Magnus Present Time Pov
“It’s finally done,” Alec sighed in relief, taking down all the lights from the shoot. I nodded in agreement, watching Madilen Woods and her crew drive off.
“Now that everything is done, we can finally go on our dinner date.”
Alec sighed at the mention of the date. “You’re still going on about that? Aren’t you tired? I literally ran sixteen blocks today. I’m ready for bed.”
“You promised me that if we kept to your schedule we would be able to go on a date tonight.”
“Yes, but that was before I ran sixteen blocks.”
“Please Alexander,” I whined, pouting and giving him my puppy dog eyes.
“No” he whined in return, covering his eyes so he wouldn’t have to see me. “Does it really have to be tonight?”
“It’s a special day so it needs to be tonight. I promise you won’t regret it,” I begged, clenching my hands together.
He opened his eyes slowly, before sighing in defeat. “Let me shower up. You try to make a reservation. Doubt you will be able to get one on such short notice.”
I laughed at that. “Have you forgotten who you are talking to darling? I’m Magnus Bane. I can get in anywhere I want.”
With that I grabbed my phone and started my mission of getting us reservations at the best restaurant in town.
There’s no way Alec will regret having our date tonight. After all, tonight is going to be one to remember.

“You want to turn your journal into a children's book? Sounds a little morbid if you ask me,” Jonathan advised, sitting on the other side of me on the couch.
“Maybe so, but I can’t help but think about all the kids who could be suffering the way I did. Research shows that kids as young as twelve develop eating disorders. I was only ten. Children need a way to see that they are not alone and there is a way to help themselves. If we cut it off when they are young, maybe less adults will suffer in the future.”
Jonathan seemed to ponder that. “What do you want my help for?”
“Well, it’s a children's book. Those usually have illustrations, but I suck at drawing. The most I can manage is clothes.”
Jonathan raised an eyebrow at this. “So you want me to use my art in your book?”
I nodded smiling. “You’re the most amazing artist I know. It can only be you.”
“I’m the only artist you know,” he sighed, shaking his head. “If you want someone who specializes in people illustrations, then I suggest my sister Clary. She is really good with those.”
I shook my head no at that. “It can only be you.”
That statement caused him to frown curiously. “How come?”
I glanced away for a moment, wondering how I should word it. “You know what it feels like to be a suffering child. Kids need to feel understood. Who better to get them then the two of us?”
Jonathan pierced his lips together, seeming to ponder the thought. He couldn’t deny that I was correct. He may not know how it feels to starve yourself, but he knows what it’s like to be young and afraid. Our demons may have been different, but the feelings are the same.
