Love From the Start: Chapter Twelve- It Started with some Begging.

Alec Pov

“Your work is incredible Mr. Lightwood, but it doesn’t look like you have any modeling photography experience.”

I was sitting in the office of Crystal Lashe, trying as hard as hell to keep the calm composed smile on my face. Having the bitch herself sitting across from me made me want to jump over her desk and pull her hair out.  Unfortunately, I had to stay cool and collected if my plan was to work.

“I took a few photos of models in college and actually work right now with Raphael Santiago. I’m in charge of photographing his top model, Helen Blackthorn. Maybe you have seen a few of her ads?”

Crystal nodded slowly, staring down at my resume. She seemed to be considering me at least, which was a good thing. If I can get a job as one of her photographers, then maybe I’ll be able to get to the bottom of why Magnus is being so badly treated.

‘In her eyes, Magnus and I are incapable of perfection.’

Maia’s words were still swimming around in my head. It’s been three days since she told me and it’s just been driving me crazy ever since. I need to get down to the bottom of this and figure out what’s going on in this place.

Crystal looked up from the papers smiling at me. “How about this Alec, I let you shadow me around for the day? You can take a few photos for me and I will see how you do with it all.”

I nodded standing up and placing the strap of my camera bag over my shoulder. “Sounds like a plan.”

Honestly the last thing I wanted to do was follow her around all day, but this was a great chance to look around. Maybe I’ll get some more info out of the other models and start putting some of these puzzle pieces together.

She stood up and led the way out of the office, going right for the elevator. I followed her in and stood silently as she pushed the button for the basement floor where all the photoshoots took place. The only reason I knew this is because Magnus told me about it. The night we went dancing, Magnus drank maybe a little too much and he ranted to Maia about how he feels like he hasn’t seen the basement in months. Maia just smiled at him sadly in understanding.

The elevator got to the basement and I followed Crystal out, going right up to a stage area where models were lined up for a touch up check. Each one of them looked like a clone of the other. It was actually a little scary.

It was a group of six girls. They all had pretty blonde hair, creamy white skin, and skin tight clothes that exposed maybe a little too much cleavage around the chest area. Crystal smiled up at them proudly before turning to me.

“Aren’t they perfect? Take a few practice photos of them and then we will start for real.”

I glanced down at the camera in my hands, frowning slightly. One thing Magnus says is so amazing about my photography is that I’m showing what the world looks like through my eyes. If that’s true, then the only thing that will come through from these photos is how fake and superficial I think these girls are.

There’s nothing special about any of them. Why not have some variety? Where are the different skin tones? Different hair colors? The least they could do was switch up the models outfits instead of having them all wear the same thing.

Just when I was thinking that, the sound of heels clicking on the floor caught my attention. I turned toward the sound and saw a tall girl with beautiful mocha colored skin and long black dreadlocks that cascaded all the way down her back. She was absolutely beautiful and was definitely tall enough to be a model. Hell, she was almost as tall as me.
