Previously on "Flashette":
"What's our next move?" I asked Ray and Barry. "We need to catch back up." I stood, attempting to catch my breath and gather myself.
"That can wait," Jax's voice came over the comlink. He sounded panicked, nervous, and scared. I could hear gunshots from behind and Jax's voice had a hint of sadness. "We got a man down. Come back, quick!".
———————————————————————
"Grey got hit a few times in an attempt to flip the gateway switch. We gotta get him out of here!" Jefferson yelled through the comlink, hoping that someone would come to his rescue and save the both of them. My heart sank. I wanted to be there to help Stein, but we had to finish this job first, or else everyone would be dead. Before we lost the robot too much, we continued to chase him.
"He's almost at the breach hangar," said Ray. "If we don't stop him, he's gonna blow up our only ticket home, as well as us and everyone inside it." I continue to chase the robot with more speed and energy. I wanted to finish this, and I wanted to get home. As I continued to chase and come up with some sort of plan, Ray spoke into the comlink again: "I got it...Chloe, throw a lightning bolt." I shook my head in response.
"Barry already tried that, its-".
"Trust me," Ray said as Barry and I stopped running. I began to circle around the scene, generating a vacuum of energy.
"NOW!" Ray yelled. I stopped suddenly, made my arms into an "x", and released the bolt. We watched as the bright pink blast hurdled its way to the robot, who continued moving forward. Just as it reached the Red Tornado, Ray threw a bright yellow blast of his own. The surge of both blasts caused the robot to malfunction. It exploded in midair, as if it were a giant firework. I then turned around and hi-fived Barry and Ray.
"Stein opened the gateway and we're about to leave. Where are you guys?" Sara asked through the comlink.
"Just in time..." I replied into the comlink. I looked over at Barry and Ray, who smiled. "Coming your way, now," I replied with a nod to the others before speeding back to the hanger with Ray and Barry following.
Upon arriving back to the hanger, we could see the team was all huddled around Stein. My eyes quickly settled on Jax, who's eyes were red and puffy. I genuinely felt awful. Stein was literally his other half.
"Stein's hurt....He's alive, but-- but his condition i-is critical," Jax said with shaky breaths as he looked over Stein's wounds. The team managed to fight off the Nazi soldiers, but we knew more would be coming shortly.
"Gideon will fix him," Sara said, her voice full of hope. I knelt down to Stein and examined the entry wounds from the gunshots. I took note of the amounts of blood he lost, and where the entry points were located. I then shook my head and looked back up at her.
"He's lost a lot of blood. It's too dangerous to move him." Jax's expression changed suddenly.
"Not if he's firestorm," Jefferson stated, holding out his hand in front of Stein. Stein remained motionless. "Grey!" Jax yelled. "GREY!", Jax yelled again, this time at greater volume. Stein turned his head towards Jefferson slowly and faintly raised his hand. The two bonded, and Jeffersons white eyes glowed. He stood up from his previous position on the ground.
"Let's go save Earth...And Stein...". The team and I then followed Firestorm into the gateway and back to our Earth. After we got Stein settled on the Waverider, Jax and Sara stayed in the medical bay with Stein, and the rest of the team met in the main area to discuss what we were going to do next.
"What's the plan?" Ray asked. Oliver and I were standing a few feet infront of the team, and all of their attention was on us two. They were counting on us to give them all the answers, and that was a lot of pressure.
"Firstly, we need to find Kara," Oliver said, nodding his head at Alex. "If we're gonna find her, and take the rest of these guys down, we have to split up".
"Barry, Oliver, and I will split off to S.T.A.R Labs, Legends, be ready if something arises. We'll figure out the plan further when we get Kara back." The rest of the team nodded as Barry, Oliver, and I exited the Waverider. I then sped Oliver to S.T.A.R Labs with Barry following.
"I'll look around this top floor of the building, you two go down to the lab", Oliver directed before Barry and I sped down to the speed lab.
We arrived at the perfect time. Some of the Legends and a few of our friends were fighting off another one of the Fuehrer's robots, similar to the one that attacked us earlier. Barry and I sped around the lab quickly, creating a vortex, as the rest of the team fired away at the mysterious bot. Barry and I both stopped in our tracks, made our arms into X's, and aimed at the robot. The bot then exploded, similar to what the Red Tornado had done. I placed my hands on my hips and looked around at the my friends with a smile.
