Love From The Start Chapter Nine: It Started With Denial.
Present Time
Magnus Pov
“We can’t keep waiting like this Magnus. There is no way we can wait for Alec and finish this photoshoot before Vanity Fair gets to your place.” Raphael sighed. “You will only be on time if we get moving right now.”
“I’m not going without Alec,” I stated stubbornly.
Just as it looked liked Raphael was about to explode, a sweating, gasping Alexander came barreling through the dressing room door. When Rafe said that Alec was going to run ten blocks to get to me, he meant it. Counting the extra six blocks from the agency to here, it was sixteen.
Alec’s T-shirt was drenched in his own sweat, a bead of it trailing down his face. Usually I would see this as gross, but him running all that way in the blistering summer heat just so I would feel comfortable filled my heart with joy and longing. It made me want to make him sweaty for a whole other reason.
“Well thank the lord,” Raphael yelled, throwing his arms up into the air. “You have four minutes to get yourself together before meeting me in the studio. If you are even a second late, I will drop you as clients.”
With that he stormed out of the room, leaving Alec and I to stare at the slammed door in silence before glancing back at each other.
“I’m really sorry babe. The traffic was terrible and the walkways were crowded. You know I would never purposely leave you hanging like this, right?”
I smiled, standing up from my chair and making my way over to him. “You never have to apologize to me for something like this Alec. It’s not your fault there was traffic. I can’t believe you ran all the way here just for my peace of mind.”
He caught his breath for another moment before standing straight, smiling back at me. “I would run across the world for you… it might take me longer than an hour though.”
I laughed wrapping my arms around him holding him close. He groaned, putting his hand between our bodies to keep us from touching. “Magnus, I am covered in sweat and you’re wearing designer clothes. Raphael would murder me if they got dirty.”
“Oh come on. I wanna hug and kiss my man,” I cooed, cupping his head in my hands and kissing all over his face. He laughed still trying to push me away but not as hard as before.
“Come on, my face is all sweaty, stop it. We need to get to the studio before Raphael fires us.”
“We are the bread and butter of his company. He wouldn’t dare fire us,” I said rubbing my cheek against his.
He finally gave up pushing me away and just let me cuddle him. “He did fire you once before you know.”
“Shh, let’s not speak of the past. Let’s focus on the now,” I whispered smiling.
Alec rubbed my back in gentle strokes. “Actually, I have something to talk to you about, and it does concern the past a little. Ragnor told me that you have a weigh in scheduled for next week.”
That caused me to frown and I slowly dropped my arms, moving a little away from him. “He’s still making me do those? Why? It’s been two years. When will he understand that I have everything under control now?”
Alec glanced away, rubbing his arm in silence. My shoulders fell slightly, recognizing that look on his face. He was good at hiding his emotions from others, but he never hid them from me. I can always read him like an open book.
