Love From The Start Chapter Fourteen- It Started with Some Clarity.

Magnus Pov

The sight of a fist coming at my face was all I could see before my head went reeling backwards. If this had been a cartoon, I’m sure the force of the punch would have made my head spin all the way around. All it managed to do was make blood slip passed my lips.

Camille and Catarina were there, grabbing each of Raphael’s arms as he tried to break away from their hold. From the blazing rage in his eyes, and his clenched teeth, it’s obvious that he had been the one to punch me.

I spit blood on my bedroom floor before glaring down at him challengingly.

“What the hell was that for?”

Raphael hissed in response, actually hissed at me as he kept trying to get out of the girls grip. Camille had to dig her heels into the carpet just to keep him at bay.

“What the hell did you do?! What did you say to him?!”

I rubbed my cheek frowning at him. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

His fist flew toward my face again but Camille grabbed his wrist before it could make contact.

“Raphael calm down, just tell us what happened,” she yelled trying to push him back. Catarina let his other arm go and came over to me to look over my face. I moved it out of her grasp to look back at Raphael, who seemed to calm down enough to allow Camille to let him go.

“Jonathan broke up with me,” he seethed through clenched teeth, making my entire body stiffen.

“What do you mean he broke up with you,” Camille asked frowning.

Raphael clenched his fists tighter. “He came over to my place tears streaming down his face. He started spewing nonsense about being damaged and how I deserve someone better than him. About how I need a boyfriend who doesn’t have to be treated like a child. Now who does that sound like Magnus? Didn’t you tell me the same thing just the other day? What, did you get pissed that I walked away from you so you went to Jonathan to torture him instead?”

I shook my head, not being able to wrap my mind around all this. Yeah, I said some thoughtless things to Jonathan while at Crystal Lashe’s office, but was it really bad enough to make him break up with Raphael? Sure, I called him a child and a charity case, but he had to know I didn’t mean it.

“I didn’t tell Jonathan to break up with you. He was at crystal’s office with Sebastian and I got a little pissed that they were trying to steal my job… okay maybe more than a little pissed. Jonathan made it worse by trying to talk to me about Alec. I didn’t want to talk about Alec though so I may have… turned the tables around and started talking about your relationship instead.”

Raphael went to swing at me again and this time the girls didn’t stop him. I was prepared for that though and moved out of his way before his fist could collide with my face.

“Damn it Magnus! You ruined everything!”

I frowned at that moving further away from him. “If your relationship is so easy to ruin then maybe it’s for the best that it’s over. Jonathan doesn’t trust you enough to think you actually love him. That doesn’t seem like a good relationship.”

“You are such an idiot! Jonathan didn’t break up with me because he thinks I don’t love him! He left me because he doesn’t want to burden me! You made him feel like a burden Magnus!”

“Well maybe he is a burden. Just think about it Raph, Jonathan is baggage to you. He can’t sleep in the dark, can’t go to crowded places so your dates are mostly at home, and he freaks out when going in a closet. Do you really want to date someone like that?”