"Boy, are we glad to see you guys," Caitlin said, turning back from Killer Frost into her regular self. I looked around to see the rest of the team smiling back at me. Oliver then walked through the doors of the Speed Lab with Kara behind him in a hospital gown.
"Glad to see you again," I said as Kara made her way to the group of supers. She smiled, and I smiled back. I sped upstairs quickly to get her suit, and tossed it to her on my way back in.
"One thing I noticed is that I don't see Iris or Joe...Are they alright?" I asked, concern evident in my voice. Caitlin nodded.
"Joe went to your house so he could keep an eye on Iris with the Twins." I sighed in relief.
"I'm glad they're all alright," I said as the atmosphere then became soft and somber. In an instant, everything changed. We won against Metallo, but the fight wasn't over yet. Something else came over us, but it wasn't the threat of soldiers.
"He's...He's....gone," Jax said softly through the comlink. "Stein...I-s- dead...". Jax began to sob on the other end of the comlink. Oliver, Barry, and I all shared a glance. We were the only three in the room that had them in this moment. I pressed the mute button on the comlink and looked back at the team with a frown.
"What happened?" Cisco asked. "We just DESTROYED Metallo! How can you be so sad about that?" Cisco exclamied, looking around at the rest of the team, who were all just as confused as he was.
"It's Stein..." I said, the team looking around at eachother frantically. "He was the reason why we were able to get home. He opened the portal so we could come back, but in doing so he sacrificed his own life. He was shot, and he didn't make it much longer after that...". Sadness filled the room as the team's faces contorted and changed expressions. My eyes began to water, and I was quickly pulled into Barry's embrace. His arms rested on my shoulders, and I pressed myself into his figure. The team then took turns hugging each other. I could see Caitlin resting her head on Cisco's shoulder, and Oliver hugged Felicity tightly. Stein had been with this team for a while now, and nothing could fill the void his absence left. He helped us through many situations, and was overall an amazing guy. Everything he did, he did for the ones he loved, and asked for nothing in return.
It was hard to believe he was actually gone, and I couldn't even begin to imagine how Jax was feeling. The only way I could begin to imagine was to consider how Barry had felt when he had to watch Savitar kill me over and over. Jax had to watch his best friend die, just like Barry did.
My comlink alerted me that there was activity at the other end of the line, and I reached a hand up from Barry's grip to press it.
"Stein's family has to know...I'm on my way to Clarissa's now." Jax's saddened voice filled my ears. I unhooked Barry's arms from my figure and took a step forward. I wiped the fallen tears from my cheeks and began to speak:
"Jax is on his way now to Clarissa's to deliver the news. Despite the loss and pain fallen member, we have a mission to carry out. The fate of the world depends on us. Stein would have wanted us to continue, so that's what we're going to do." The team nodded at my words. "The soldiers took away someone very important to us. We can't let them take away our home." I turned to Oliver, who took over the discussion. I joined Barry once again and he placed his hands on my cheeks, giving me a delicate kiss on the forehead. I turned around and his arms wrapped around me again.
"You're so strong..." Barry whispered into my ear. "But don't feel like you have to keep all the weight on your own shoulders. We're all here to help...". I looked up at Barry with a smile and placed a kiss on the crook of his neck. Oliver then directed the rest of the team to the Waverider, where we met up with the other Supers.
"The Nazi's have a waverider of their own, and are going to use it if we don't act fast," Felicity pointed out as she looked up from her tablet. "I was able to track it by the signature of Overgirl's radiation. According to our findings, it is approaching its limit." Ray Palmer's eyebrows furrowed.
"What happens if it continues to climb over the limit?" Ray asked.
"The evil Supergirl will explode," Felicity replied. Ray's mouth formed an "oh" expression as he finally understood.
"Where is their WaveRider now?" I asked as Felicty began to type into her tablet. She pulled up a map on the Waveriders system and showed the rest of the team. On the map, a glowing red dot.
"According to this, it's still in Central City." Oliver then took step forward from my side. I could tell he was about to get very serious.
"We need to show these people this is our ear-" Oliver began before Gideons voice boomed throughout the ship, interrupting him.
"Great speech, Mr Queen. Sorry to interrupt, but we are being hailed by a fellow Timeship." I looked over at Oliver.
