losing grip..." I said as I struggled to hold on. The vacuums loosened my grip even more, and I lost grip completely. I was free falling, but was lucky to land in the arms of Ray, who brought me to the ground.
"What's our next move?" I asked Ray and Barry. "We need to catch back up." I stood, attempting to catch my breath and gather myself.
"That can wait," Jax's voice came over the comlink. He sounded panicked, nervous, and scared. I could hear gunshots from behind and Jax's voice had a hint of sadness. "We got a man down. Come back, quick!".