"It has to be the Nazis...Pull it up," I commanded before Oliver's doppelganger appeared on the hologram platform. His arms were crossed, and he had a serious expression on his face. Seeing him appear caused me to do the same.
"What do you want?" I asked, sternly. His actions caused us to lose a vital member of our team, and he's threatening our world. I was not messing around.
"Simply to offer a truce." The dark archer removed his hands from the crossed position and waved them as he continued to speak. "We will return to our earth peacefully if you let Supergirl come with us". I shook my head. Oliver placed a hand on my shoulder and nodded. I took a step back.
"Here's another difference between you and me," Oliver said, stepping forward and standing tall as he faced the hologram platform. "I don't abandon my friends." Oliver clicked off the hologram without another word from the Dark Archer and turned back to the team.
"This is it... After this, they're going to come at us with eveything they got."
"Everyone ready to go?" Sara asked. The team nodded in response as they adjusted their suits and readied their weapons.
"Never been more ready in my life," Ray began as he stepped away from the group and gave a few words, which was something he doesn't do often.
"We can't bring Marty back, but we can protect the city he loved, and the family he left behind." We all nodded at Ray's words.
"For the Professor". Ray extended his hand palm down and waited for the others to join. I placed my hand ontop of his, then Barry followed. Caitlin put her hand in next, and the rest of the team followed until everyone's hands were in the circle.
"1...2..3...FOR THE PROFESSOR!" we all yelled in unison as we split off into our fighting positions. Cisco, Harry, and Felicity stayed on the Waverider to help with tech while the rest of the heroes found a safe place to land and disperse among the scene.
Nazi soldiers flooded the streets, taking out everyone and everything in their path. The WaveRider that followed behind them blasted down telephone poles and buildings. Police tried the best they could, but they alone couldn't stop the soldiers. Wounded police and citizens lined the streets as we got out of the WaveRider.
After examining our surroundings, the team began walking up to the heart of the city where the majority of the action was taking place. The soldiers didn't notice us until we reached the crest of the hill. I could faintly see Nazi's approaching through the smoke covered sky. We continued walking towards the soldiers until we were in two parallel lines. Similar to the quick effects of Thanos' snap, this changed quickly. The Supers charged at the soldiers, and the brawl began. Kara, Ray, and Caitlin focused on attacking from the air, and the rest of us from the ground. Felicity, Cisco, and Harry were in the Waverider, shooting blasts to help out with ground control as well.
"The shields on the other ship are up," I could hear Felicity say into the comlink as I sped around the scene. "We can't get them down unless someone's on board."
"On our way," Caitlin replied through the comlink as I looked up. I could see Killer Frost creating an ice bridge up to the ship with two other Legends alongisde her. I could also see Kara fighting Overgirl as I looked upwards.
In an instant, I was thrown from my position. I landed on the ground with a thud and rolled a few times before settling. I stood up slowly to see two red eyes glowing deeply into my soul. Two eyes I had come to learn all too well.
"Always too busy looking back, never ahead", the Reverse Flash taunted. He had caused too much damage to my life and home not just in this moment, but over the years. I could feel the anger and anticipation building up as he continued to smirk in my direction. Using all that pent up anger, I charged towards him and began throwing punchest. We chased eachother around the battle of Supers and Nazi's, as well as through the streets of Central City. Up and down buildings...dodging between cars...in and out of buildings...On water...After what seemed to be an eternity of chasing, I finally pinned him against the side of a building. One hand pressed up against his neck, the other hand raised in the air, pulsing and ready to strike his heart. I could feel the lightning in my eyes. I wanted to badly to end things right here, right now.
"END IT!" the Reverse Flash taunted, trying his best to get closer to my face. "End it, once and for all!...Avenge those i've harmed, and save those who have yet to cross my path. You want to, so badly..." the Reverse Flash began. "But you won't...I forgot you don't kill...But how can that be when you had no problem ending Savitar?". At that moment, I had a flashback to Savitar. I remember being in this same position and actually following through with ending him. I remember the darkness that had flooded my veins when making that choice. I remember the blacking out and letting the darkness take over...The shocked look of my family and friends... "Or Zoom?".  I released my hand from its position against his neck, and I put my buzzing hand at my side. I should have ended it, but it's not the right time. Having the Reverse Flash out of my life for good was something I wanted so badly, but something I knew would never happen. As Barry and I've come to learn, he'd always find his way back, and I wouldn't get the full satisfaction in this moment if he were to return again.
"Get out," I responded through gritted teeth, taking a step back. He stood taller and dusted off his suit.
"All bark and no bite..." he took a few steps away and rubbed the bruises that were starting to form on his neck. He wore a wide grin. "What face do you think i'll be wearing the next time we meet, huh?". The Reverse Flash chuckled as he placed his mask over his face and his bright red eyes illuminated once again. "See you again very soon, Flashette...". The Reverse Flash then sped away.
I stood there for a moment, torn about my decision. Had it been the right one, or the wrong one? Was I weak for letting him go? I found that my mind did this often. I drift along down a wormhole of thoughts. Luckily, a voice broke me from them before I got too deep.
"Guys...Waverider says the radiation is getting too high...Evil Supergirl is about to explode," I heard over the comlink. "Evil Supergirls about to Supernova". I looked up at the sky to see evil Kara flailing and stumbling. Orange beams radiated from her body, and she whimpered. Kara began flying away and blocked her eyes.
"What are you doing?" I asked Kara through the comlink. I sped back to the scene where the rest of the Supers were waiting and watching Kara's actions. "Don't fly away from her...Get her out of here! Fly her up". Kara then turned around and squinted her eyes at the evil version fo her that continued to struggle. She grabbed dark Kara's body bridal style and flew her so high up away from Earth that you couldn't see evil Kara's glowing body anymore. After a few seconds, the sky boomed and a flash of orange coated the grey sky.
"NOOO..." someone cried out. I turned my head to see the dark archer looking up at the sky,on his knees. He then turned to Oliver. "I'm gonna kill you...All of you..." he said, gritting his teeth. He stood up and grabbed his weapon. Oliver shot an arrow into his chest and dark Oliver toppled over before he could take further action.
"Guys...Incoming", Felicity said over the comlink. I looked upwards to see Kara's body fall from the sky.
"An impact like that, she's bound to do some damage." I quickly sped myself as fast as I could up the nearest building closest to her and jumped off. I caught her in my arms and sped her back on the ground to safety, just before she were to make contact with the ground.
"How did you--I was just--" Kara said with both confusion and awe as she looked around at the team as she lay in my arms. I smiled at her and placed her back down on the ground.
"What? It doesn't take Superman to catch Supergirl...," I joked, earning a chuckle from Kara. At this time, the rest of the heroes closed in. "Good job team, couldn't have done it without you," I announced with a big smile as I looked around at my team. "I'm sure we'll all be together again, sometime very soon". The team hugged and congratulated each other as Oliver and I split off.
"Great job, kid," Oliver said, patting my shoulder. "Way to be a team leader". I smiled and patted his shoulder back. I couldn't have done it without him. He was the one who taught me in the firstplace.
"You too," I said, looking around at the scene. I was proud of what we'd done. We saved the world once again.
"Thank you for all you've done to save not just your world, but ours too," Leo said with a smile as he and Ray approached Oliver and I. "We owe you two a lot".
"Couldn't have done it without your help too," I said, looking between the two with a smile. "If you ever need any more help over on Earth-X you let us know." Leonard nodded.
"Will do," Leo replied. He held out his arms and I stepped forward to hug him.
"Be good, Leo," I responded, gripping him a little tighter. I was going to miss Leo, even if this one wasn't the one we once knew. After all, he was the one who saved us and allowed us to be here to save the world once again. Leonard pulled away from the hug.
"Take care, Chloe".
"Take care, Leo." I turned to Ray and joined Oliver's side again.
"Ray, make sure our little Leo doesn't get into any trouble." Ray threw an arm around Leo's shoulder.
"Got it, boss" Ray replied with a smile. Ray then pulled me in for a hug before he began walking over to the breech that would take the two home. "Leo?" Ray asked, furrowing his eyebrows as he noticed Leo wasn't following him. "Aren't you coming?". I looked over at Leo with furrowed brows. I thought he was leaving, too.
"Recent development...I think I'm gonna stick around here for awhile and find out what all the buzz is about," Leo replied, looking back at me. He smiled at me, and I smiled right back. "But I promise I'll come home to you," he responded, taking a few steps forward toward Ray and sharing a kiss. "I promise", he said, cupping Ray's cheeks. Ray then walked through the breach, and he was gone. Leo said his final goodbyes to the rest of the team and was on his way.
"Our conversation isn't over," I said, walking over with Oliver to the Legends who were just starting to board the Waverider.
"Thanks again for all your help," I said to the Legends as they were boarding the ship. Each stopped to give me a hug and said goodbye. It was time to say goodbye to the last Legend: Ray.
"Jax said they're planning a funeral already for Stein," Barry said as he jogged over to the Waverider, wrapping an arm around my shoulder. "It's nothing fancy or too big. Clarissa just wanted to honor him in a way that everyone could be there. If you wanted to stick around for a little while longer...". Ray nodded.
"Wouldn't miss it for the world...I'll go alert the others", Ray said as he dissappeared onto the Waverider. After taking some time to clean ourselves up, we met for Stein's funeral. The sky cleared up just in time, and there wasn't a single gust of wind. The rest of the day was perfect, just like Stein. This was the type of day he'd want it to be.
"Clarissa insisted that I say a few words in Steins memory," Jax said as he reached the podium. "Even though Dr Stein was the talkative one out of us two, it was so calming to hear his voice in my head. It's almost like I can still hear him...Despite him being gone from this world, he will always remain a part of my being..." Jax continued. I huddled into Barry's chest, feeling Jax's emotions. "He will always be a part of us...The best man, teacher, friend, husband, father, and partner anyone could ask for." Jax stopped and rubbed the tears away from his eyes. He became overcome with emotion and couldn't control himself. "I'm so sorry Clarissa...". Jax got down from the stage and put his head in his hands, beginning to cry again. "I couldn't save him...I watched him die...All he ever wanted was a normal life and to be able to come home to his family...". Clarissa got up from her seat and met him at the bottom of the stage stairs. She pulled him in for a big hug.
"You were a part of his family, too...". Clarissa held Jax tight as he gathered himself enough to do the next activity...Paying respects and saying our final goodbyes. Despite all the sniffles, puffy eyes, tear stained cheeks, and tissues, we all powered through and said our final goodbyes to our fellow teammate.
"We will be together again someday..." .
"Tell Ronnie I said hello...".
"I'll miss the only man who gets my nerdy references...".
"You will always be my role model and number one fan...".
"Thanks for believing in me...".
'"Thanks for being a team player, always...".
"Thank you for bringing me home to my family and friends...".
"Thank you for helping me find myself...".
After we all paid our respects to Stein and the funeral was over, we said goodbye to the Legends for the time being. After exchanging hugs, condolences, and goodbyes, the Waverider took off. Barry went off to talk with Cisco, and Oliver joined my side once again.
"I knew you'd listen when I said this conversation wasn't over..." I said as Oliver approached me as I stood under a tree.
"What did you want to discuss?" Oliver asked, crossing his arms.
"Now that we saved the world once again from total destruction, I was going to ask you once again when you are going to realize that life is too short and you need to settle down for a while." Oliver shook his head.
"My response is always the same. My job is too dangerous to have a normal life. I can never give Felicity the life, as well as the love, she deserves". I shook my head at his response. He had every reaosn to believe that his life was too danegerous for a normal life, but so was Barry and I's.
"Being a hero always comes with risk...You taught me that day one. Both of you love eachother, and she's accepted that this is your life. You two are in it together...Stop putting your life on hold for the 'what if's', and focus on what's infront of you today...Felicity...Your life...".
"You're something else, Allen...", Oliver said with a wink. "You've come a long way since I first saw you as Flashette on that rooftop. Never did I think you'd be lecturing me, Oliver Queen, the MAYOR of Star city...On how to live my life"'. I nudged his side.
"Since then, i've come face to face with death and my greatest enemies, lost loved ones, found love, gotten married, and had children. I've done a lot of growing up."
"Damn you," Oliver said with a smile. "If we were to do this...Who would marry us?" Oliver asked. "We don't even know anyone...". I smirked.
"Actually, both of us do," I said before I sped away in a flash. I returned from my short expedition with a familiar friend.
"Little warning next time would be nice," John Diggle said, dusting off his pants and fixing his shirt. "Good thing I didn't thr-" he said before turning around and vomiting. He wiped his mouth and turned back around.
     "Oliver...Chloe...what's up?" he asked.
     "Everything alright." I nodded.
"If you had asked that earlier, the response would've been different...We just saved the wordl again, and had a funeral for one of our friends. But that's not the topic of the hour. You're ordained, right?" I asked. He nodded. "I remember you saying you married your brother and Carly, and I was wondering id you could marry Oliver and Felicity."
"Oliver finally decided what he wanted, huh?" Diggle asked, punching Oliver's shoulder.
"Not exaxtly...It took a lot of convincing on my part". Diggle laughed.
"Of Course...If that's what they want...".
"It's what I want!" I exclaimed. Oliver shook his head.
"It is what they want", Felicity said, joining Oliver's side suddenly. "Sorry, eavesdropping." She wrapped her arms around Olivers waist. Barry then joined my side and did the same.
"Did I hear someone's getting married?," Barry asked, wriggling his eyebrows. I looked up at him with a big smile and nodded.
"We're about to have front row seats to an Olicity wedding!" I exclaimed, barely being able to contain my excitement.
"Who's going to be your best man and maid of honor?" Diggle asked. Felicity and Oliver looked up at each other and smiled.
"We're looking at them," they replied, looking at Barry and I. My eyes widened and I hugged Felicity tightly.
"I'M SO HAPPY!" I exclaimed. I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. Barry pulled me into his chest and hugged me tightly.
"I've never seen her this way before...Not even at our own wedding...". Everyone shared a laugh as we walked down to the edge of the water. In order for the marriage to be legal, it had to be within S.T.A.R City lines, or in this case, the border of Central City and S.T.A.R City.
Oliver and Felicity joined hands as Barry and I stood at their sides. Felicity didn't hesitate to say her thoughts.
"Though I don't believe in marriage, I believe in you and what we have together. No matter what life has thrown at us, we have conquered it," Felicity's eyes began to water and her hands shook slightly as she held Oliver's hands. "That's why I believe we can conquer this. I love you, and I always have. My biggest fear in life has been losing you, but with this, I know that you are mine and I can't let you go." I teared up at the sight of my two best friends finally creating that eternal bond i've been waiting for for years.
"Yes...I do," Oliver looked over at Diggle. I chuckled as Oliver struggled to deal with the emotions he was flooded with. Out of all my years of knowing him, i've never seen him this way before.
"Not exactly the right order, but i've been rooting for this for the past 6 years, so do it your way...Do you have vows?" Diggle asked. Felicity shook her head.
"We kind of said our 'vows' when we had a wedding with a serial killing archer lady, so we can't really top that," Felicity mumbled. Oliver smiled.
"Although... " Oliver interjected. "I remember saying something around the idea of that you bring out the best in me, I'm a better person because I've loved you, and you showed me how to love...". A tear traield down Felicity's cheek as she looked up at Oliver with a smile. I smiled widely back at teh couple's actions.. Not only have I been dying for my two best friends to get married, but i'm glad Oliver finally found someone he can share his life with. He deserves that.
"Since there's no rings yet, Oliver, what did you start this out by saying...," Diggle began.
"I do."
"Oliver Jonas Queen, Felicity Megan Smoak, I now pronounce you man and wife...You may now kiss your bride..." .Oliver pulled Felicity in for a passionate kiss and dipped her. John and I hi-fived behind their backs, and I grinned widely. Barry pulled me into his embrace as Oliver and Felicity smiled at each other.
"Now that we've saved the world, and participated in both a funeral and a wedding, what's next to end this day?" Barry asked, looking down at me. Everyone's eyes were now on me.
"Well, we never had the kids' real first birthday party..." I said, looking around the group. "I really wanted the Legends and the rest of the Supers to meet them, but-".
"Who says they still can't?" Barry asked with a smile. "They're always one call away," Barry said before speeding off with no further response. Oliver, Felicity, and I headed to S.T.A.R Labs to have a little "mini celebration" while Barry was off. After being away for a while, Barry called me and told me to take Felicity and Oliver to our shared house.
When I arrived inside my home, everything was normal. All the furniture was in the same place, and nothing was touched or even moved the slightest bit out of place...That was until I entered the kitchen and I noticed the back door was ajar. I opened up the door to see decorations covering every inch of our backyard. Dispersed around the backyard were all our super friends. My eyes began to water as I looked around at all the effort Barry put in, in just a short amount of time.
"SURPRISE!" Barry exclaimed as he stood under our back tree. He jogged up the back steps and took my hands in his. He then kissed my forehead.
"You did all this for our babies?" I asked, looking around at the scene. Barry nodded, and tears continued to fill my eyes. I was not expecting this at all. I knew he was up to somethuing, but nothing as extreme as this.
"And all our friends came in record time." I could see our Super friends smiling at me from all around the backyard as if they never left. As I looked around the scene, I noticed the gift table on our patio, which was filled.
"How did you get all of those back?" I asked, looking over at the gift table.
"Oddly enough, it was the one part of the rental space that wasn't destroyed when the Nazis destroyed it." I pulled Barry closer and kissed him, passionately. I rested my forehead on his.
"Thank you...For everything."
"That's not all..." Cisco's voice boomed throughout the yard. I broke Barry and I's gaze to search for Cusco's voice. Oddly enough, he was nowhere to be found. "Uncle Cisco has a surprise for the little ones...". Barry then pointed to the back door, where Cisco emerged with a stroller in hand, covered by a blanket. Barry and I stepped down from the patio and joined the rest of our friends as Cisco stopped the stroller at the mouth of the stairs where everyone could see.
"Welcome everyone...I was going to unveil this a little later, but I thought they're never too young to learn." My eyebrows furrowed as my thoughts trailed off about the surprise gift Cisco was unveiling. I looked at Barry who furrowed his eyebrows. Nobody but Cisco knew what the gift was. I figured it was some sort of baby sized S.T.A.R Labs contraption to make their lives easier, such as a baby translator or a device to decode what their crying means. "Introducing..." Cisco said, pulling off the blanket that covered the stroller, revealing our twins. My mouth gaped and Barry and I shared a shocked glance as the surprise was revealed. The twins were wearing matching super suits, similar to mine and Barry's. Sampson's was a mini version of Barry's, but blue, and Destiny's was a deep purple, with similar details to mine. I was beyond shocked, but also happy. As much as I didn't like the idea of the twins being exposed to this work at a young age, I couldn't get over how cute they looked. At this point, we didn't even know if they were going to grow up with powers.
"Cisco, I can't-".
"I've already named them for you as well .Everyone, I'd like to introduce the two newest members of the Flash family...Dash and Dashette!". The crowd erupted with laughter and cheer, and I couldn't believe it. The names were perfect. They were styled just like Cisco had done when he came up with our superhero names. I loved it so much.
"Just like their mommy and daddy...", Barry whispered in my ear. I smiled and ran up the steps to hug Cisco. I understood that the suits most likely took a lot of time and effort, and I was appreaciative that he alotted time out of his schedule to make them.
"Thank you," I said, pulling Cisco in for a tight hug. "Not only for just the suits, but for all the help. Helping me deliver and care for them when Barry was absent...For helping me stay grounded when I felt far from it...For being the best buddy and godfather to the twins...I love you like a brother, Cisco....". I could see a tear fall from his cheek.
"Anything for my favorite ship," Cisco said, pulling away from the hug and wiping a stray tear from his cheek. "Getting back on track to the gift here..." Cisco said, examining the twins. "This suit will grow with the twins as they grow, similar to the suit I made for Ralph. And...there's a few more added features and software than your suits. This update is more...kid friendly. It's water and spill proof for those days when they don't want to eat, and even a way to play nursery rhymes in case you're ever out and they get too crabby, or if they won't go to sleep."
"Cisco, this is-" Barry said, joining me on the steps and hugging Cisco.
"Like I told Chloe, consider it a token of appreciation for all you do." Barry pulled away from Cisco and looked out into the crowd of Supers who all smiled. I then looked down at the twins who gurgled and stirred in their new suits.
"Guys, lookout!" One of the Supers called as a few stray Nazi soldier jumped our backyard fence and pointed guns at the crowd. Before we could react, two flashes of light blinded everyone's view...One of blue, and one of purple. In an instant, the soldiers were gone, as well as the two Flashes. My eyes widened at the realization. I looked down at the stroller to see our two twins smiling from ear to ear. I looked over at Barry with wide eyes and a big grin. Barry shrugged his shoulders, and the Supers laughed.
"I didn't even see them walk yet, how are they--".
"They always say you learn to walk before you can run, but for Flashes I guess it's the other way around."
